Re: RF Raids the Bills Forum - Week 4 intel from behind enemy lines

That's assuming he doesn't miss by six feet.

He's playing with a chipped collar bone, we're hoping that's the reason he suddenly has us wishing we'd have kept Karl Joseph (actually, we should have kept him regardless).

And FTR - I just checked because I was curious and Karl Joseph's pff score is 10 points higher than Abram. Life as a Raider fan. Just baffles me why we didnt resign him. He was starting to find his groove before he got hurt. Browns are paying him peanuts.

Re: RF Raids the Bills Forum - Week 4 intel from behind enemy lines

Any given Sunday. Bills defense has not been playing well. Bills are a young team and we still have yet to conquer the 3rd quarter let down.
I dont think Allen needs any extra motivation He was called a bust before he took a single snap by 90% of the talking heads. Wyoming isnt exactly a hotbed for the NFL Jay Novachek, Jim Kiick, Conrad Dobler Thats it from 60+ years of drafts. I'm concerned Jonathan Abraham will launch himself to try to kill someone. Guy thinks he's Jack the assassin tatum back there That's assuming he doesn't miss by six feet.

Re: Raiders still 2-1 Patriots Post Game Thread.

Personally, I thought the game was closer than the final score indicated.

I thought the defense looked a bit better early on, first few possessions they had to punt. The 2 main issues we had IMO, were the costly turnovers (though one was a bad call) and our run defense. We got gashed for what 250+ yards. Insane.

Those turnovers though really lopsided the score. A defensive TD, one in the Redzone - took points away from us and 1 other they ended up scoring on. Take those turnovers away and we were in that game.

Jacob's recovered that one, bad call IMO. It's hard to fully blame Carr, but this multi fumble thing seems to be a re-occurring theme at least a few games a year. Turnover are one of the most reliable indicators as to who wins and who losses. Offense cannot continue to cough up the ball.

I'm going to trust/hope that it's the affect of a new position coach and little off season that has turned an improving group into :poop: .

DAVID CHAO, MD: WHAT IS CAUSING ALL THE ACL TEARS?

An interesting look at the ACL tears thusfar. Seems that these have happened a lot in preseason in the past and that's just dragging to the regular season this year.

https://www.outkick.com/david-chao-md-what-is-causing-all-the-acl-tears/
There were seven confirmed anterior crucial ligament (ACL) tears after this brutal NFL injury week: Saquon Barkley, Courtland Sutton, Nick Bosa, Solomon Thomas, Bruce Irvin, Tavon Young and Marquise Blair. Many are questioning if the lack of preseason games is to blame.

The answer is complex.

There have actually been fewer ACL tears so far this season compared to most other recent years. There have been 19 ACL tears this year league-wide so far through Week 2 and the league average the last 5 years during the preseason alone is 25.

ACL can be considered an acclimation injury as tears happen at over twice the rate in the preseason versus in the regular season. Consider a six-week training camp and an average of 25 tears gives us a rate just over four per week. Across a 17-week regular season, the average of just under 30 ACL tears gives us a rate of under two per week.

The spike of ACL tears from this past Sunday is in part bad luck but in part seems to be the shifting of the higher rate of preseason ACL tears into the regular season. Given the lack of an offseason program, preseason games and live practice time, it actually lowers the number of ACL tears for training camp but there seems to be a shift into the early regular season.

Even with the spike in Week 2 of ACL tears, balanced against a relatively healthy Week 1 that puts us at the preseason rate of about four per week. With the pandemic altered training camp and lack of preseason games and practice, the season so far has us headed towards a lower than typical total of ACL tears so far.

There is a small sample size so no firm conclusion should be drawn but the evidence does not prove that lack of preseason games has led to an overall increase in ACL tears.

RF Raids Patsfans - Week 3 intel from behind enemy lines

This week we got New England and I'll be checking in on patsfans.com, which quite frankly, is about as boring and energetic as a Belichick press conference, but it's what we got, so here goes (I'll update throughout the week if someone over there wakes up and posts something entertaining or thoughtful -- not counting on it tbh).

Gonna be a tough game. Jacobs probably #1 priority for D.
Waller is a baller. last week Saints fans spoke about containing Jacobs and Ruggs. Now it's Jacobs and Waller. Wont' be surprised to see Ruggs making some more plays this week.

