Re: Ziegler

Everyone who begged for Jalen Carter were right. The people who are always telling everyone to be patient are always wrong., and they made excuses for passing up a generational talent in Jalen Carter. Short sighted nonsense aside, others passed on Carter as well, for obvious reasons, and a less than glowing review by his own coaches, if i remember correctly, didn't lessen the gamble.

The real test will be after he gets comfortable again. Did he grow up, or will he revert to turdom. We'll see....

Agreed, though Diggs is a whiny bitch, and it adds pressure on J Allen to try and keep him from pouting .

Re: Tre Tucker

We had a lot of holes. Looks to me like we may well have filled, and gotten a lot stronger in some crucial areas, and on the cheap, relatively speaking. We have remaining holes, which i am sure we will fortify with good players, some perhaps on the decline, on affordable 1-2 year deals. Those guys are always there later, much like Perryman was.

Next years draft, i expect, we will fortify other positions of need for the longer term. You can only long term address so many areas each off season, and with far less money paid to players no longer on the team, next year should also provide far more flexibility.

Re: Rounds 4-7 Saturday- many picks to discuss

Tony Pauline’s Scouting Report for Nesta Jade Silvera
Strengths: Tough, nasty defensive tackle who began his career at Miami. Flashes an explosive first step off the snap, displays good movement skills, and is tough to stop. Plays with outstanding leverage, quickly locates the ball handler, and gets off blocks to make plays against the run. Powerful, bull rushes blockers off the line of scrimmage, and collapses the pocket. Consistently draws double-team blocks. Moves down the line of scrimmage and makes plays.

Weaknesses: Must develop more moves with his hands and become quicker disengaging from blocks. Marginal pass rusher.

Overall: Silvera is a nice-sized defensive tackle who plays with a high-revving motor and solid fundamentals. He exceeded expectations last season, and his draft stock has continued to move north since January. He offers possibilities as an interior lineman in a four-man front and could eventually develop into a starter.

Nesta Jade Silvera Combine Measurements and Results
Height: 6’2″
Weight: 304 pounds
Arm Length: 32 7/8″
Hand Size: 9 7/8″
Bench Press: DNP
40-Yard Dash: 5.16 seconds
10-yard Split: 1.77
Vertical Jump: 29.5″
Broad Jump: 9’2″

Re: Rounds 4-7 Saturday- many picks to discuss

Having had football as part of my life for nearly 60 years and never once have I seen an organization nail every single draft pick.

But here at RF we are blessed with the incredible riches of a few dudes that know how each one of these young men’s professional careers will turn out.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you. You guys deserve so much more than this, but thank you. I really mean it. I don't care who you are, that was a tender moment right there.

Re: Who would you pick at 7?

The racing incident is the least of his worries

Work ethic issues

For being such a top tier talent where is the production , we ask it of other prospects

Turned up to the biggest day of his professional life so far so out of shape he couldn’t finish drills, it should have been the opposite he should have been in the gym getting in shape keeping out the way

All that on top of immaturity issues

If the red flags are showing now what else don’t we know about

Gonzalez
Witherspoon
Wilson
Murphy

Should be the picks at #7 ....and sighing for guaranteed millions is less likely to 'motivate' him after the fact.

Carr talked like Tarzan, played like Jane. I don't need to bend stats to know what i saw with my own eyes, time after time. Consistently heartless play and squandered plays and drives.

Re: Raiders sign QB Jimmy Garoppolo (3 years / $67.5M)

I remember being like, Gannon...really, Rich Gannon". That ended up being one badass QB and those were some fun years being at those games. Shame he never got that SB win! He deserved it! I was happy when we got him, and said so. Had the Chiefs played him rather than Elvis the Muppet, who was returning from injury in the playoffs, they might not have been bumped, and we may not have had him available to us. .

Re: Raiders sign QB Jimmy Garoppolo (3 years / $67.5M)

I've always wondered if Mark Davis was behind that in a "Let's give this combo one more shot along with a stud WR and see if he can finally get it done" way.

It was obvious to nearly everyone here that Carr needed to go before he lost all trade value, but that's exactly what happened. It's difficult to believe that NFL professionals didn't see that as well. This has always been my thinking.....and the politics with the fans, in a league were a lot of more casual fans don't know 'what they are seeing'. Hell, even after betting on himself and looking like shit, there are still a lot of 'Carr fans' blaming his being let go on everyone but him.

Re: Raiders free agency moves and re-signs

I think if we are looking for starting LBers × 2, a starting CB, a starting DT, and a starting offensive guard with a bunch of late round picks we are dreaming.

We took two DTs late last year, yet it remains a huge need.

This is the optimistic player count also - I am assuming Moehrig, Hobbs, Pala-Mao all step up and Jones plays closer to his contract. We have no idea on that. Realistically, i expect us to have to fill some of those after the fact with low cost FA's and later after cuts down the road. I do feel that we can potentially fill 'half' of those needs with the draft, also with 3rd - 5th round trade ups but until we do, we didn't. I would rater package some of the mid round picks for guys we like i those areas, (quality over quantity) and feel like we may have addressed those needs for years to come

Until draft time, and after, (seeing how they pan out) for that matter, its hoping for the best....

Re: Raiders free agency moves and re-signs

We have cap space but so many holes to fill. We don't have much cap space per player to spend. It's going to be a lot of cheap low end starters guys and hope they break out With so many needs and so much dead cap, i think we are heavily reliant on the draft and economy FA pick ups, and with the goal of building off of that the following year wit far less dead cap . Put the pieces in place as best able this year, and due some real damage next year.

We really do need a strong draft, obviously.
