Re: Mark said "Reggie is my guy"

If McKenzie was so great some other team would have hired him as their GM since he left the Raiders..... I dont know my bro, but as far as I know hes part of the Dolphins squad now as Senior personal Executive and they just put up 70 points on the Broncos. They are 3-0 and they have a solid ass team. Hes been there since '19.

Re: The Unofficial Fire McDaniels Thread

Who is the next guy if we do fire McDaniels although i’m not i favour of firing coaches every couple of years

I want a young defensive minded HC personally so i only see two good options:-

Brian Flores
Ejiro Evero

Flores makes sense if Ziegler stays being that Flores came from the Pats coaching tree & both were in that system at the same time for a while.

What i’ve always liked about Flores is that he has worked his way through the system having initially spent 4 years as part of the scouting department then moved into coaching that could be invaluable when it comes to drafting

The one thing that people may not like is that Patrick Graham maybe retained if it was Flores as he was DC under Flores in Miami & are close, Graham from what i heard seems like a good coach but he’s just not a good play caller so it wouldn’t bother me

As for the OC position i’d do exactly the same go for a young up & comer but would any of the good young OC take a side step to come here if not maybe a guy like Byron Leftwich especially if we’re draft a new franchise QB next year

Re: Make O’Connell Active

Jimmy G Sux Ballz......Said before would have much rather rolled with Stidham or Minshew and a rookie.......Jimmy on the cheap I could have accepted short term but I simply don't like the $$$ they paying him and with his restructure we're stuck with another dud and McD and Ziegler will be to arrogant/stubborn to make a change imo...Unless Mark lets him known his days are number (which he won't).

All around clusterfuck of epic proportions...Mark hasn't made a good hire yet and likely never will at this rate.

I'm all for starting AOC and seeing what he can do,at least he could possibly make teams fear the deep ball and assist Jacobs and the run game....Teams simply have no fear of the Raiders going downfield with Jimmy G at QB and are selling out against the run.

Re: Make O’Connell Active

I don't understand a lot of what goes on around here. On one hand people are calling JMD trash and blaming him for the horrible offenses and then on the other they want us to roll out a rookie who looked "OK" in preseason and throw him to the wolves against actual legit starters with the same trash HC calling the plays? You guys really think AOC is better than JimmyG? You run a 95% chance of ruining this kid's potential career if you roll him out right now. Because we know what we have in Jimmy G and this team is not a playoff team and will lose a lot of games with him this year. Why not roll with a rookie and see what he has. Maybe he sucks maybe he doesn’t, maybe he shows potential. Either way we will probably draft high so why not see if we need to draft a QB with a deep class next year or not. At this point the kid won’t have a career at all if he doesn’t play. Because we are in position to draft a QB next year, then of course he won’t get a chance then. Now is the time

You guys really think AOC is better than JimmyG? You run a 95% chance of ruining this kid's potential career if you roll him out right now. Here's the thing, the old school "sit the QB and have him learn from the bench" has been largely proven to be bullshit over time.

In addition to that, we're not doing shit this year so I think it makes more sense to ride it out with AOC to find out if he has any real potential or not. If we lose a shitload of games with him, then we get a blue chip QB in the draft, if we win a decent amount and he looks like a winner then we can build around him.

Playing Jimmy all year only keeps us in the Carr territory of "too good to get a top QB in the draft and too bad to actually make a real playoff push". I don't know about you but I'm so fucking tired of being in football limbo. McD was supposed to fix all that with his hand picked QB who "just wins games" except he really doesn't.

You guys really think AOC is better than JimmyG? You run a 95% chance of ruining this kid's potential career if you roll him out right now. The "kid" is 25 years old, and a 4th round draft pick. We're about to select in the top 10 again this year, if O'Connell isn't ready now he never will be, and we can't really afford to wait for a 25 yr old to develop. What will it take? Two years? So he'll "arrive" at the tender age of 27?

