Re: The Unofficial Fire McDaniels Thread

Ehhh...I know someone that still has somewhat reliable ties to the AD office at UofM and you might be setting yourself up for disappointment if you're on the Harbaugh or bust train

At any rate, barring a complete collapse of the team this year, I don't see McDaniels going anywhere. This board has a habit of getting into a frenzy with people echoing baseless posts. For example, the only thing I've read regarding JM getting fired is random tweets and/or fans on message boards. I haven't seen any reliable source actually post anything about him being let go. Im sure there's someone out there that has speculated, basically what we do on here, but nothing saying he has to win or else trust me, i'm not one of those 'has to be right' guys or someone who pings off of speculation from random sources

i really hope that what was expressed to me was wrong, i never want to see a team i've followed for almost 45 years circle the drain. if it means better days ahead though, so be it

let's see how this shakes out. there's 3/4 of season to go.

starting with sunday...

another point...got the denver road game out of the way early in the schedule instead of a snowy late november/december

same for buffalo game 2...

tough to start a season with two games on the road, but 1 game down

man that charger game was exciting at the end...the announcers were in it...no home field advantage here in la, there were a lot of miami fans...raiders alone in 1st place

the board members are infighting after a win...sounds about right...football is back lol

Re: Preseason game 3: Dallas

These network contract are fvkcing lame. so I watched the first half at my friends house on KTLA Channel 5, he has Spectrum Cable. then for second half we walked two blocks to a bar that has Direct TV, they put on KTLA channel 5 for us, and you get a screen that says game wont be aired for whatever reason, and has a phone number to call..... WTF, Channel 5 is Channel 5 in Los Angeles, why not air on direct tv and air on Spectrum cable if you have to pay for both to get a Free network channel thats broadcasts in the air for free antenna reception. i have directv...this situation truly sucks. getting caught in the middle of cable revenue wars is never fun. upside is that the regular season is here, so no more channel 5 in la moving forward - or long sideline interviews while the game is going on.

Re: 2023 Draft is finished-- your assessment and grades from the "experts"

can't realistically grade until 3 years pass so will give a b-,
[c- if the wr turns out to be more tavon austin than tyreek hill]

it's a rebuild, and carr is gone, so i can't be too upset by the current regime's moves, though the trenton simpson availability in 3rd was heart rending...he's going to the right team [baltimore keeps scoring linebackers in the draft, and even when they have near-misses, they keep on drafting them until they hit]

same with jalen carter...i am not going to judge him by his experience in philly and say the raiders missed on picking him...he is going to a team with all of his georgia dawgs...and a strong eagles locker room culture...with a young, hard working qb at the helm as a role model...perfect situation...if he can't make it there, he won't make it anywhere...if raiders had drafted him he would not have done as well...raider locker room culture is not that strong [yet]

the key will be tyree's foot, if healthy and they can get a triple rush package [tyree, maxx, and chandler at olb on the field at the same time] in 3rd and long situations, the d will improve. at the least, tyree can spell chandler [realistic] with no drop-off on d, and even spell maxx [who doesn't come off the field ever but needs to be spelled in some of these games where the d is on the field for a long time or are playing in mile-high denver, humid environments like miami, etc]

and on offense, meyer...cannot underestimate the importance of having a classic raider te again [blocking and catching]...they are going to be a tremedous help on the line when one of the tackles are struggling against superior rushers...can scheme #87 to that side of the line

Re: Friday Night Fun: The 2nd and 3rd round picks thread

3 picks tomorrow...don't trade up!

i see value in both levis and hooker in r2, though it's concerning that teams are looking at levis's injury history which dropped him out of r1.

2 linebackers are still on the board...t simpson and d sanders...hmmm

porter and cam smith still there also

top te's are still there

have to get at least 1 lb in r2-3

these are money rounds...let's see what happens

Re: Who will we take at #7- Thursday is Here - Round one imminent

day 1 = ok
raiders didn't trade up [check]
they didn't go o-line 7 overall [though rumor is that az moved up in front to get the guy they wanted...this is a theme for the raiders over the years...getting jumped in the draft][check]
they held steady towards the end of r1 and didn't give up the farm to get back in r1 for a qb...hooker and levis are still on the board at the top of r2 [check]
they still have all of their remaining draft picks [check]
they didn't embarass the greatest fan base in the nfl like we've grown to expect in r1 [check]

all in all, ok
time will tell on the wilson pick

Re: Our first round pick - #7- Time to predict Thursday. (renamed thread but the same)

must be getting old

i thought r1 was 15 minutes a pick, see that it's 10

may be out and about during draft time tomorrow [early part] and wanted to time the raiders 1st round selection 'live' [on phone, or wherever]

love to see the raider crowd reaction to the first round pick live
in california, starts at 5
safe to say that the raiders would be picking somewhere around 6-615 [pacific]? any thoughts?

