Las Vegas Raiders general manager Tom Telesco was thought to be safe for another season by most observers, even after the team fired head coach Antonio Pierce. That changed on Thursday, and now we know why.

In an appearance on ESPN’s “NFL Live,” Adam Schefter offered some context on why the Raiders decided to part ways with Telesco after just one season. According to Schefter, Raiders leadership was concerned that Telesco’s presence would be a deterrent to some potential head coach candidates.

“The Raiders … clearly prefer that the head coach and GM come in together at the same time, work together on the same page, and move forward in the same direction,” Schefter said. “They did not feel that Tom Telesco, obviously, would be somebody that would be as appealing to some of the head coaching candidates that they are speaking with.” In other words, a HC who wants personnel control.

Yeah that's crazy what is being said is they are going to sit their pro-bowl QB to play Jones in the playoffs to make his value look better in the best possible case. No way. I doubt their predicting injury and if so, we can play him to shop him.

How about this: You need a backup QB so activating any backup QB you feel you might need is just doing your job and not sending mixed signals. Calm down big fella, I didn't say they were going to play him in the playoffs. Just bring him in to camp to get some work, and maybe get someone to make an offer.

And I'm not trying to get political here but Joe Biden had major brain surgery twice in his life, whether folks want to admit it or not any major surgery like that takes a toll on how you age. That's kind of besides the point that Carroll is a managerial styled coach. He'll bring the knowledge of how to run an entire football program, as well as PREMIUM coordinator candidates that handle the majority of the X's and O's. If he had brain surgery like that he shouldn't have run for president.

Raider real season and Golf's Majors just around the corner.

I keep seeing mock drafts having the Raiders select a wide receiver, McMillan. Why? I know mocks don't really mean much, but the Raiders don't need a WR unless he's another Megatron, which this guy isn't quite there from what I've seen and read.

With pick #6 TT & Co. can go BPA and that should be a OL, DL or CB, which this team also needs desperately.

God after 20+ years since Raiders have been relevant and more than 40 years since our team was great, can we FINALLY turn the corner and change it back to the Raiders being consistently a very good, dominate, relevant team.

Firing AP today was the first step. I hope the next ones are good decisions too. I'm with you on the WR; we need OL and DL much more. The corner would be a good choice too. From what I've read this WR is just tall, not fast.

Guydon is fine. The offseason he has high hopes and looks at the bright side. By the first 1/4 of the season when it’s obvious the Raiders suck balls again, his mood tanks because the let down is severe.

Sanders is not the best prospect in the draft, not even close.

This team doesn't need a QB in the 1st rd. It needs coaching and staff upgrades, and then line players on both sides of the ball. Worrying about what useless QB to take in the 1st rd. is a fool's errand at this point. Untill coaching and staff.... and especially O line is fixed.... nothing really matters.
