Come on Colts! Give the Raiders two 1st, a 2nd and a 3rd. All you need is a vet QB that can step in and take you to the distance!

Latavius Murray was great?

Wait! When did this happen?!

He's had all of 1 season out of 9 where he rushed for over a 1,000 yards and that was barely over it.

Re: Championship round thread

originally it was Chiefs -1.5 but now it has moved to Chiefs +1. The prevailing notion is that is due to Mahomes injury. As we find out more about that injury, I expect the line to pivot one way or the other so that it settles around 2.5 as the split.

If Mahomes shows mobility they will be favored, if he is in a boot, Begals get the nod. It's why gambling is a suckers game.

Re: Rookie QB prospects: Who is ready to play?

Anyone interested in Jordan Love should be consulting with coaches he worked with - Hackett for example. This is the last year of his rookie deal and you have to commit to the $20 million 5th year option by May. The limited time before he would need to be paid will reduce his trade value for sure. Thank for the information chucker

Re: Derek Carr - Official Merger Thread

Thanks.I knew it was a mess.Payton is a solid coach, but I hope if he goes to Denver he gets complete control.

I’ve went through the scenarios a hundred times and I think they are the most likely fit. It's a mess because of Payton.

To add to this he bailed on them the year after he lost Brees because he saw what was on the horizon. Nothing like causing the mess and then jumping ship wiping your hands clean and having the audacity of telling everyone and their mother some teams you go to for your career to die. Would that be the next guy that had to clean up your mess Sean? Thank you sir may I have another!

Re: Divisional Round game thread.

The Eagles and Niners have elite rosters top to bottom.

Bills and Bengals are solid and led by superstar QBs.

Not being a homer, but I really feel someone will knock off KC. The 49ers are swallowing their Adams apples right about now. Even if they get past the Cowboys and there defense which they will have a leg up on because of the short week the cowboys will be on, they now they will head to freezing cold Philadelphia and Mr. Irrelevant with have his massive test against the #2 defense in all of football.

Don't see him getting a "passing" grade on that one.

Re: Who would you pick at 7? (Includes picks by Mock Drafts)

I think we might pick him or that LB out of Washington State in the 3rd, we need to draft at minimum 2 LBs this year. Well there is the possibility we will have many as 11 picks this year, UDFA, FA and then there is the compensation for Carr. You would certainly think we will end up with more then 2 with all of that...

Re: Rookie QB prospects: Who is ready to play?

The way I see it I would rather not play with a rookie under center straight away.

For sure there is no one way to do things but I would be more inclined to give the guy more time to prepare and be fully submerged into the playbook and working with the second team. Coming out of college guys are preparing for the draft and with the way the players union has limited the amount of OTA's/mini's/TC it makes it even more difficult on these guys.

Re: Who would you pick at 7?

#7 Stroud, #9 Richardson. And the thought of the Chargers getting Zay Flowers is terrifying.

https://youtu.be/6ML2NtNZ1yI Thanks for this video. Regarding us... " Or if they are getting a one year rental in Tom Brady this could still make sense". Where have I heard that before?

He doesn't have the Sleazehawks taking a QB with either pick so they are going to roll with Geno Smith and not have anybody develop behind him?

Wilson at 8
Richardson at 9
Branch at 10
Johnston at 12
Gonzalez at 13
Torrance at 21
Washington at 24
Flowers at 25
Sander at 26
Harrison at 27
McKee at 28
Musgrave at 31

All seem way to early from the prospect talent boards I have seen. It's going to be interesting to see how all this pans out...

Re: Who do you want as starting QB in ‘23. Poll included.

Yeah I think Brady is plan A.Just the way everything is being reported and with the obvious McD/Z connection and the love from Davis.

I wonder what we have in Garbers? Who the hell knows. They obviously know Stiddy well so I’m fine with their decision on him one way or the other. The only thing I know about Garbers is, is that he himself sat for an entire year and will have the entire offseason to understand the offense as well. So that would now make 2 quarterbacks on the roster with a firm grasp of the offense.

I get everybody's apprehension when it comes to signing a 46 year old quarterback and I have reservations as well. When I look at the 46 year old quarterback that we are talking about however and the year he had it's MiNdBoGgLiNg! Everybody's pointing fingers at his last game but his body of work in 2022?

733 attempts, 490 completions, 66.8 completion percentage 4,694 yards 25 TD's 9 INT's

He would be coming to a team with a running game (important) that he was completely lacking in Tampa, one of the best wide receivers in all of football, a very good pass catching TE and a slot receiver in the Welker/Edleman mold. And let's not forget Hollins who is a huge target at 6'4" 225 pounds and had 690(!) yards on 57 receptions with Carr throwing to him.

