Re: Mark Ingram?

We have much greater needs in the draft then a second string RB bros not if we want to keep Jacobs fresh. He needs someone who can spell him and taking a RB in the later rounds is not going to leave us out to dry. Ingram is almost toast so either we find another FA who will come in cheap but has tread on the tires or we take a change of pace back on day 3 and roll the dice.

I am not optimistic about finding a FA who can come in cheap but still take some of Jacobs reps with enough talent

Re: The Derek Carr Discussion Thread

ok, but the amount Derek got is a huge percentage of the dollars spent

and we got to top 10, not top 5, top 10 for a monster amount spent. and yea, it is on Carr, other QBs could have gotten to top 10 with far less spent, but Gruden wanted his top 10 offense with a needy QB so what choice did he have

Re: Watson or Carr

I doubt Tua was even close to 100% and since it was a lower body injury it would naturally affect his ability to throw the ball. I think once he gets close to 100% his overall performance will improve. Also, he was a rookie who was not expected to start. Calling him a bust after this year with all of that seems a bit premature

Re: The Derek Carr Discussion Thread

Wow, this guy IS stupid.

Easy to clarify.

If you think you have a pretty good QB on your hand (not a franchise type) and a chance to turn him around which is obviously the most important position in all of football what do you do? Spend your time money and effort on building the defense? What a fucking babbling brook.

Also, sometimes, many times even IF you want a certain defensive player for the team it just may not come to fruition because they don't want to come here or somebody offered them more money. We are talking about FA here when it comes to spending and not drafting players that you have to pay in the future. Putz. my concern is that Carr needs such a high percentage of the payroll on his side of the ball to get to top 10 and it ends up costing us on the other side of the ball and as a result the imbalance drops the entire team 6 or more slots in overall rankings

Re: If people stopped going to Dubow's click bait twitter.....

Carr was in the discussion for MVP in a year without a real powerhouse QB but as we have learned over the years Carr kinda wilted as teh season neared the end. He was fun to watch but sustained success was not his MO and even now we see that most years.

Re: The Derek Carr Discussion Thread

No, fitting a narrative would be emphasizing that he has the "most comeback wins," while completely ignoring that he has one of the worst win/loss records as a starter in NFL history for a player that has started as many games as he has. in 7 seasons, he has the second worse record, and David Carr has the worst

Re: I will never question Ivan again.....

He wrestled at Iowa State, flew bombers in Korea, and worked as an engineer for Howard Hughes. There was nothing that man couldn't do (except beat diabetes). and he could've corrected the grammer of our "most intelligent" poster.

my old man's dad was badass as well, WWII vet, president of the California rifle association and took month long hunting trips up to Montana where they built the cabins they stayed in while hunting...with Roy Rogers of all people. I have the old 8MM footage of it.

fun fact, Roy used to drink his whiskey with milk in it because he never wanted a child fan of his to see him drinking brown liquor at a restaurant...true story straight from my grandfather.

They just don't make them like those old school guys anymore.

Re: I will never question Ivan again.....

Yea, and Devin White single handedly wrecked Payton's gameplan/attempt at hiding Brees's noodle arm. You throw enough shit at a wall something is bound to stick. The reality is, Cook has 9 fumbles for his career in the regular season, zero the year he played for us. All you guys patting Ivan on the back for his years of Cook bashing after the guy fumbled yesterday are pretty funny considering our QB fumbled 9 times last year alone but you tend to avoid that discussion. Cook has done far more good for the Saints over his years there than bad and the numbers bear that out.

But every dog has his day and yesterday Ivan was a dog so he can now put that on his resume.

Re: Allen Robinson liked a tweet linking him to Raiders

Ruggs found out that all the speed in the world does not matter when you run poor routes, and your QB does not see you because you are not where you should be. This is the biggest flaw in his game and will need a lot of coaching up. I still think we went the wrong direction with this pick and it may end up burning us for a few years.

Re: The Derek Carr Discussion Thread

a lot of guys never got to the super bowl but had nice little careers, so Carr would be in fine company. Unfortunately, as long as KC and Mahomes are on top of their game, we will be like every team in the AFCE during the Brady years....if you aren't first, your last and they were all last except one year and that was, I believe, the year Brady had a season ending injury early in the year.