I would've penciled this game as a guaranteed W, but seeing them against NO on MNF I was impressed by them. I still think we win, but it is definitely not going to be easy. First off, more respectful than the Saints fans seemed to be, but respect is earned and last nights game was a big step towards earning the respect that Derek Carr talked about a few weeks ago.

Derek Carr looked darn good against the Saints last night. This could be another shoot-out... Derek did look good, but I don't get the feeling this will be a shootout, though I could absolutely be wrong about that. I feel like both teams will want to limit possessions and we probably don't see another 30 point outing from our Raiders (but would love to be wrong and see us score big again).

Raiders leading receivers are Darren Waller, a TE and Josh Jacobs, a RB. No receiver on that team has more than 5 receptions and 60 yards Definitely a case where the numbers don't match the talent. Edwards ready for a breakout any moment now.

I think the Raiders have a let down game after the grand opening of their new stadium last night I just don't see Gruden allowing for a let down game at Foxboro.

And then the Tuckheads were born and the Raiders fans and ex-players have been crying ever since. It's funny how a team that prides itself on being so tough and proudly wears the motto "if you ain't cheatin' you ain't tryin', can be a pack of slobbering crybabies when confronted with a perfectly legal call.

It was then that I put a 25 year curse on the Raiders, which kicked in with their humiliating loss in the SB the next year. They will not win again, if at all, until after 2026.

Fuck this guy.

LETS FUCKING GO!

What They're Saying - Who Dat Edition

Pregame:
I really do like the Raiders new stadium. Inside looks sharp. Too bad it is empty.
I watched entire [Raiders] game. If we dont play any better than we did, we still win by 21. Our D finna eat.
If this is the [Saints] best defense(aka 91/92) I’m looking for a shutout or hold them to at least 2 scores.
Gonna have a great test with the Raiders and Jacobs.
who y’all think will get more looks and have potential for a big game?
I'm going with the fact that Murray left the Raiders unceremoniously and would like to stick it to them.
I smell a rat. New stadium and new team in LV plus Goodell in attendance. Line moves over 2 points overnight?
a lot of locals in Vegas are betting on the Raiders blindly because it’s Vegas’ first NFL game.
I should be in the Caesars Sports Book putting down my life savings on the Saints tonight.
Was there 30 minutes ago. Saints to cover, saints up 3+ at half, cook to score first. (And my wife took Witten to score first because “he always kills us”
Wouldn’t surprise me one bit to see the zebras try every which way they can to keep this game close.
Of course Jon is talking about having to go up against the many facets of Taysom Hill.
He would pass 30 empty urinals to pee next to Taysom Hill.
I see way more Raider stuff/Raider fans here in Las Vegas than I ever saw Falcon stuff in Atlanta
vegas is getting trashier and trashier each day with the clientele that is coming here.
It’s a lot like New Orleans in some ways. A tourist city with plenty to do, gambling, debauchery, and haunted history
Where can I find a midget stripper? Asking for a friend...
Banging Vegas prostitutes with the game on in the background. Who dat

1St Quarter
I want to be the ones to score first in that stadium.
Gashed then on that drive but Drew and WR’s still shaking rust off.
I hate that we only got 3 out of that drive.
[Raiders First Possession]
Let's see how good this o-line is.
They gonna try to wear them down running the bull.
Sack!!!
[2nd Saints Possession]
If we keep the Raiders with 0 points in their first home game in Vegas. This will be epic!
[Abrams Incident]
He didn’t move a muscle. I’m legit freaked out for that young man.
There shouldn't be equipment like that on the sidelines unless it is heavily "padded" or fenced off.
Why the fork would you leave a metal cart right next to the sideline??
There's a lawsuit.
[Saints score 10-0]
First 10 points in Vegas stadium belong to Saints
Love the way our offense is playing but man is the raiders d IS BAD!

