This is not a one year fix. If we hire Ben Johnson he’s going to have a long leash. We shouldn’t get tied into a long and expensive contract on a mediocre to above average QB. Need some patience here to get this all right.

I wanted to keep Telesco and was po’d when he was fired. GMs should get a chance to hire their own coach and he never got that chance so he never got to give us his best shot. Using that same logic though, a team President, or head of football ops, or whatever you call Brady, should get his own GM, and by extension, his own coach as well. It makes complete sense to me now.

But thanks for the info, guess I'll just have to figure out the other "tricks" as I go along. This forum format is a little outdated but in time it’s easy to figure out. We do lack some features I’d like to add one day but to do that, we’d have to migrate to a new setup (which inevitably everyone will hate because nobody likes change). I’m holding off on that, hopefully until ai is far enough along to customize it exactly the way we like with the features added without changing more than necessary. I just don’t have the coding skills to do it myself, it’s a minor miracle we have this tbh.

I feel the sentiment, but I think any number of would be head coaches would come here. It is a state of the art facility. It is a destination city. It is a storied franchise... although, mired in defete, at this time. There are only 32 of these jobs to be had. Why not take the chance to be the one to resurrect this once mighty behemeth of a team? Yes.... I take my shots at the franchise, but If I was one of the candidates to take this job..... I'm all over it. I am not so sure. Why would the owner fire a GM that he shackled an incompetent head coach with? Why not just let Pierce be the GM if you are going to pull that shit. Yes, we are a storied franchise but the only people that buy that anymore are Raider fans. The league collectively thinks we are a joke. The Raiders have been bottom dwellers longer than they were a great organization which must seem like an urban legend to the younger fans.

I applaud your optimism but I do not see this team turning the corner until Bowl Cut's head rolls.

Ingredients for success:

Fire the coach and GM every year.

Bowers and JPJ were givens. Glaze is a nice find. What other rookies made any impact? Have you been paying attention the last couple of decades? Many "givens" were routinely passed up for reaches by previous GMs its sickening. Finally a GM calls the correct pick and they are just "givens". Funny stuff.

Sanders has admitted quite openly that it’s all about the money well before football. He is promoting himself and his sons to get the most money for all. Nothing wrong with that and he doesn’t hide it. I hope they stay away from the Raiders though

Nothing is off the table IMO. Coming off an Injury and him squealing about a new contract already. A lot of teams on the cusp would give valuable pieces away to acquire him. IIRC, the Steelers brought Mike Tomlin in just to satisfy the rule. He blew them away in the interview and got a second interview and almost two decades later… Not exactly true.

It was Goodell that stepped in at some point and inserted himself in the situation when the Steelers were all set to hire Wisenhunt. And I still contend had Tomlin not been hired by a solid organization people wouldn't be singing his praises.

The fact that he was a world-class coach at one time does not mean he's one now.

Hire Coen and Draft Milroe and let the two develop a relationship together. Raiders would have to start the season and maybe go all season with AOC, but I can live with that while still building out the roster.
