I've harped on his age a lot. I guess when you look at the ages of the other coaches in the division, it doesn't seem as crazy - especially when you look at how comparatively old Reid and Payton seem. Harbaugh seems young for his age too, but maybe a hip replacement and some kind of heart surgery slow him down too. I am not arguing with what you are saying. Unfortunately, the geezers in our division have something to work with. I like Papa Pete as a coach. The question in my mind is how is he going to react if/when we shit the bed (the probability is high). Will he say fuck this shit and bounce or does he have the stomach for torture for a few years.

I am not sweating this. I wanted Coen before Johnson and we are still in the game. The Bears (despite the noise about Williams) were the front runners all the way. If we strike out on Coen, it will be bad (but still better than keeping AP).

I don't feel good about Johnson. I think him getting the same agent as Campbell makes me think he is staying put (I could be reading this wrong, but just my take).

I agree. The rookie played well after the first few games (18 TD's and 2 picks). He is going to be a good building block. I think fans do not differentiate his attitude and his play.

I know everyone is down on Williams, but if am an offensive minded HC candidate, there is ZERO comparison between him and the rest of the QB's playing for a team with a vacancy. Give me the soon to be year 2 QB on a rookie contract who I think I can mold vs the rest of the pack. Williams was not great, but he did protect the ball his last dozen games (15 TD's and 2 Int's).

The Bears are definitely our main competition for a top HC candidate (despite what some are saying). If McCarthy goes there, it will be HUGE for us.

We have a lot of players on the defensive side of the ball I would like to resign.

Yeah that’s BS. No way the most highly sought after coach this cycle and last needs to use any team as leverage.

Basically if he is interviewed and the team wants him the only question is how much will they pay him. And from his perspective it’s whatever he tells them to pay him. He is picking the team and not vice versa.

Jim Harbaugh did a GREAT job this season. On paper, the Bolts looked like they had one of the worst skill position players in the league at the beginning of the season. They are in great shape with the cap and I could see many players wanting to play for Harbaugh.

Now it's just a traveling circus. The teams with the most money win. They can just jump from team to team. It's like baseball but with no contracts.
It's been years and years since these guys were students. I have always considered it minor league football. The good players have been well compensated for decades but now it's ridiculous. I rarely watch ncaa any more Its funny you mention baseball as I was actually going to mention it. Great analogy. I am a Reds fan. I know they have zero chance of ever winning. They have one of the most exciting players in baseball in Elly De La Cruz. They are never going to be able to resign him. They are just a farm team for the Dodgers, Yanks, etc. If the NCAA does not step in, college football is done.

I was just reading about Carson Beck and how he is going to make more $ next year (4 mill) than the Steelers George Pickens (3.1 mill). College football will be never be the same in the next few years because of the NIL $. I think the NCAA could have done a much better job getting $ to the players while keeping the landscape level.

Not saying Im a fan of his in any way but 3/4 of the stuff people blame him for are pure speculation. He is their boogeyman they can blame all wrong on. I agree Florida. I am not a fan of his but he has done some things right. Moving the team (sure he had lots of help) and building one of the best infrastructures in the league was a solid play for football operations (never mind his pocket). Lets be honest. What player/coach would have wanted to go to that last shit hole (both location and infrastructure). Mark has made disastrous personnel decisions but he indirectly admitted to his mistakes by quickly fixing it via firings (which have been very expensive and most owners hold on to trash far longer). Mark had foresight in regards to Brady. He saw that getting the GOAT involved would potentially be a major coup in strengthening football operations (and he gave him a heavily discounted buy in to do so). I know its early in the Brady relationship, but I can already see positives. I hate everything Patriot (including Brady), but I can differentiate the player and who he is now. I see the benefit of having Brady on board for recruitment alone (shades of legends like Magic and Kobe and what they did for the Lakers). I think he also gives this laughing stock of a franchise a little more credibility (the bar was low) for the time being. That goodwill will only last so long.

Hondo Carpenter stated he gets the feeling the Raiders prefer an experienced head coach. From the interview lists I've seen, that narrows it down to Saleh & Carroll. Take it for what it's worth.

I personally think it's either Johnson, Monkin, or Coen. I think Brady has a preference for an offensive minded guy.

Unless there is a dark horse out there. Maybe a Bill Brady (doubtful), or Tomlin is let go in Pittsburgh (very doubtful). Hondo is an ass clown. As far as the Raiders preferring an experienced HC, I just do not see it other than Pete. Experienced HC's have experience because they were fired for one reason or another. I think its smart interviewing Saleh just to keep the lines of communication open. I highly doubt (hopefully I am not wrong) they would offer him the HC job, but he would be a good get as DC.

I don't mind hiring a GM along with a head coach. I don't want a puppet GM who just goes and gets a Garoppolo because the head coach has worked with him before though. I suppose having Brady overseeing the GM might prevent that. This. Not hating on TT, but I will throw him out as a sacrificial lamb if it means getting a top tier HC. Also, I am not reading to much in the Saleh interview. I think they want to keep relations strong as he could eventually be a DC candidate.

If we get either a Agnew/Johnson combo or a Sptek/Coen combo, we should all be thrilled to death. This would really put our franchise on the right path.

He has done a REMARKABLE job especially considering KC takes away from their D to feed their O (draft and cap assets). Every year I think they will fall, and the fuckers do not. I am not arguing with what you are saying. You are spot on that our OL is a cluster fuck. Unfortunately, there is nobody who is worthy of a pick in the first round. I think we are better served getting a STUD defender (there are a few) than reaching for a position of need.

Raising the white flag before the season even starts. Fucking Mark better role with this clown for the entire year. No offing him mid year. No making a interim coach who wins a couple of games and the players push to get him the full time gig. Start with the tank and finish the tank. Do not half ass it.

He is actually rather human. He has done some great things in the community with his money, and for that, he is a good guy. His getting diddled by a hooker? Not as great but we all have our shortcomings when it comes to the fairer sex. I do not think he personally has had much to do with the "cheating" the Patriots got called on, but then again, what do I know? Hell, I wish the Raiders would cheat to get a ring or two. I directly know some people who were impacted by his generosity (one who was a homeless veteran and the other was a little league family who went on his team plane that he donated to the team to go to the little league world series). He gives a ton of money to the community (homeless, education, etc.). He is the best friend to veterans (our FORGOTTEN heroes). He has set up housing and has his players constantly reaching out to veterans (no I am not one but APPRECIATE everything they have done and are doing). Take a look at all the times he has given his team planes to charitable causes. I loved how he handled the BS when players were kneeling for the Anthem. He told his players not to kneel and told them if they had a civic cause that they were passionate about, he would give them a check and jumpstart their cause. His good deeds are endless if someone cares to take a look. Someone calling him a grade A cunt is foolish at best.

AP went from 5 (granted he was not HC for an entire season in year one) to 4 (and 2 of those victories were gifted). Team took a down swing. Nobody was expecting miracles, but an uptick should be needed (which he failed) to keep his job.