[Raiders 3rd Possession TD Drive]
Did they say Brees to Waller a few plays ago?
pssst somebody cover #83
Hey maybe we should cover that guy that keeps catching passes...
[Ingold TD 10-7 Saints]
Too easy . . .
Saints got beat by the same play 4 times in that drive
WE don't want to see these clowns talk
Well that was ugly. Long, Clock-chewing TD drive and the D is now gassed.
Jesus we were like waiting for carr to throw it deep the whole drive and instead he just took us underneath and outside the entire field
A competent QB would've scored 2 TDs on the saints today.
Can't shut out every team
No need to panic
[Saints TD Drive 17-7]
The Raiders stadium looks like a giant Roomba.
Looks likes a toliet to me
Raiders player was bumping all over Cook and he still caught the ball with that interference. LOL.

[Raiders TD Drive 17-14 Saints]
And getting torched...
What's happened to our D?
Another 3rd conversion for the raiders and a TD
Defense is getting caught, but nothing that can’t be cleaned up.
Would be nice if we could hold them to 3 at some point.
Allen is giving a parting gift to his old team.
We beat Tom last week, going to Vegas and PARTY!
Gotta love Gameday threads.

[Pickoff!]
Wow . . .
What a freaking meltdown on all sides of the ball
Holy crap...
Lol. Might have been worse interception I’ve seen drew throw. That was literally right to the linebacker

[Raiders Late Drive]
Derek ****in Carr is 15/20
Jenkins is making Waller look like Vernon Davis
Little jawing there. Carr didn't like Cam sliding into him.
The team got over confident in the 1st qt.
3 more EASY passes and Oakland scores.
The Saints have a ton of talent and can't stop an average QB
Getting away from the run gave Carr time to get his sea legs under him and was a huge mistake
a better QB would have scored 3 TDs on this defense by now..
Just keep in mind that this is the Gameday thread. Most people who come hear leave their reasonableness at the door.
So far the MVP of the defense is the clock. If there was more time the Raiders would have walked it in.
Saints on upset notice big time.
The draw play call was very questionable.
Just go tied into half please
Not ready for Prime Time...
The defense is getting schooled the last 15 minutes..
[Raiders Tie it up at 17]
Tied against the Raiders at the half and they get the ball. Ugh.
The season started as superbowl or bust. Well.. it's a bust. Can't beat this team which the Panthers beat...
Doing our best Falcons imitation tonight.
Haha and this is why I didn't laugh at ATL and their choke yesterday because I knew karma would come.

[3rd Quarter Raiders TD Drive]
The Raiders are playing like we should be
They have 3rd Stringers on the offensive line and we can't even touch Carr.
So much for halftime adjustments.
[Jacobs Run to the 1-yard line] Boy... that was sad carried our entire line 5 yds.
[Waller 4th and one TD 24-17]
Both players went for the run and let their best player wide open. This is embarrassing.
Everyone knows Waller is getting ball but our idiot defenders.
Maybe Waller is invisible to our D??
Come on. Waller is abusing this defense.
Call Gruden overrated as a HC, but he just made adjustments during this game to totally own the Saints defense.
Man the defense has no answer for what Gruden is throwing at them.
Where's Cam?
Getting beat by a 4th string OT

[Another Raiders Long Drive]
Raiders are sucking the game clock down . Gruden in running circles around Payton right now .
Waller is messing our defense up bad!
Those PED's got Waller diving over folks like Superman over buildings.
The Raiders have no offensive line yet they are working us.
complete domination by the raiders. The saints had the ball one time in the 3rd quarter
raiders had the ball the whole 3rd
They are getting destroyed.
We just can't stop them tonight.
What happened to this “great” defense?!?!
[Richard Fumble]
Jacobs has to come out and the backup Richard just drops the ball!! Yes sir!!
You've played so poorly and you recover a fumble and we think we deserve a picture. Makes be sick to believe the offense won't waste this turnover. But... [They Do]

[12:17 remaining 4th Quarter]
[Renfrow catch for first down and challenge call]
he still has control of the ball . It’s desperation move by payton . He has no answers
Jacobs just backpacking our defenders
Jacobs carrying Jenkins like a toddler. Smh. Ugly.

[Richard Redemption 31-17 Raiders]
3rd and 10 and they score a TD on a play that the dude fumbled on earlier. This team is donezo!!
24 unanswered
raise the flag, bring me my sopapias
Team has its manhood taken away and it starts with coaching.
Time of possession:
Raiders: 32:42
Saints: 19:27
Dominated.
Gruden schooling Payton on tough football.

