The amount of disrespect toward top tier running backs in today's NFL baffles me. This guy was a hell of a big weapon for us for a number of years. I wish there is someway we could have kept him. But this was highly unlikely because of the money he got which Raiders weren't willing to pay. When you can find running backs that can break tackles after the line of scrimmage and get good positive yardage you keep those guys for at least 5-7 years barring injuries.

I think the NFL and fans have forgotten what really great running backs do and how they change games completely. Who wouldn't want to keep a RB like Derrick Henry around for as long as possible? ...hardly 'baffling', with the number of teams who lost big time after having given out huge 2nd contracts to premier backs, only to have it seem like the rigors of the position caught up with them, virtually 'overnight'.

...with a cap, you can't afford to reward players for past play, at a position where they so often fall off drastically, and when they can stay on the field, after that first contract, or short;ly after....

...i also think that you can't even rank most of the top 15 or so, numerically, as they were arguably , equally worthy of 'the top spot' , for different reasons....

Prescott has been surrounded by elite players on offense and defense most of his career and can’t get it done in the playoffs. Remember Cooper Rush was 6-1 starting in place of Dak which shows how strong their roster has been. Any team offering him $40+ million is setting themselves up for disappointment. ...agree, have no interest in, or to overpay for Zak....seems to gets smaller in the biggest moments.....

Optimistic. I love that we landed a two blue chip players. Also thought we ended well by providing depth in the DB room. If Jakorian Bennett can’t take the next step, maybe one of these guys is up to the task. Laube is another interesting gadget, IMO. Seems like one of those dudes who can just play football, and love his go-getter attitude.

Good to remember they’ll also pick up a sizeable amount of cap space on June 1 with the Jimmy G release. This team has the capital to continue to add solid free agents to fill some needs. I expect J Bennett and T Tucker to step up a lot from last year, though obviously, they didn't, until they did, so we shall see.

....when a guy with that Richie Incognito type nastiness joins a unit, it always seems to be contagious, and others play with an added edge. ...we needed that with our o-line....

...our o-line got more stout, and nastier, from what I see, in addition to having added immediate depth...

...from what I have seen since the Glaze pick, I think he can be a good player....he was moved back and forth between tackle positions, which can't be easy, and apparently Maryland threw nearly as much as anyone, so add that consideration to what you see with him 'on paper'....

P.S. The vast majority of elite QBs in the history of the league were not a result of a team trading away a boatload of picks. Like 99% of them. But yes, I guess the only way the Raiders can find one...is that they must do it now, and must trade that boatload of picks to do it. If not they will suffer mediocrity for the next 10 years. Yep, that sounds right. :rolleyes: .

..funny, stopped by the other day and out of curiosity, and with some of the talk of trading however many 1sts away, i searched around for QB's chosen in the 1-15 range of the 1st over the last 20 years, and pretty much came away with the above.... .

...we still need some talented players at a number of premiun positions, (cb, rt, lb,...) and including the type players you are less likely to get after the 2nd round in future drafts, as well as solid sound depth, before gamble too many top picks to the extent that some have suggested.....

Diggs was ALWAYS complaining. I do not believe the stories that Allen did not know about the trade. I am sure Allen not only knew, but wanted him gone. That being said, losing Diggs and Davis is a big blow. ...agreed on Allen knowing.

I thought he and Allen were BFF's? ...there is clearly a 'shelf life' with diggs. .....after a while, he gets pouty and whiny, and seems to default to deflection when a play doesn't click, and i think that gets old for the other offensive players, and especially, with the quarterback, who already feels pressured to get him the ball to keep him from getting moody again.

...it's not always 'everybody else''.... ...and when he stops making the plays he is supposed to make, like that dropped bomb in the playoffs, and at a crucial time, and which could have changed the outcome of that do or go home game.......

if you 're gonna be a constant pain in the ass, you have to make those plays....

There's more to the Diggs trade than cap - there's serious discontent on his part, although I don't know the details. ...i'm a half hour outside of buff, and orchard park, and even when it hasn't been 'big 'drama, it's always there. and you could feel it, and you could also see it on the field more and more, and then that huge drop in the playoffs.....and it has increasingly hurt the offense with josh allen feeling that pressure, like he always has to keep him happy, so that he doesn't start to bpout again ........past the point where it was too much for tool little in return...

...not to be cap'n obvious, but the offense has been what 'needs fixing' all year, and initially, due in large part to mccheese, and his play calling, his lack of flexibility, whatever, and to try and turn that in to something lasting after cutting bait with mcd, there were/are plenty of reasons to not expect that unit to be a force in time they had to change course.

.....regarding the current pieces, the new oc has limited credentials prior, and had to try and run with an offense which was not his own, and wasn't effective, to that point, and with a rookie 4th round pick running it, and with tweeks he tried to make having mixed, to poor results, which when considering the above, would be expected, and especially against the defenses he had to face.

..... i also know that it is not easy to maintain a successful offense throughout a season, as it does evolve, as defenses evolve, and try and counter what you are doing well, and you have to do the same, or you will go stale. ....being in the bills market, i saw dabol struggle at times with the same, trying to keep up with what defenses were doing to counter what you do well, so you need to not only pit together than offense, but also not stand still, and always evolve, as what works today, may not, next week.

...all of that said, coach wise, i like what we have outside of the oc, and think that if we can keep the majority of the coaching pieces that we have, bring in a promising young oc, or solid established one, and let him do his thing, while adding more on field pieces where needed, we might have something here....
