My money is on a CB if we get stuck at 7.

If Stroud is there at #7 I would take him, but I do not want to give up another #1 to move up. I would just go with Stidham in that case. Levis is a career backup and Richardson is too flawed. There are things he can't do naturally that can't be taught.

If da Bears throw in a lifetime supply of bowl cuts for Markie D I do this deal!

I have only had 4 Xanax’s and a small bump of fentanyl so I am good thanks! sadly a beautiful 2 year old girl with blond curly hair died last fall here of fentanyl exposure. Her folks were in a homeless camp and dragged that beautiful little child in there to stay and she somehow got exposed.

As we know Gruden f’d this team and the drafts led us to where we are now.Thin as hell and a couple stars…one we had to trade for. That guy sucked so bad it’s unbelievable. On top of that his talent evals were so terrible he passed on Brady for Carr…freaking Carr.Brady then goes out and promptly throws for 40 tds nback to back. Makes me sick.Z and McD better get a long damn leash if you ask me.

Reggie didn’t do us any favors, but got us out of cap hell. The wonder boy Gruden did nothing but f this team.

Sorry, rant over Nothing to be sorry for, good sir.

Gruden fucked us so bad that if it came out that his whole tenure was a revenge tour for being traded to Tampa it wouldn't even begin to raise an eyebrow for me.

The more I look at the QBs the more I want to draft defense. I don't like any of them. I would not be disappointed if they took a shot on a QB and failed. But the options this year are underwhelming. Let's go get Brady

Kiper speaks on Will “The Thrill”

https://twitter.com/melkiperespn/status/1616217193829617665?s=46&t=EHb3dCvmlL6Ht_2kcB_vaw I think there is two categories with the “so called” top QB’s

Day 1 starters - Young & Stroud
Hard Projects - Levis & Richardson

The issue with the Levis & Richardson crowd is they are hard stuck on there guy & won’t admit the flaws are a real issue.

Both have had there problems outside of there ability but in a stronger QB draft both would be 2nd maybe even 3rd round project the weakness of this draft all of a sudden pushes both into contention for being high pick when they really shouldnt be

We’re in draft season where the line between opinion & fact gets very blurry

I’d be happy with Myles Murphy at #7 but would rather somehow get Trenton Simpson, i’m all for doubling down in the 2nd & picking up either Drew Sanders or Jack Campbell after signing David Long in FA

LB & DT need work badly more than any other positions on that defence

Re: Who would you pick at 7?

First, I'm not responsible for what you may have meant to say, nor is this an interrogation. You asked if there was a problem with his ABILITY to pass and my answer was no. Now that you have rephrased the question, yes, there are problems with accuracy from a consistency standpoint related to mechanics rather than an inability to throw an accurate pass. Again, is there a point, because I covered this previously?

-- Wed Jan 18, 2023 5:51 pm --

Levis had 5 years Richardson should have taken another one or two himself, certainly had the eligibility to do so.

I don't blame him for getting paid instead but he doesn't get a pass for going for the bag after 16 starts or whatever.

He has so much room to grow it is ridiculous and that is what is intriguing about him as a prospect.
You can imagine him becoming a force to be reckoned with but I don't get why it is so hard to admit that he is very far from anything resembling a finished product.

He can't possibly run this offense anytime soon. Can't get through the progressions consistently enough. Right now he is mostly one read and take off and run if it isn't there along with some very nice "playground" ball when everything breaks down.

Little anticipation. Needs to grow in commanding an offense.

A lot of it is time and experience but there are also things that the time and experience just work as proof in the pudding.

The inexperience combined with the production in the limited starts makes me extra wary. High Jamarcus factor with more performance based red flags than the OG, the interviews better be amazing.

Late 1st with a solid roster to mid 2nd for any team, I'd roll the dice because the potential is so through the roof but at 7 I won't riot but I think it is reaching and playing with fire, Richardson leaves too much to the imagination for me as a passer and as a field general.

The Great Blue North Draft Report
Notice a trend?

https://gbnreport.com/2023-first-round-mock/ I'm not liking the "trend" ...
To me Richardson is a poor man's Lamar Jackson.
His stats are not inspiring. And are a hair below what LJs were.
... Where I think we could make a Great Trade with Baltimore IF'n the Ravens continue to screw up the LJ contract talks.
Ravens will NEED a running QB to fit the system they built around LJ. If LJ is done with Baltimore and takes his show on the road... I'd love to see what what kind of haul we could milk out of them.

I'd be disappointed if the Raiders drafted Richardson in the 1st. I guess if they trade back and get a high enough compensation then picked Richardson I'd be ok. But drafting such a project in the 1st at pick 7 wouldn't give me a good feeling about this front office.

Re: Who would you pick at 7?

If one of the qb's is there a tradeback is very doable. I hate our spot too, trade back, cb in the mid first, get more seconds from tradeback and Carr, go defense in second and third, draft o line prospects in later rounds.

My favorite thing about the other site was BK constantly posting: You won't BELIEVE what's going on over in PREMIUM! So here is the dirt. I was a Mod over there for about a year. For those who are not aware, your IP address can be viewed by the Mods on sites. It is a useful tool in case someone who gets banned tries to get back on a site. It has other useful purposes as well. But one of those tools is you can see the location of a poster. And most IP addresses are unique unless you are part of a group IP.