[Kamara TD 31-24 Raiders]
If the Saints win, this will be legendary.
This is nothing compared to that Falcons game.

[Next Raiders Possession]
[Ruggs Penalty on 3rd down]
The line moved in favor of the Raiders for a reason.
THE FIX WAS IN.
basically what everyone worried about if vegas ever got big league sports.
Only 3 penalties for 13 yards on the Raiders!! Looks like they wanted a certain team to win this game!
Wah wah wah. 1) The vast majority of penalties were absolutely earned.
The Saints got their arses handed to them and we are blaming the refs?
Changing the channel

[Carlson Kick to seal it 34-24]
Whoa. Gusty call.
Kicker looks scared. LOL!
Game
Gruden is Ice. The guy goes for the kill.
Gruden did that because he knows what Brees can do leading an offense down the field down by 7
Cam Jordan's face should be on a milk carton.
That was a gift to the Raiders by the refs.
At least we didn’t score 39 points and recover 3 turnovers in the 1st quarter and still lose right?
the Raiders were the better team. I have no earthly idea how the score was only 34-24. The Saints got their &*^%%& whipped tonight.
We got outplayed big time. No answer for that TE.
Derek Carr looks like the guy who ran over kittens with a lawn mower as a kid.
let’s get the hell out of Vegas.

I was really happy to see Cooper leave and was ecstatic with getting a first for him. However, not a fan of Rex putting it in the way he did, pretty easy to say the same thing in a more respectable manner. I agree. Name-calling by someone in a position of power, prominence, or with a wide audience is usually a mistake and unbecoming. He could have used a less "colorful" noun. I can't believe people are dogging Simmons cuz he played safety. Hello! He isn't an old school on the line LB. Folks stuck in a time warp. I dont watch much college ball at all but the one game I saw him play he just jumped out and smacked you in the face. If you knew zero about the game you'd instantly be watching the guy on every play. He'll be making big game changing plays for a lot of years in the league I think. He should be first guy gone after the QBs and possibly Young imo.

Re: The Derek Carr Thread

It's been a frustrating run with carr for sure, but I don't know about giving season tickets over his return. There is enough otherwise about this team to get excited about....it would be just another year of hoping to see players develop and take another step in right direction.

I think at a minimum, we can probably safely assess that they know eventually they need to upgrade. However, I also don't think it's the end of the world to keep him on this year until we have an answer and get other pieces in place.

We will know by the draft. If a trade doesn't happen, he is in on 2020 which I feel is most likely. Also, speaking volumes about his future would be what we do in the draft. U never know how it falls, but my guess is we spend a pick on a QB Good post but I will admit the thought of having Turd for another season takes ALOT of my enthusiasm out of next season...I do however think he is most likely returning.

That said Gruden MUST get a competent backup who can be relied on to step in when needed and WIN GAMES!

Get a backup who is capable of starting some games if needed and have the balls to bench Turd if he is sucking ballz and/or going full fetal and killing gophers...Heck start the backup for any game under 50 degrees and both games against the Chiefs if ya have to!

This "I'll be the QB of the Raiders as long as I want" attitude needs to be pushed/challenged and brought back to reality asap.

Combine Discussion Thread

Don't believe we had a dedicated place to talk all things Indy so I'll kick it off.

http://www.nflcombine.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/general_player_schedule_2020_rev0207.jpg

Some interesting measurements prior to the drills being done:

Tua Tagovailoa, QB: 6'0, 217lbs, 10" Hands, 30 4/8" Arms, 75 2/8" Wngspan

The hands and wingspan is promising for an undersized QB, though the most important aspect of Tua's combine will be his medical report.

Jake Fromm, QB: 6'1, 219 lbs, 8 7/8" Hands, 31 1/8" Arms, 75" Wingspan

For a guy who's stock was shaky as is, his baby hands may tank what little chance he had at being selected in the first two days.

Joe Burrow, QB: 6'3, 221 lbs, 9" Hands, 30 7/8" Arms, 74" Wingspan

It shouldn't hurt his stock enough that he won't be 1st overall. But his hands were a let down.

Jordan Love, QB 6'3, 224 lbs, 10 4/8" Hands, 32 5/8" Arms, 80" Wingspan

Big hands and a huge wingspan is a promising start for what will be an important week for Love as he fights Herbert for the 3rd QB off the board.

