Re: got this today....

Insurance cartels now decide our fate, and in my original post I said the last time I looked, which was yes, a few months ago. It's not something I feel the need to keep up on given the fact this current bill is a sellout to special interest and the insurance cartel. 51 and 53 % are a lot closer than the 22% you tried to feed the people.
22% that *I* "tried to feed the people"?

Dude. Get over yourself. I posted a poll result. It was labeled as being a NJ poll. *That* is the difference. In NJ, it's accurate, and more importantly, it's up to date. That was the one that *I* happened upon.

And your 53% is nowhere close to what is accurate *now.* Go back and look--it's the difference between being slightly in favor and way out of favor with the public.

BTW, this current bill is a sellout to the statists, period. We can do a hell of a lot better just by opening the state lines to competitive insurance. There's no need for the gummint to be our insurer unless you *want* VA health coverage for everyone but the privileged few in the Congress. Go ask a vet and ask if they're happy with the VA.

So you posted a regional poll as opposed to a national poll. How crafty.  Wink
*chuckle*
Not crafty, just not payin' attention.    Grin

Re: got this today....

The VA, The US Postal Service, Social Sec, Education, Medicare, Medicaid, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac. Can someone please tell me which one of these Gov't run entities has been a success? I will answer that for you - NONE. In fact, these have all been huge failures. The money these programs lose is staggeringly in the hundreds of billions. These are just some of the programs. there are quite a few more to name.

Why in the hell would anyone want the Gov't running their healthcare with a track record like this?

Tibs must be getting his polling numbers off moveon.org, Chris Matthews, or Keith Olbermann or something. Of all the polls I have seen, I have yet to see one in favor of this monstrosity.

Re: got this today....

* Passing the "largest" economic stimulus bill in American history.
* Ordering the closing of Guantanamo Bay military detention facility and abolishing "enhanced interrogation techniques."
* Setting a fixed timetable for withdrawing U.S. combat forces from Iraq.
* Returning science to its rightful place" by lifting the Bush restrictions on federally funded embryonic stem cell research.
* Signing laws to expand children's health insurance financed by a 61-cent per pack increase in the federal cigarette tax the adviser did not tout.
* Signing a law meant to improve the ability of women who allege pay discrimination to sue their employer.
* Within one year, pulled the US economy out of its nose dive, revived credit markets & nudged the economy towards growth of 2.2% in final quarter.
* Within one year, halted the devastating rate of monthly job losses he inherited, from an average 700,000 monthly in the first quarter of 2009, to 35,000 in first quarter 2010 - a major achievement the last administration was not capable of doing.
* Passed the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009 in February - has played a key role in turnaround of economy over the last 3 quarters www.recovery.org
* Passed the largest middle-class tax cut in history - $288 billion
* Saved, or created around 2,000,000 US jobs.

I would go on, but i'm getting tired.  Cheesy

Re: got this today....

Tibs, while 9-11 did happen on Bush's watch, I think it was your boy, Clinton, who really set things in motion for this catastrophe.

Let's not forget that it was the Democratic congress that really started our economic downturn with the fall of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, thank you Chris Dodd and Barney Frank.

Don't you mean 'pork'ulus instead of stimulus, by the way, just one of many campaign promises broken. And, when you really check into see what this stimulus bill spent $$ on you'd even get a laugh.

Last I checked, Gitmo is still operating and fully functional. And we still have a large force in Iraq. 2 more campaign promises broken.

The math is simple, there is only so many jobs to lose once there have been more than 2,000,000 jobs lost. It's only natural the monthly jobless rate will decline. By the way, another promise broken. He said unemployment would not go above 8%.

Trust me, this is short term growth. Anytime you infuse $800,000,000,000.00(man, thats a lot of zeros) into a system you will see something. It is my children and grand children who are going to be paying for it. Then you have this 1,000,000,000,000.00(again, thats a lot of zeros) healthcare monstrosity, generations to come will be paying for all this good will.

I don't get this term 'saved' when talking about jobs. Either you create a job or you lose one. This crap about 'saved' was a clever invention. The word on the street is the latest job count included the hiring of temporary census workers, which, by the way, is costing $25,000,000,000.00.

Like you, I could go on and on, but, my fingers are getting tired.