usually everyone knows #1 overall but nfl puts in the bs 'wait to announce the pick because...dramatic' but that's bs

remember when top 1-2 picks were getting contract parameters prior to the start of the draft? guess nfl didn't like that trend because it would take away from the pomp and circumstance [ratings]
oh, [after getting hit on head] this is all about the money?

i really want to tune in to the arizona pick at 3, then the raiders, then towards the end of r1 to see if anyone gets itchy and tries to trade back into the end of the 1st...the rest is whatever

looking forward to comparing notes w/all tomorrow night...i'd imagine it's going to be hard to get online during the raiders selection so will just say everyone enjoy the draft

Re: Our first round pick - #7- Time to predict Thursday. (renamed thread but the same)

checking out the boards...can't wait until draft is done [so we can stop guessing]

i'm ok with whatever at this point, as long as the organization doesn't embarrass their fans on draft day again.

still want the 1st round trade down [perhaps even 2x] to get more picks in the top 100-120...lots of [re]building to do on this squad. whoever they pick. may they be solid 2-contract starters, if not 1 or 2 perennial pro-bowlers, out of the many, at whatever position. is that too much to ask

who else has had to listen to co-worker fans of other teams yukking it up about their team's draft selections in seasons past while you counter, 'well, cle ferrell has a lot of potential and is solid' half-heartedly...'arnette is a good corner'...'team needed an offensive lineman and leatherwood is coming out of 'bama....'on and on, every year it seems

here's to a new era of drafting...two more days

Before people start bitching about another WR…he is super fast and returns punts and kickoffs. A need. a need, indeed...when is the last time the raiders had a real threat at st kr/pr [and why did k nixon blow up after he left the raiders for gb. timing]

Re: Raiders Finalizing a Deal with OJ Howard

Just looked at Howard's stats (all with Tampa Bay) and they are not all that great esp. the last three years. Ivan will be upset as Howard is not a "TD maker." What happened to retained Foster Moreau? He has visited the Saints and the Bengals. I hope he resigns with us as I have always thought he was pretty good. moreau played at lsu, and from louisiana. that plus playing with his former qb may be an opportunity he doesn't want to pass up. time will tell.

still want a te late rounds to push this lackluster group

Re: How the Raiders to Las Vegas happened?

I will take the time to read it at some point. I have a bad attitude about Mark Davis so maybe it will allow me to not hate him. I wanted a new stadium— I just wanted it in Oakland and the only way that could have happened is if Mark sold a sizable chunk of the team to a super rich person or entity so they could privately fund the thing with minimal contribution from the city and county.

So for me, it was Mark’s desire for control and more money versus less money and control but the Raiders could stay where they belong. I was idealistic. I attended at least one game a year in Oakland but may never attend a game in Vegas or maybe once when I settle on a bucket list. Meanwhile I still view him as a greedy doofus. haven't read the article [yet], though...

raiders had a good chance to move down here to los angeles. they would have been literally 20 minutes from my front door, of course i wanted to see it happen. but the powers that be nosed mark davis out - la is seen as this big honey pot [i don't agree], and that walmart money is long and stan gets what he wants.

imo, this was the best possible scenario, vegas. new stadium, don't have to share with a co-tenant, have the entire state of nevada to build fanbase [as well as bay area and los angeles fanbases, not too far away].

building anything in california is cost prohibitive except if you have super deep pockets and can grease the right skids. raiders, rams, chargers...all stadium issues/fighting politicians that resulted in moves.

Re: It all starts in the trenches

bars was actually a favorite of mine, outside of getting demolished by jones [tbh, jones was smoking a lot of o-lineman last year]

he could still make a good swing guard for depth - wouldn't want to have him as a weekly starter, but considering the state of the line and no depth whatsoever, may make sense

if raiders can get a better player in his spot [admittedly not a high bar], they have to do it of course

Re: Raiders trading TE Darren Waller to Giants (Pick 100)

this waller stuff was leaked after the fact...part of the dirty nfl business

i respected his game, short of the injury bug [with his drug past, he could not rehab like most nfl players hopped up on prescripts, i get it]

time will tell if this is the right move, having a true #2 now is actually a plus, the former qb had great production when he had cooper and crabtree

now to see if hunter is the next domino to fall [great #3 but not at the current price]

Re: 2023 Free Agents

How says he would took the same deal to come join us?

He's probably taking a very cheap deal to play for the Cheifs. Ring chasing. Unfortunately they're at the top of teams to join and we're at the bottom tom brady effect...winners attract players to teams...for years the raiders have been a place to go get paid, not to ring chase...

still...need a coverage lb

Re: Raiders free agency moves and re-signs

IMO the dumbest move on the list was Nassib and the most inexplicable one was Littleton as he seemed to lose it for the year he played for us. the 'aaron donald' effect
ad made a lot of money for his teammates, they should be sending him top notch scotch for christmas every year for the rest of his life
