It’s cute that SoCal and Oregon have the Raiders but the NorCal Bay Area gets the KC game. I need to find out what the local Sacramento and Bay Area stations think about this. It's like the NFL is doing their best to say to those viewers, please, PLEASE become 9'er fans. Because the Raiders are still very large in this whole metro and the local stations are taking what seems like a forced financial hit. I can't see them not wanting the Raiders, once the 9'ers are off the table as their next team to show.

It no longer matters. They won a game and took themselves out of the #1 sweepstakes. Time to stop arguing over something as dumb as winning or losing a game.

Time to move on and do the next best thing that can be done. I'm not a GM so, I don't know what that might be.... neither is anyone else on here ... or anyone else really know what the next best thing is. We can speculate all we want about what's going to happen, how many years we will suck because we won a game, how no one will coach here, how no FA's want to play here, how everything just sucks and will forever :smirk: .

The only thing standing in the way of progress is the guy at the top. We don't know yet if he will let our newly aquired guys do their job without interference. There is nothing to be gained or solved by obsessing over a won football game! Hell.... they are likely to win another one. :grimmace: Let it play out and see what happens in the draft and FA aquisitions. TT might just know what he's doing.

We'll end up in the draft wherever we end up.

We need O-line in the worst way, so we could get two in the first 2-3 rounds (which is unlikely, but not impossible).

RB in the 3rd. Etc.

I have maintained for years that without a star QB, you need to develop a ground and pound offense. D-linemen are still big, but LBs and DBs are smaller than they've since the early 60s. Get past the first level of the defense and you can crush teams with the running game. It's not a good recipe for comebacks, and teams can stack the line, but a decent QB with a legit play action ability can alleviate that.

If there's no chance at a star QB, then build the team the best way you can in every other way possible.

It comes from my background of playing sports at a lot of levels and hell just playing games with my friends. I can't stand to lose. I hate it. Why play the game if you want to lose? I know some want a high draft pick, but to lose to try and get that high pick is wrong on so many levels in my opinion.

I don't understand that perspective. Losing is so negative and creates such a bad atmosphere. Like someone said Bowers said after this game, "It just feels good to win".

I just never could or even now cannot understand wanting to or being ok with losing for any reason. Like probably every one on here, I’ve been a Raider fan my whole life (I’m 44, which means I’ve never enjoyed a Raider Super Bowl; I was 6 when they last won one, and my 6 year old self enjoyed it for a minute). I’ve never wanted to tank. I believe in establishing a winning coulture. But I’ve grown so discouraged, and I recognize that today’s NFL absolutely requires a legit QB.

This franchise won multiple games to finish last season, and it meant nothing this year. The way to create a winning franchise is to have solid coaching (AP and staff clearly isn’t that) and a legit QB, and the best chance at getting a legit QB is at the top of the draft. It doesn’t guarantee success, but it makes it more likely.

In short, I believe the best path forward is getting a franchise QB at the top of the draft, and because we won against Jacksonville and will win again against this terrible Saints team, that likely won’t happen this year. And that’s depressing.

I’d love to be wrong.

I wouldn’t be mad if new head coach kept graham. The defense has been playing average with a ton of injuries. If we brought an offensive minded head coach and he left graham and company in charge of the D, it could work.

I don't think anyone here really wants to lose. We all know it's best at this point to lose out, in order to improve the situation in the long run. I'm betting all of us root for the win every game.... even those that say otherwise. Honestly, for the first time I am really rooting for losses. I haven't been watching, however, so that makes it easier. I'll be watching tomorrow, so I'll probably be more conflicted for that game.

IMO only losers want to lose. Besides this team is bad enough they can go winless the rest of the way without tanking, No it's the opposite. We're sick of losing. Look at the Eagles, who I don’t think have an elite QB. WR room is solid, but Brown and Smith are no Chase or Jefferson. At RB, Barkley’s career is not only resurrected, he’s having his best NFL season, the best season an Eagles RB has ever had, and is only 482 yards shy of breaking Dickerson’s NFL rushing record with 4 games to go. (In a 17 game reg season. Dickerson did it in 16 games.)

The biggest reason is that Oline. The Eagles don’t fuck around when it comes to talent in the Oline. Even after losing Jason Kelce they’re ranked #2 this year behind the Lions.

Just look at that f’n size, and none of them are slow-footed morons. Mailata is a former rugby player. Jurgens once played TE. Becton a former Tackle. Johnson once played QB and TE before becoming a Tackle. (Outgrew the QB position. Injury took him away from playing TE.)

I like Hurts, like his leadership, but if they had an elite QB, they’d be the dynastic team all the talking heads fawn over and not the fucking Queefs.

Offensive line and a good QB and you’re a perennial playoff team. Offensive line and an elite QB, you’re playing Super Bowls.

Could not agree more. The offense starts and stops with the 0-Line. Doesn't matter who is under center if the line can't establish the rush, or pass block....they are destined to fail. I have two football theories:

1. Always build the OL, always draft OL even when you don't need it. Be known as Oline U of the NFL. Good OL will always trade well. Be the team known as having too many good oline man. Notice all those WR's in the top-25, media sure love them some of the most replaceable players in the game. Almost never overpay for a WR.

2. You have to bring as many defenders as you need to mess up the opposing QB's clock, you can't dilly all game with a no-pressure 4 man rush, it's like not even trying. Sure the best D would only ever have to send 4 for the most part, but when your not that team 99% of the time, you need to send more on avg to set the pace. Once you find out for that game what is needed, still always show aggressive formations, but mix in who goes or not, the QB is still affected. It's part of Al's theory of the QB must go down hard early, but it's more fleshed out as to what that actually looks like vs just a saying.

Laube did this and then AP decides to have Abdullah play almost every snap. McCormick had a handful of plays but that's it.

The Raiders have to see what the Raiders have with their young players, the season is a wash. Abdullah might be the oldest player on the team and I don't want t him back next year. Why the fuck is he still getting so much playing time?

I just gotta say I can’t believe how terrible Minshew is. I’ve been paying attention to him in the pocket, and every time his first read is taken away he gets happy feet and starts jumping around in the pocket and panicking like a rookie. I think he threw one deep pass early in the season but when’s the last time he’s even thrown a pass over 30 yards? No wonder the team can’t run the ball when you aren’t throwing passes more than 15 yards down the field. Just a horrible signing.

None....I wouldn't draft any of these qbs with a top 5 pick Then you wait until next year and hope you get Manning? Draft a mediocre one in the second? Draft Milroe and hope he reaches his ceiling? Just asking what the plan would then be?

If we punt on Ward and Sanders, then I punt on them on in the first couple of rounds.

Never cared less than in all my years of being a fan, going back to 1983. We’ve been cheated out of a whole season of football, but it has made me into a much more productive member of society. Although the players have their careers to think about, the worst thing this franchise can do today is win.