This season is lost, McDaniels should be shown the door, but that is irrelevant since we don't have control over that. The best shot we have regardless of McDaniels's future is playing O'Connell and him succeeding immediately, or playing O'Connell and him failing so miserably that we have a high enough selection to pick a true franchise Quarterback. That's the logic. You might not agree with it, but it's not lacking in common sense at all.

Re: Well that sucked, Raider Steelers post game thread

We have got to have one of the most boring, unimaginative offenses in the league. Seems like every single year, we do no presnap motion, no eye candy, no screens, etc.. to get the ball to players in space. Just line up like the same old dumb Raiders and get smashed.

Miami just throttled the team we only put up 17 against. The Niners stomped the Steelers in the first week. Kansas City puts up ridiculous numbers ever week. Look at the style of offense they all run. They do everything in their power to utilize their players in space.

Steeler fans want to fire Matt Canada and even he looks like he runs a more competent offense than McDaniels. We are run by a pack of fools!

McDaniels is a dumb cunt. What kind of fucking idiot kicks a Fg on 4th and 4.
Minutes before that you kicked a FG then accepted the Pittsburg penalty. By accepting the penalty you become fully committed to getting 8 points you dumb fuck……but nope……he drains 2 minutes of clock….pusses out and kicks FUCKING FG??????

Re: On to the Steelers

Meh. At least Carr gave the haters someone to root against on game day. Now there’s no more scapegoats or distractions and we are all faced with the realization that the team’s issues are rooted far deeper than the QB as they always have been. The team is rotten from the owner down. QB was one of this teams issues, and was discussed heavily as the single largest factor in any team's success.

Do you see people not talking about Jimmy G, maybe you somehow have seen a chorus of Kumbayas all cheering our great fortune?

Maybe you should not put players on a great pedestal and realize your teen idol, was just another bad QB in a string of bad QBs.

On to the next, the last one quit on his football team like a bitch. "I didn't give them my best, but I sure enjoyed the 25 million." - Derek.

No one ever stated the only problem with the Raiders was the QB. Give your head a shake.

What tape do you have playing in your head? It's like they live in an alternate universe. Not one person rooted against our team or thought he was the only problem. Only the blind thought Carr didn't need to go. I really think some of them hope we fail this year to somehow feel vindicated

Re: Las Vegas Raiders 1st drafted QB- Aidan O’Connell

O'Connell may have looked better vs vanilla defenses, but if you watch his college games, and I watched a number of them, he is still in need of development. Hence I wanted him to sit for a while and then drop him in for a game to see how much he has absorbed. But I think most people thought he is best served by sitting and learning. If Jimmy goes down, our tenuous season is over anyways. If O'Connell gets a start and looks bad, back him off and put him on the sidelines and let him learn there.

Again, this depends on factors we could go into all day, various degrees of bad, other factors like the line and running game etc. There is no right answer right now. With all do respect...that's a load of crap.

You learn by playing.....it's not that hard of a concept to understand.....

Re: Las Vegas Raiders 1st drafted QB- Aidan O’Connell

Not saying we gain with Hoyer, never even mentioned that. But if Aidan is not ready and he goes in, you run the risk of ruining him. Bad QB play is one thing, you expect it from even the top rookie QB's, But Aidan was raw (ish) when we drafted him and you gain very little if he plays bad and you keep him in there. I would say at that point he gains more from watching Hoyer from the sidelines.

If he plays bad. If he struggles but plays decent, sure you keep him in. But, as much as I want O'Connell to be the next thing, and I do, I also want them to get him in there at a pace that risks his development the least. It is why I have advocated around game 6 giving him a shot. But most importantly, give him every opportunity to develop and develop with confidence. Given that one, teams start rookie QBs in this league all the time, two, AO looked better than any other rook this preseason including those that are presently starters, three, this particular team is blessed with above average pass blocking OL and four, AO demonstrated clearly that he is a composed QB in this league...... IF any rook is ready to take the reigns of a NFL organization a VERY good argument could be made that he is that guy.

