If Jimmy does not play, it sets us back one year. That is it. He was never going to be a long term solution at the position. If he plays, it likely changes nothing we do going forward. I am willing to bet we are on track to get the organization's first future starting drafted QB since Carr and if Jimmy is here, he grooms him, if he does not play and is cut, some other journeyman grooms him next year. In either case, the logic that suggests we are rudderless was disproved in the last draft. We learned exactly how they executed the plan, getting one of the best ends, who has a high ceiling and the best TE in the draft. We shored up the interior line as well with a solid pick there. We have a developmental QB and we added special teams and possible starters in the later rounds.

The sky is not falling. We were actually pretty damn smart in how we executed that contract. You may not like the moves we made, you may think it is cute to call him McBum or whatever other nicknames you use. Frankly they got tired with Carr and they are tired with our current coaches/GM. But there was a plan and there were some smart moves in how they did a few of the contracts.

June first is around the corner, I wonder what other moves these guys who do not have a plan are just going to fall out of the sky. Hell, I wonder if these rudderless guys have even thought to order uniforms or helmets. Oh the humanity. Damn, I cannot wait for real football so everyone has new things to bitch about.

Oh and for the record, we have a fairly average number of receivers too.. How is that possible???

I know QBs aren't perfect, but it was also frustrating how many times he under threw wide open players deep. Yes it would be a "completion" that is a big play, but it left points off the board. Which is especially bad when you struggle in the red zone. The same with anticipation and throwing to where a receiver is going rather than at or behind him. Certain situations call for it but many you’re supposed to hit the guy in stride and he just never did

You wondered if this "deserved its own thread" -- as one who complains about redundant or irrelevant threads, I think this one is just fine. First, this is a SLOW time of year for information and actual concrete happenings; second, having a thread about an individual player is done with regularity and here we are recognizing the person who is easily our best defender. We need 3 or 4 other playmakers like Maxx if we are going to get anywhere.

I think Jimmy will play well as long as he doesn't trip over a gaggle of sleeping prostitutes leaving his mansion headed to the stadium and tear both his ACLs.
I think on the field he will be very efficient.

The rollover is already included. There might still be some adjustments to the cap after all incentives from 2022 get baked into the team's cap number.

The funny thing is if you go back to last year, the Eagles were struggling midseason and there were rumors about trading Fletcher Cox to us as we were trying to make our playoff push. Now a year later we are in the top 10 of the draft and they are in the SB. Half way into the 2021 season, Sirianni was on the hot seat. At the beginning of 2021 Zac Taylor was also on the hot seat. Hopefully things change for us for the better.

I think when you're drafting a guy who needs a lot of development, the question is how will he take to that development.
Why is he inconsistent now? Is he getting bad coaching? Does he want to be great? Will he do everything it takes to be great? Will he take steps backwards in order to eventually take steps forward? Does he have the mental makeup to execute a high level offense in the NFL vs high level complex defense?

There are a lot of questions that we don't have the answers to. NFL teams don't have the answers either, but they have more information from interviews with the player, with coaches and teammates and information from analyzing his life outside of football. That stuff has to check out even for the players who already check all the boxes on the field in potential and production.