Re: 2021 playoffs week 2

Just keep running until the Packers stop it.

Horrible run defense.

But it's a 3-4 defense, so it's MAGIC! I thought you said the 3-4 was a run defense, which actually was incorrect at the time you said it. But it should stop the run according to you.

fyi the Rams run a 3-4 base defense while the Packers run a 4-3 base defense.

oh and DCs matter more than you know....remember, your favorite owner was a defensive coach and ran our defense during our glory days, and Madden was also a defensive minded coach and he owned the 70s....so it sounds like you are contradicting yourself, which should surprise no one

Re: Official 2021 Free Agency Thread

no more mentors. get us football players not coaches in helmets. I am sick and tired of guys who 's best days are behind them trying to teach our guys how to play football. You want mentors, hire coaches. I want players who can come in and bust ass....not sit their asses on the bench

Re: Watson or Carr

Doubt it. You saw mariota for a portion of a game. seriously? Mariota was put into a game in progress with zero reps with the first team after being injured all season and coming in cold and that is apples to apples with Watson getting a full season with the firsts being the number one with a full off season of being the man?

people need to think before they type shit, seriously

Re: Raiders Hire Gus Bradley

the base set is only part of a defense, you will see teams play 43 and 34 sometimes in the same series. predictable defenses get slaughtered and Bradley knows this. the goal is to force the offense into the least likely option to gain yards. you do that by mixing up your looks so the offense is on their heels from the snap.

Re: are the Raiders and Agholor close on a two year deal ?

Oh yeah, let’s compare a 6 year vet to a rookie. And ya know, because Agholor had a MONSTROUS first couple seasons with his 283 & 365 yards.. (Ruggs had 452)

I like Agholor but are some forgetting who he was in Philly? Even this year he had some untimely drops. Big risk, big reward type of guy and likely always be. mrafasdfasd likes to skew things a LOT to match up with his agenda

Re: Just how statistically bad our Def was in 2020

defense was bad no doubt. Not our worst defense all time but very bad.

That being said, in the second half of the season (when we had one of the easiest schedules out there) we only gave up 2.5 more points per game, and yet we lost 5 games, again vs our easiest part of the schedule. We scored 2 fewer points total in the second half of the season.

so, in the second half of the season, where we had the "easiest part of our schedule" we gave up on average a field goal (rounding up) and scored 2 fewer points. I am not sure what to make of these numbers (my eyes tell me a lot of it is on Gruden and his play calling) but they paint a very inconsistent picture

Oh and for the record, 2006 was far worse on defense, it just so happens 2006 was our worst on offense as well. The Browns game will haunt me all the days of my life...

Re: Raiders Hire Gus Bradley

In line with my expectations.

Any words on which pass rushers they might be looking to add? I wish to see Carl Lawson/Ngakoue/Clowney/Melvin Ingram being mentioned.

Ingram probably not so much though because we have Ferrell for that role. But at LEO/Elephant...I am intrigued to see who they are targeting. that will take time, Gus just got hired and is putting together a staff. They will have to get together with the pro player scouts and the capologists and that is a ways down the trough

so the latest, Gruden wants to bring in Richard, but Gus has his eye set on Milus...seems at this time that Gus is getting to fill out his slots, but Richard may find a place on the staff if Gruden can find a place. Ron Milus was DB coach for the Chargers. I would prefer Richard but Gus should get his staff if he is gonna build his D

I think I would have been more excited for Wade or Richard but I am just a fan with no great expertise on any of them including Gus. Heck, I was excited about PG for awhile too. There is no where else to go but up.... it isn't as if this defense could get much worse right? Good luck Gus, I am your biggest fan..... right now anyway. how long have you been a fan of this team?

I'm impressed that people already know what's going to happen next season when this one is still being played. that's OK, only one guy will get it right but everyone will tell us after next year they knew what would happen all along.
dont know who that one guy will be but he will probably be the guy who says he got it wrong.
