Re: Tyree Wilson

Curious, were there any plays ran at him or to his side that Wilson missed on? I do not think so. It seemed that Wilson was focusing more on the run than the pass rush. The kid was very hesitant almost like he wanted to make sure they were not running on his side. He will need some time, get in football shape, learn that he can trust his foot (anyone who has had a significant injury knows what I am talking about), and learn the nuances of the game. He will be fine. This is a tough crowd. When Wilson and Mayer have good games next week, we will here the other spectrum of over reaction.

Re: Tyree Wilson

Why would he get "overwhelmed?" He is 6'6" 275, with great power.
There is no way on earth he gets overwhelmed. He definitely will not get overwhelmed physically. No chance of that.

On the other hand, he may still lack the polished technique that let's say Crosby has in order to finish his QB pressures. Also, he is young and may get fooled by misdirection in the run game.

But yes, the young man is a powerful dude and he will not get physically manhandled or overwhelmed in that way. He may find that he has to learn quite a bit when it comes with dealing with misdirection and getting caught with over pursuit or not holding the edge. In short, opposing teams may take advantage of his enthusiasm and inexperience.

P.S. Every rook has a learning curve when entering the NFL and well, the best way to make that curve a tad steeper is to play him.

Re: Tyree Wilson

Nobody's mentioning the name of the o-lineman whom Wilson bull-rushed.

That speaks volumes for the merit of the play.

Did he have a name??? Wilson will be doing this vs starters....

(edit) Damn if Wilson & Mayer don't do well, I'm gonna hear about it....

Re: Bears trade the first overall pick in the draft to Carolina

Maybe the bears should have kept the first pick and replaced fields.

25 starts

Jamarcus 7-18

Fields 5-20

Re: Bears trade the first overall pick in the draft to Carolina

You & June510 are completely full of shit!! No, you two were not the only ones who liked Richardson. You act as if Richardson didn’t even exist to everyone on this board & you brought him into our lives.

I liked Richardson before the season started & still do. I just don’t post much. Also, Levis wasn’t a board darling. I was & still am one of the few who liked him. But barley posted about him. I like Young, Levis &, Richardson. & later round QB’s I liked, S.Bennett, J.Heaner &, J.Hall. Disliked Stroud & Hooker.

Most of the board liked Young & Stroud.

These are facts & you two can go f…..I’ll stop there https://y.yarn.co/c3d46b28-4bf1-4245-8c44-56581d73c95b_text.gif

Re: Bears trade the first overall pick in the draft to Carolina

It won't be long before Richardson wishes he wasn't the starter. you never know. I have no idea what he will be at the next level. Nobody does.

That being said, mocking that Levis is the third string without context is pretty funny. Levis was injured for the last two preseason games. Willis did nothing special with his chance, he was just healthy. But to assume Richardson will wish he was not the starter may or may not be true. You never can know the future.

Re: Josh Jacobs

Thanks, good read.

He's echoing what I have been saying all along in this thread...
McCaffrey and Kamara are complete backs.

As much as I like JJ he doesn't compare two these to running backs. His comparison lies with a guy like Barkley. Were he got this notion he is worth as much as those guys is pie in the sky. I disagree, McCaffrey is not a complete back, he does not know how to block at all. He is more of a wide receiver who can also run the ball.

And Jacobs is a complete back. He can run off tackle, between the tackles, he can catch the ball and in space he is dangerous. And he can and does block fairly well.

Re: Tyree Wilson

everyone has to get in shape for the regular season. However, in the last 3 years, the Cards have been the most penalized team in the league and it is not really even close . Really?

So, I just ran the numbers myself. In the last 3 years the Cardinals have been penalized 345 times. The Raiders? 335.

They have been penalized 10 whole more times in 3 years. Which, if you are doing the math, that equates to... 3.3 more penalties a year. Yeah, not even close. Next thing you know you will be telling us that Al Davis, Gruden part II and Josh McDaniels don't get into it with the officials. Oh, wait.

I like how you attempted to paint a picture that really never was. And I find it, um, interesting (disingenuous?), how you cherry picked just the last 3 years. You wan't some history? Here is a lesson that perhaps you have already have forgotten...

We have been either the #1 or #2 most penalized team in the league a combined 23 times. Or, 37% of the time. If you come in 2nd or 3rd or what have you by a handful of penalties, the damage is already done.

We have been in the top 3 in penalties a combined 29 times or 46% of the time. Which in turn means we have spent almost half of our time being in the top 3 in penalties in all of football.

We have been in the top 5 in penalties a whopping 41 times out of 63 seasons. Which in turn means, we have spent 65% of the time in the top 5 in penalties. How do you win fucking football games like this?

Top 10? 53 times in 63 seasons. 84% of the time we have been in the top 10 in all of football. Or to reverse engineer, only 10 measly seasons in 63 have we played where we were not in the top 10. 15% of the time, that’s it. So this begs the question, how much of a disparity between us and the very next team? I’m glad you asked that question.