And here is something I have pointed out throughout my entire time of watching football. Does anybody seriously believe Carr had the backing of the locker room? No way no how did he have it. Jacobs lamented how he was busting his ass and the results weren't there. He's talking about Carr. Now, Have Tom Brady walk through those locker room doors day in and day out. Can you imagine how pumped the team will be!? Having Brady over Carr would raise the morale in the locker room 100 fold.

Some guys you will run through walls for, others... not so much. This is the ol' Plunkett v. Pastorini I watch unfold back in the day. The charge the defense would get emotionally would incredible. It's possible for the first time since we moved to Las Vegas that every game would be a home field advantage game.

It's as if McDaniels took this job knowing he was going to give Carr the heave ho and that Brady was going to be available this year and that he could slide right into his old offense with much better skill positions in place than the team he came from. Has he ever had a Davante Adams type of receiver to throw to in his entire career?

And, have we ever had a quarterback like Tom Brady under center?! You could also look at it like when was the last time we had a legitimate quarterback like Tom Brady under center?! Rich Gannon? Over 20 years ago!

He could step right into his old offense with his old OC and hit the ground running for this team. Is there anybody in the league that can do that?! Seems to me he would be a MAJOR upgrade over Carr?

He would PACK allegiant stadium. 10 of his 17 games would come in a controlled climate stadium instead of sweltering Tampa Bay, 9 in Las Vegas and two more on the road. Throw in a couple/few away games in good weather on the road. Yes things change but our schedule for next year might be daunting not just in our division but outside.

Home
-Steelers
-Packers
-Giants
-Vikings
-Patriots
-Jets

Away
-Bills
-Dolphins
-Lions

Green Bay, Pittsburgh and Kansas City he faced this year so he would go into this year with familiarity with their defense. He played his old division last year and he's been in the league so long now is there a quarterback in the league that has seen pretty much every player on defense?

My last question would be this. Name a quarterback in the league that is readily available that we would have to give up nothing for that could slide right into our offense know it like the back of his hand and has been a proven perennial all pro.

Re: The officially official Jarrett Stidham thread (merged).

Check out what Zig had to say about Stiddy (13:43)

https://youtu.be/yosBhfe41Jw Wow, great video thanks for that.

Football intelligence came up time and again in that interview. One of Bill Walsh's traits for a quarterback was if he could keep his head in the moment. When a play broke down and the receivers were going one way and the offensive line the other could the quarterback keep his head. Ziegler echoed this sentiments exactly and he used them for each position group.

The height weight speed guys are good and taken into consideration but if you have, say, a linebacker as an example, if he's got all those attributes but lacks the football intelligence he winds up out of place or taking a false step or two and now he's got to recover when a guy that understands the position and what's going on will be in the right place at the right time.

As Marcus Allen stated years ago, either you know or you don't.

Other stuff including the scouting in college and getting a gauge on a guys personality thougout college I have heard for over 40 years now. Lot of money and time goes into that. Zero reservations if they had been scouting thou who shall go unnamed in the thread they wouldn't have touched him. Would have been labeled as a head case.

I heard positive things regarding Stidham but to small a sample size and not a large body of work to go by. This would indicate to me that with Stidham and Garbers being the only two QB's on the roster and perhaps a rookie it make it all the more imperative in their minds to get a veteran QB this year under center.

He also stated, again(!), football intelligence when it comes to quarterbacking and being able to recognize coverages and put the team in the right position to make plays. Can you say Tom Brady and Josh McDaniels together again?

Re: The NFL Coaching/GM Carousel

https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/1613270816241876992?s=20 I wouldn't think he would want anything to do with the NFC west and the coaches in that division same goes for the AFC west and the quarterbacks in our division. The Broncos are a mess with the Wilson deal and lack of high end draft capital.

He bailed one year after losing Brees so that tells you a lot about who he is. He didn't have the QB and knew the ship was sinking so he bailed...

Re: Derek Carr - Official Merger Thread

I'll never forget the Campbell throwaway through the EZ, that he didn't throw high enough and it got picked. There was this play that was either an incompletion or an interception and I remember Hue on the sideline telling Jason... No Jason, that was cover 2.

In other words, he was completely oblivious of the type of cover the defense was running. :grimmace:

Re: Who do you want as starting QB in ‘23. Poll included.

I still want to draft a QB. We keep picking one, one of them has to hit. Even if we were to sign Brady I would think for sure the plan would be to get a QB from somewhere in the draft and have him sit for the year behind Brady and Stidham. When 2024 rolls around or maybe even 2025 he should be more than ready.

Now if Brady was turning 35 or so that's a horse of a different feather...