So here is where the fun begins. "Willis the Raider" was in Florida....most the time... He was a low level intern in the film editing area. So he got to see who the big wigs were viewing going up to the draft. As it got closer, the amount of film on certain players increased so he was able to determine who was being bumped up in priority. One of the guys on the site was a friend so he hooked up "Willis" to the site owner. So that was how they were able to post up some stuff that was fairly legit....I say fairly because.....

After Willis completed his internship, he went back to Florida. No longer an insider. But the site owner used other fairly weak tips here and there to make some educated guesses on stuff. All the sudden, the IP address for Willis is the same as the owner, and at various times other locations. I saw Willis in New Jersey, California, New York, Missouri and other places. The site owner was using the "Willis" moniker to put up stuff to keep the PREMIUM section paid up. And if he got it wrong, he would just say "Willis" messed up.

Now do not get me wrong, "Willis" is still working in the sports world down in Florida. He does get some stuff from time to time, but he is no Shefter.

I just used my position as a Mod to dig in and get the dirt. "Willis" was Legion for he was many.

New mock at CBS Sports has this player for us and I like it because of my call for a LB since what seems like 25 years.

Trenton Simpson LB, Clemson, Jr. 6'3" / 240 LBS
PROSPECT RNK: 5th POSITION RNK: 2nd.
Another big defender who's a dynamic athlete. Simpson can become the quarterback of the Raiders defense.

Re: Who would you pick at 7?

Personally, I struggle with this draft slot.

I don't like Murphy at all. A tweener that isn't good at either.

Tyree Wilson doesn't feel like a top 7 pick.

I really don't want to draft a CB that high.

The kid from Northwestern has arms that give me Robert Gallery flashbacks.

I want to wait until 2024 to draft a QB, because I don't feel the current regime will be here, but if we took one, I wouldn't be mad. I'm kind of looking for 2023 to be a wash year, whether people like that or not. I said it soon after our draft position was solidified, it's a bad spot. The only guy I think is worth a pick (provided Stroud, Carter, Young and Anderson don't fall) is Anthony Richardson, and even with that there is more than desirable risk involved. Outside of that, a trade down is the best way to reflect the value.

Re: Wild Card week games

The only way I could be even partially okay with Brady is if we also drafted a guy. No, the only way anyone should be ok with Brady is IF he comes dirt cheap. But he won't.

Raiders NEED to use the money saved on Carr to build the D. Not to spend it on an over the hill QB....even if they draft a QB.

No, this offseason, the Raiders must focus on building a D through BOTH free agency and the draft.

I DON"T want to pay big for any of these over the hill OR mid-tier QBs. We have been there and done that.

Anyone with a different view/opinion has been mocked to death or banned. I would say being a fan of a team so much that you post on a forum about it daily, buy shirts with logos on them, spending 1000's to go see them in person, pretty much qualifies as being in a cult. So Im not going to call you wrong on this one.
Im in the cult of "I want this damn team to win before I die" cult

Re: Who would you pick at 7?

As far as Skoronski goes..I would prefer him at guard. If we get Tom I wouldn’t mind an offensive guy at 7.Skoronski or Mayer who I think will climb like crazy.I prefer D,but if they want help for Brady I’m down.

Some say 7 may be high for a guard, but I love the kid and see him as a nasty Raider type that is a guaranteed starter for 10 years. We can do worse. Here is what the scouts are saying on Skoronski:
"[Skoronski is] athletic, moves well, and is smooth," said an AFC Director of player personnel. "He has very short arms, like 32 inches - he plays with better length than he has - but he doesn't have a tackle body and looks more like a guard. Some guys I have spoken with compare him to Jonah Williams and some others have said Jonah Jackson."6/28/22:

Skoronski is slated to play left tackle for the Wildcats in 2022, but NFL teams have him as a guard on their preseason watch list. That is easy to understand because he is short and lacks length for tackle as a pro. Skoronski broke into the starting lineup as a freshman and played well over the past few seasons. Skoronski is a tough, polished technician who could be a good NFL guard.

At 7, I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole plus why are we discussing offensive guards & tackles when the areas of need are linebackers, safety, corners.

Top ten qb picks since 2015:

Winston
Mariota
Goff
Wentz
Trubiskey
Mahomes
Mayfield
Darnold
Allen
Rosen
Murry
Jones, D
Burrow
Tua
Herbert
Lawrence
Wilson
Lance

What is that, 6 keepers out of 17? Don't care for the odds. That is why you have to keep fishing until you reel in a keeper instead of either falling in love/making it work for the kids or feeling burnt, getting jaded, and resorting to the recycling bin for last legs Ryan types over and over as is sort of our historical tendency.

Our continuous unwillingness to take it on the chin seeds our fields with taking it on the chin just in other ways and has spread to every position to the point we don't even seem to be inclined to build our lines.

Drafting has become a way to maybe score a back, endlessly swing and miss at safety, and to fill holes we can't buy any other way out of with "high floor" guys that have limited potential and bust even as envisioned.