Justin Herbert: 6'6, 236 lbs, 10" Hands, 32 7/8" Arms, 78 7/8" Wingspan

No surprises here. Herbert is big.

----

Juwan Johnson, WR: 6'4, 230 lbs, 10 4/8" Hands, 34 2/8" Arms, 81 5/8" Wingspan

God damn. Tall and wide, this guy looks like he was built in a lab. I won't be the only one scrambling to look back at his tape.

Michael Pittman, WR: 6'4, 223 lbs, 9 2/8" Hands, 32 4/8" Arms, 79 2/8" Wingspan

The 2nd most physically imposing guy in the draft, his hand measurement is a bit of a let down.

Henry Ruggs, WR: 5'11. 188lbs, 10 1/8" Hands, 30 4/8" Arms, 74 4/8" Wingspan

We all knew he was going to be a slight player, so the weight arms and wingspan aren't a huge deal. But having one of the bigger hands as a pass catcher in the draft is big for him.

There's a few more interesting ones I'll point out if I get a minute. Post players you're keeping an eye on throughout the week, or those who's results jumped out at you.

Re: Tyrell Williams

As a fan it's hard to comment on things like this because we don't really know the extent of injuries for the most part. I thought early in the season Tyrell looked like an electrifying piece of the offense, and someone Carr liked throwing too. After his injury he looked borderline at best. I think he can be a legitimate #2 for us if he can recover, which is what I hope happens.

Tyrell Williams

Along with Carr and Hudson, Williams has a contract trigger on Wednesday. According to Overthecap.com $11 million base salary vests into a full guarantee (skill/cap/injury) on February 5. If he's still around at 4 PM ET on Wednesday then he's staying.

There are a few factors in this though. If he can't pass a physical before that trigger date then it's possible he can't be released without paying him the $11 million anyway - it depends on the contract particulars. Personally I think we will (and should) keep Williams as long as we think he'll bounce back from injury.

Lets keep Carr out of the discussion please, there's a separate thread for him.

Re: With the 12th overall pick, the LV Raiders select...

That’s where my head is at. So many are speaking of Jeudy and Lamb as if it’s a guarantee both head into the NFL as something akin to Calvin Johnson, Julio Jones, or Larry Fitzgerald.

For me already, hearing that Lamb is fond of a bit of the party-party life makes me assume he’s not highest on the Raider board.. If we take into account the way last year’s draft went, (free-agency notwithstanding) our FO went for super clean. Remember all of the bad rumors, or any rumors about Josh Jacobs? Yeah, me neither.

Couple that with the depth at WR in this year’s draft, and I’m feelin’ a Kinlaw/Queen, Kinlaw/Murray, Kinlaw/CB, or a Kinlaw/QB in this year’s first round. Unless of course Simmons or Brown fall. The success rate for highly drafted DT's is arguably worse than WRs. And all I've heard about Ceedee Lamb is that the guy practices hard and well.

Re: Quick 1st Round Mock

I love it when I see mocks that have us taking Simmons, he'd be a much needed addition.

That said, what are the chances he falls that far?

Kenneth Murray is in our range though. He just isn't the sure fire slam dunk Simmons is. Should be a good cover guy and add speed, but I do worry about his ability to shed and fight through trash.

I've seen the rankings, but it didn't show round projections. Any idea what rounds DYE or Davis-Gaither projects? The more I chew on it the more I think there is a solid chance Simmons will be there. And if he's taken ahead of us it could only mean good things for our prospects at getting a top WR

Right now there are 2 QBs slated to go top 10. I really think this could increase to 3 if Love tests well. Reports Lions may want to move on from Stafford, plenty of QB needy teams in the teens too who could move up.

Possibly 3-4 O-lineman who can go before us.

Young and Okuda.

So you're already looking at only a few selections before our pick and 2 stud WR's, a stud MLB, and Derrick Brown who I'm 50/50 on but he would be a solid value at 12.

I'm not obsessed with Murray, and think he would be a reach @ 19. I've read a few guys are high on the LSU LB'er, and he could be a legitimate option @ 19. I'm not too familiar with Davis-Gaither.