First in the league in penalties…

Raiders 16 (25%)
Cowboys 7 (11%)
Bills 5 (7%)

Finished #1 or #2 combined
Raiders 23 (37%)
Bears 9 (14%)
Titans and Cowboys 8 (12%)

Top 3
Raiders 29 (46%)
Bears 12 (19%)
Chargers, Rams, Titans 11 (17%)

Top 5
Raiders 41 (65%)
Bears 17 (26%)
Chargers, Titans 16 (25%)

Top 10
Raiders 53 (84%)
Rams 34 (53%)
49ers 30 (47%)

That's funny, I don't see the Cardinals on any of those lists! But you might recognize that there is one team at the very top of each list in each category, AND, there is not one team in the entire NFL that is in each of those categories. Only the Raiders are the only team to be not just be at the top by a massive margin (not even close) but in each and every category. Here's another one for you and for anybody else who maybe reading this. The Raiders have never been lower than 17th as a team in penalties in our entire history.

The Cardinals? 21, 19, 21, 23, 20, 20, 20, 24, 26, 22, 25, 26, 26, 31, 19, 27, 31, 27, 27, 19, 27, 29, 20, 23.

So instead of cherry picking 3 years of history out of 63, as questionable to do so in the first place as this is, let's go back say, um, just the last 10 years and compare the two teams.

Cardinals, 19, 27, 29, 20, 12, 23, 5, 1, 4, 1,

Raiders, 5, 9, 3, 1, 9, 17, 3, 9, 2, 2.

Oh darn, you are wrong again. Wouldn't you know it.

If you would like I can keep this up for as long as you want to keep this up. I have all the numbers.

Re: Training Camp

Just using his own words. Also a lot of experience playing and watching the game. I’ve been in practices with receivers getting chewed out for taking one too many steps on a route I've never seen a certain number of fans despise a good player so much. People wanted Cle Farrell gone because he was effective in about 2 games per season. People wanted Crayons gone because he was straight up awful at all times.

But Renfrow? Until last year's injury he was a rock on this team. Carr's final shitty pass in a Raider uniform should've been a TD to a wide open Renfrow------or did Renfrow take one extra step to get wide open and that was the problem? Jesus. Oh yeah, let's not have a proven playmaker on the field who can make things happen when the play break down or who can break the ankles of 90% of the DBs he faces.

Fuck that. Give us a guy who won't get open but can run routes exactly the way a head coach wants.

Re: Tyree Wilson

But that becomes the coaches responsibility to work the refs. It's the responsibility of the NFL first and foremost to make amends for 63 years of this garbage. Then it falls on the individual officials in every game to call the game right not just how they feel. Last but not least it falls on the coaches to work the officiating but we already have 63 years worth of games as evidence to see how well that has "worked" out. Nobody has seemed to do it, other teams you see the coaches chewing the ear of a ref. But as far back as Del Rio and further, I rarely see it. Yeahhhhh, no.

I saw McDaniels yelling at them time and again last season and Gruden??? lol Gruden would ream them inside and out and to, you guessed it, no avail. Al Davis sued them over it. Nothing has worked because they don't want to fix it.
And bitching about it to the media usually backfires. That is the problem.

We don't pound the drum if you will about the obvious bias to the media who know what's going on but just chalk it up to it's nothing. Nothing to see here (cash cow?). Even if you took an article like the ethical skeptic and the numbers I posted as damning as they are, I don't believe there is one "journalist" that would have the guts to nail them to the wall with it.
Maxx seems to take the high road so I leave it there, his example will carry a lot of weight And if you ask me I think that is a mistake. Doing nothing yields nothing. And some will take it as a sign of weakness. It doesn't mean he has to yell AT them directly. It could be something as simple and mindful as looking over to the HC, motioning that you are being held and then throw your hands up in the air and shake your head. It's respectful, it's true and it gets the point across. For millions to see I might add.

This doesn't mean you do it every time it happens but when you have a game like the rams game you have earned the right to attempt to correct such an egregious error/bias!

Re: Josh Jacobs

I really like Jacobs and would hate to see him not play for them, but you don’t overpay RB’s. There has to be a salary where both sides are okay with. If that can’t be met, then ship him out to the highest bidder.

Re: Raiders sign QB Jimmy Garoppolo (3 years / $67.5M)

I hate to be a Monday morning QB and I am not looking to hijack the Garoppoblow thread (so I apologize in advance). TBH, I think the Raiders would be in a MUCH better position right now if we had the 2 picks back as well as the cap space. I will not even get into the number of games Adams won for us (EASILY 2 plus games) which pushed us out of the running of finally getting our franchise QB. Adams delivered (which is what everyone expected especially given what we gave up for him). I would probably taper down on the good minds aspect because Adams engineered his way to the Raiders and our braintrust just caught the ground ball.

That's the spirit. Let's dismiss every rookie before they play a down in the NFL.

Goodness knows, the offseason is not the time for hope, no, it is the time to bemoan any and every move made by your favorite team and definitely the time to dismiss any rooks before they get a chance to play a down in the sliver and black. Who is dismissing him. Jw was a damn good player.

Re: Post Draft Raider Outlook For 2023

Not looking good IMO. I have a feeling Jimmy G will get exposed for what he really is. He doesn't have the defense that he had in SF and does not have the ability to play catch up. He's just not that kind of QB. I'm OK with whatever happens bc I want to draft our franchise QB next year regardless, whatever it takes.

Re: Our first round pick - #7- Time to predict Thursday. (renamed thread but the same)

I'll never be surprised by anything..... but I'll be disappointed in any olineman at 7. I really want the next QB on the roster, but I really want defense too. We can get a guard later and I'm happy with where we're sitting at tackle. I also don't think any olineman is among the best 7 players in this draft.
