About Joel Buchsbaum. It was so many years ago I can't even remember how long (had to be the 70's). He used to come on KMOX radio in St Louis. It was when he was starting out. It was before he started doing Pro Football Weekly. No one at the station knew his identity or who he was. Just that he knew a lot about Football. He was young at the time just really starting out but his voice made him sound old.... I bought their preview mag every year for 2 decades until they went out of business. Was the gold standard.

Buchsbaum’s story is one of the low key great stories in the history of football. Now there is a name that is a blast from the past. I subscribed to Pro Football Weekly and LOVED their annual draft guide -- Bushsbaum's evaluation of every important and semi-important college senior. Entirely possible, but this is a guy who was dominant in a P5 conference in college while playing the right position. My guess is Thomas' biggest problem is that the 49ers thought he could play DE and he just can't do that in the NFL

My take: if in your mind an elite player drops unexpectedly to you, you pick him. Period.

I would be shocked if they traded up but it's hard to fault them taking a corner again this year in the first round.

Can't trust Arnette to stay on the field and the depth behind him and Mullen isn't there.

I think the front 7 is good enough to be middle of the pack or better but it won't matter if only 1 guy in the secondary can cover Arnette needs to be traded or cut ASAP. It is one thing to not have talent but another to give up on plays.

Never met a fanbase that despises a player on their team as much as this group. I've met fans that know the game better than coaches and GM's....Ive met fans that are not happy with a player, or draft pic, or direction a team takes...but I have never met a fanbase that has such disdain for their qb. That kind of passion is usually reserved for someone like Mahomes or Rivers.....but not this group....they immediately fall to their knees for Mahomes....and then post some goofy meme about Carr.

Maybe Im just old school....where the team means everything and you bash on your rivals. I for one do not despise Carr, I am also very old school and he lacks any sort of toughness that an old school fan wants in their players. As a team that was known for true fuck the world attitude, he lacks any toughness or killer instinct. I do not worship at the feet of Mahomes, but as an old school fan of the game, I appreciate the talent and what he brings to the game. I can keep my biases from influencing what I see.

That being said, I am also not the fan police and I would never question another's fandom. I may disagree with opinions and I often do, but hating or not hating a player for whatever reason, that is up to the individual. If you feel like you can get into the head of another or question their loyalty to their fandom, good for you...keep policing, but that is your issue, not theirs

Last years draft was an unmitigated disaster. Ruggs, Arnette, Bowden, Edwards, Muse. Terrible. Hopefully, this year's crop bear fruit.

Farve is 1000x the QB carr could ever be in his wildest dreams . Farve made a staff with mooch and gruden on it look good. He had 15 seasons OVER .500, went to 24 play off games, went to multiple Super bowls... carr could play for 40 more years and never come close to what Farve did. Then he goes to a new team and takes them deep in to the playoffs.
Carr is a mediocre QB that no one will remember 2 seasons out of the league... so yeah he could stand to be a bit more bold.

The objective of mock drafting is to predict how the draft will end up. Predicting is the key word here. Mock drafting has nothing to do with figuring out who would be the best draft choice for the team picking at each spot.

The Raiders GM is drafting for the Raiders. Mock drafters are trying to PREDICT who the Raiders GM will take.

that's fan talk, not mock drafter talk. The talking heads who put out mock drafts every week or so give a "description" of the mocked player which is often no where near being accurate and also give a "rationale" for the predicted pick and it too is often no where near accurate.

--It works like this... somebody else reported that currently a LB and a DT are the top positions being mocked to the Raiders at #17, and some of the talking heads actually claim that the Raiders are in desperate need of a LB or a DT,

so those picks make 'mock drafter sense' even though 'common sense' (that thing that doesn't exist but people claim that it does, so I'll use it here) says that Free Safety is the biggest need followed by OT.

The only way the Raiders draft a LB at #17 is if Mark Davis decided to tank the 2021 season and needed a draft pick to sell it.

Mock drafting is a joke. The Raiders GM isn't mock drafting, he's picking roster talent. Two completely different things. Mark Davis didn't hire Mayock because he liked his mock drafts. Ummm... that is why I also mentioned rankings or rating systems. They do not simply mock...they rate players. IF Mayock was not chosen because of his work as someone who ranked players in drafts and created mocks ...then please tell me why he was chosen? The man spent his adult life doing this, but was chosen for some other reason? Please let me know what it is?

I already have been telling myself if something like that happens don't post for 12-24 hours. And have the blood pressure meds already out to be taken.... Flashbacks of 2018 when we traded down - Derwin and Edmunds were both still there - and we drafted miller.

At the very least miller has become a good tackle but holy hell.... at the time it was such a classic move. From potential stroke of brilliance in trading down and still getting a great value in James or Edmunds.... to who the fuck did we just pick and why haven’t I seen him in a 1st round mock anywhere.

I agree they are laying things on a little thick but I think even the glass half full fans have to realize picking him at 4 was a major mistake. I still stand by my prediction that the Raiders will decline his 5th year option as you can replace his production in free agency for less than $10 million. I hope he proves me wrong but this is the Raiders we are talking about here so not likely going to happen.
