I was going to say the same thing. The fact that they're so dominant (despite the colossal Lance failure) is a testament to how well run the team is.

Niner's defense is the opposite of ours. No matter who the coordinators and players are, they seem to be awesome. No matter who the coordinators and players are, we seem to be dogshit on D. Niner's defense is great because they have invested money in great players.

Our defense is built of some bargain basement price players with the exception of Maxx & Chandler Jones. Our LBers are so bad that except for two no team will use them even as backups. Our corners & safeties are probably OK. There is nothing that stands out. We will not win unless the team scores a min of 30 points/game. We were lucky to win the game against Denver. We should have signed Clelin Ferrel, he may have helped us in the present scenario.

Every time I see Watson, I think the Brown's actually gave that contract to a 15-25th ranked QB? He gave the Steelers 17 points last night. What is he doing well? He thinks he has wheels (is he slowing?) and took a few sacks because of this. I remember an old interview where Peter King once asked Bill Parcells about mobile QBs (I believe this was when Dallas signed Drew Bledsoe). Bill in his signature acerbic style, answered the question with a question to King. What is the job of a QB? When Peter hesitated Bill answered his own question by saying - his job is to deliver the ball accurately to receivers & tightends. I didn't watch the game but if Watson isn't delivering the ball to the receivers then he is not much of a QB. Physical skills such as 40 speed, arm strength & elusiveness are only going to decrease with time. However, with experience comes an understanding of the game, that not only compensates for the physical skills but over-powers it & that is when a QB comes into his elements.

If I were GM, Jalen Carter would've been the pick. He was BPA. We need to start getting results on the fucking field. The Raiders ain't choir boys.

Or maybe they are now, and that's part of the problem. If something untoward happens to Jalen Carter in LV, the same Raider fans would turn around and call the GM an idiot who drafted Carter after so many red flags.

Rough game for him for sure.

In terms of constructive criticism after rewatching his tape:

Negatives

- a lot of the lethargy was him being gassed. The Denver altitude is tough and he’s had all of 2 weeks of practice in the last 9 months

- the get off wasn’t always bad but he was often indecisive with his rush plan. You see him kind of go to this stutter step like he’s gonna try a cross chop and he winds up in a bull rush but with no momentum.

- bolles is a very good left tackle and kind of took him to school with hand usage. Pretty easily just knocked his hands away and neutralized the length advantage. You see the lack of passrush repertoire show up from there - really just no counters.

Going forward

- i think for him to be effective as a rookie you’ve gotta establish his identity. It’s athleticism and speed-power. Line him up wide in a 2 point stance and give him one job - get up field and get the QB. He’ll absolutely have reps like the Dallas game.

But using him in a technical base end role where he doesn’t have a ton of space and has all these containment responsibilities…. Not only is he not good at that right now but you’re neutralizing what he can do right now. That is a good suggestion. Line him up as an elephant, his job is to set the edge against the run, rush the passer, and occasionally drop into coverage as a stand-up linebacker or hand-in-the-dirt DE. A Willie Mcginest clone.

He was on the field for some plays, but was never part of the plays Renfrow is not a fit for this offense. Just look at Jakobi Meyers he knows the offense and is an immediate fit. Unfortunately for Renfrow, his contract prevents him from getting traded. I think we are waiting for some team to upgrade their receiving corps at which point he will be traded.

Defensive tackle & linebacker at cut downs from other teams will be interesting, possibly running back. Damien Williams has good vision, good speed, good power behind his pads, can catch. Raiders could do worse than Williams but I like him over White. Sincere McCormick looks pretty good, shame he got hurt last year. I'd take the chance on him making the practice squad though I agree.
For backup spots, I like the following LBers:
Toby NDukwe (Steelers)
Quincy Roche (Steelers)
Carter Coughlin (NYG Played for Patrick Graham)
Chris Board (Patriots)

The Raiders should trade for a starting LB to replace Luke Masterson. If the LBs don't pick up their game teams will run at will against us. We have to have the ability to stop at least either the run or pass. The CBs & Safety's are what they are but we could get good at stopping the run by upgrading the linebacking core. Needless to say, I don't like any of the Raiders backup linebackers & won't worry if all of them are gone.

None of our defensive players want to make the team. I haven't seen a single play made by the defense (maybe the ankle tackle by Duke Shelley was the best play). The defensive line & the linebackers are getting man-handled by the Dallas Cowboys offensive line.

Well all I can say is that it looks like Mark Davis is trying to turn the raiders into the las vegas Patriots 2. I mean that isn't the raiders. I don't care if Brady is a silent investor I mean how can you forget the tuck rule. That was the raiders game. Mark Davis needs to do some serious soul searching to find out who and what the raiders really are. He's tearing down everything his father built and stood for, I mean Al's last few years he was a bit off but nothing like his son. Mark Davis please find your true and real self be like your dad and not the so called cheaters. Mark has already found his true self, it's not his fault that you don't recognize what it is. He is a businessman, he has turned a team that was near last in franchise value to 10th and climbing. This is the main reason why Tom Brady is interested in being a minority owner. In a few years, the Raiders will be within the top 5 in franchise value and there-in lies his success. Unfortunately, a lot of people can't look past his bowl-cut hairstyle but inside that head is a very savvy business dude. It takes guts and business smarts to outwit a shark-like Adelson. So, like him or hate him, he has made positive moves for the franchise and that is a credit nobody can take away from him.

There were many occasions when Carr threw an interception and looked at JM as if to say look I threw where you wanted but see the result. My thinking is that Carr may have thrown the ball where JM wanted but he couldn't get his timing right & hence ended up throwing to the opposing team. Seeing this JM restricted his playbook & we know what happened next. The first glimpse of a real JM offense came against the 49ers when Stidham ran it.

JMD has been calling games for a long time and has experienced a lot of success doing so.

I would not be so fast to judge him harshly given his QB has come out publicly saying he did not even give it his best last season.

There were a lot of blown leads last year. I do think that the blame needs to be shouldered a bit by the D, a bit by that Carr who possesses tendencies to be overly conservative (I mean he has thrown the ball away on 4th downs) and JMD who was unable to light a fire under Carr. It may also be that JMD did get more conservative in some of the 2nd half of games. If that is the case, I think that is the only fault I find with his play calling.

One further note, Jacobs had his best year as a RB with JMD calling plays. Now, Jacobs himself deserves the lion share of credit for that feat, but, it does suggest that the play calling was not too predictable and there was a healthy balance between pass and run allowing Jacobs to not only play the entire season but also to be effective.

There are a lot of concerns I have about the Raiders, while I think JMD may have some adjustments to make, it is low on my list of concerns.

Scouts say he has to “visibly strain” himself to generate just the little velocity that you see, which is average at short distances and fades into below average at intermediate and deep throws.

He also only completed 29 percent of his deep passes last year Isn't that bad throwing mechanics though? It can be corrected to add slightly more velocity to his throws if he is willing to put in the work. What is not correctable is what your eyes see & how your head processes the information. Anyway, except for the elite talent every QB has to make changes to his footwork & throwing mechanics.