Sorry but I really do not see any risks other than the normal risks that EVERY player deals with by starting in the NFL. He is not some green house flower that has limited starting time at the position.

He has plenty of experience in college and by all accounts is very smart and fully capable of implementing a game plan. All things being equal, I don't see too many situations where he would be 'ruined.' I do see ample opportunity for development and the organization gaining valuable information about the QB.

ONLY way I see you might want to pull him is if for some reason the OL fell apart and became completely incapable of blocking for their QB. Then yes, maybe Hoyer has a use. :)

Re: Las Vegas Raiders 1st drafted QB- Aidan O’Connell

I think that may be oversimplified. If Jimmy is injured, yes, the back up finishes the game. If he is out for an extended time, Aidan very well might get the next start but if he struggles it could be that Hoyer gets the nod and Aidan is the backup. These things are always dependent on performance. I would argue the opposite. If Jimmy goes down for an extended period of time, no way in hell is Hoyer going to save the season. The season is lost.

That being the case, I think you bring in AO to start and even IF he hits some bumps in the road, so be it...you ride that horse out the rest of the way and let him get as much experience under his belt as possible while the coaching staff gets as much information needed to determine where to go with the position moving forward.

Nothing is gained by brining in Hoyer. Nothing.

At least AO will bring some excitement simply because no one knows what he will do. And any good that he does do will only at least create some hope for the franchise moving forward. And even if he struggles mightily, it will be a good experience for the young man and will help in his development ....even if we find out his ceiling is just a backup in this league. Well, at least we will find that out.

Again, nothing, nothing at all is gained by starting Hoyer. Nothing.

Re: Las Vegas Raiders 1st drafted QB- Aidan O’Connell

If AO never sees the field this season, the organization is making a huge mistake.

I really don't get why he is presently being protected and inactive during games.

No other rookie QB looked more composed, more ready to start in the preseason than AO. He does not need to be protected. He needs to be in the situation where his learning curve is steep.

And why Jimmy G's contract was played with so that it will be more difficult to part ways with him over the next two years is beyond me. If someone can make sense of it, please explain it to me.

Re: Tyree Wilson

The other team knows Wilson sucks so they are throwing everything but the kitchen sink at Crosby. Crosby this season is getting on my nerves though with all of his leadership persona. Great players with real talent dont usually act like cheerleaders, thats when you know there is a problem with this team as a whole. I think that happens to any supposed top tier DE. He isn't being neutralized because he is getting double all that time, because he isn't. He just playing stupidly with not power. He is running inside and QBs are making him look like a complete fool by waiting for him to do so and rolling outside.

Re: Ziegler

I'm just tired of a coaching staff that doesn't adapt and refuses to play players to their strengths. Gruden was the king of this and it seems that McDaniels is going the same route. I hate the idea of switching to yet another coaching staff but the idea of a young innovative mind with the QBs coming out next year is damn enticing.

Re: On to the Steelers

AOC has been inactive every game so far. If Jimmy G goes down they’re rolling with Hoyer which tells me they’re not serious about winning and perhaps don’t really view AOC as next up. They might be angling for one of the top QBs next draft. O'Connell was the best looking rookie qb I saw in the preseason around the NFL. So it would be just like the Raiders to pass him over for some other jackass.
For now I am going say they are "protecting" him. Hoyer is an automatic loss, he stinks.
The staff saw the same thing we saw from O'Connell. He looks ready. He looks more than ready. The coaching nstaff have hoyer as 2nd string is the same jackassery we always see with this team.
I think they know If Jimmy went down, and O'Connell came in, we would never see Jimmy again. But if hoyer goes out and stinks it up we will be clamoring for Jimmy to come back.
I have no faith in any decision this team makes. Seems like every choice makes us that much worse.
