Re: Derek Carr - Official Merger Thread

Basically when the nut hugging turd supporters go away and when Carr and his brothers stop posting their passive aggressive bull shit, then many here will move on

Re: The officially official Jarrett Stidham thread (merged).

I'm convinced from reading many of the posts in this thread that a vocal minority of posters WANT Stidham because they are convinced that he is significantly WORSE than Carr and will likely lose 10 or more games as the starter -- giving these fan hope that the Raiders will draft a QB in the 1st round of the 2024 draft.

It's "Tank With Stidham in 2023." :skull: :seenoevil: :hearnoevil: :speaknoevil:

Re: Derek Carr - Official Merger Thread

It’s almost sad. The Carr family as a whole could have held their heads high and taken the high road with dignity but they have irreversibly exposed themselves as entitled whiny petulant little bitches. If Derek wanted a following for his calling post football, he’s destroying any character credibility now.

Re: Derek Carr - Official Merger Thread

I doubt that....he just wasnt up to the task. There are what....5 people on earth that play the position that could overcome the worst defense in the league over the past 10 years? But sure.....he is accountable for arguably the worst drafting over the last decade.

Carry on boys...lol. Nobody denies what the defense is but if you watched the games this year there were several games the defense did enough and Carr just couldn’t move the offense. Carrs inefficiencies aren’t related to how poor the defense is. If you want to understand the anti Carr sentiment it is likely not helped when posters and his family members never acknowledge his mediocrity and weaknesses but divert to excuses blaming coaching and the defense.

Defense blows balls as did Derek much of last year. Both can be true. Derek is not a good QB. Maybe he can reinvent himself with a change of scenery.

And who said Derek is accountable for the worst drafting over the last decade? I’d like to mock them

I don't think Ziegler or McDaniels have enough time to develop Richardson. They need to win now with this roster, or else Mark might pull the plug. I could maybe see it if Brady comes. But then you're basically benching a top 10 pick for a year or two hoping it turns into something. Mahomes was picked at 10 and sat a year didnt he?

Re: Who do you want as starting QB in ‘23. Poll included.

100%. We bitched for years about Carr not being able to extend plays and/or extend drives, etc., with his feet and now many of us want to turn to the least mobile QB in the league. Likely because historically Brady needed to only make slight shifts in the pocket to buy the extra second to throw vs taking off and running. He makes up his lack of running with being better than average with a pocket presence/awareness.

However he is 46 and wont get faster or quicker so I am fine no matter where he ends up. If he comes here for cheap, I wont blow a gasket. If we go another direction, I wont blow a gasket. If we keep Carr, I'll start cutting myself.

Re: Retiring Raiders' Numbers?

I'm with GoodTimeCharlie on this one:

"I have always been a fan of the Raiders not retiring numbers, but if they need to lock the #4 into a vault and throw that thing into the Mariana Trench to keep its special brand of festering fecal taint from ever casting a sickly simp pall over the team again, I’ll understand. Re: The officially official Jarrett Stidham thread (merged).

He has been in the league for four years. During the last three years NE’s QB situation was anything but “good” and they let him go for essentially nothing. Fair enough but he has never started an NFL regular season game and as coach and Z said, "You can watch how folks do in practice but you never know how some respond when its for real and the lights are on". Hes had 2 games. He moved the ball very well against the #1 defense in football. Next week was rougher but I see potential.

On another note, there are QBs who are likely flawless in practice when wearing the RED jersey but when it gets real, they fold like a lawn chair.

Someone had to say it.

He made a ton of mental errors against the chiefs. He’s a backup for a reason. Not saying you are wrong but I find it again very amusing that the book is closed on one guy after 2 games while the same folks closing said book were still arguing for the other chump after 9 years.

Cant make this shit up lol.

Re: Who do you want as starting QB in ‘23. Poll included.

It will be interesting to see what $ Tom wants and if he would take a friendly deal like in the past to win one more.Who knows?

As far as building the team for him…whoever the QB is next year(Rook or the :goat: ) we have holes that need fixed and I don’t think it matters who the QB is.Two guards and defense everywhere. I wouldn't mind Brady here at all as long as we are still grooming the future QB whether it be Stid or a rookie. It all comes down to price though. No picks, dont pay a kings ransom....and I'm perfectly fine with him here. If not, whatever.....I`ll trust Z`s plan......until I dont

Re: Derek Carr - Official Merger Thread

I have read the book. It is all about accountability, being a professional, looking at things from different angles. Not one word in it about coddling man babies.
I was never in the SEALs but I did go to sniper school, rangers school , air assault school, airborne school, and e&e training, plus earned my expert infantry badge and combat infantry badge. There was no coddling, no pats on the back for doing your job. Its what was expected as a base line. If you couldn't do it, we sent your ass to HQ to do paper work.
One thing to understand SEALs, Ranger battalion, Army special forces are all called SOF. Special operations force. You dont just go. You are vetted by your unit then a pre-course, then you go to the course. There isnt a lot of yelling and screaming from instructors in these courses (compared to basic amd AIT). You are simply a go or a no-go. If you cant do the job you are being asked to do, you are gone, period. No handshake, no "you'll do better next time". So by the time you get to the course , you already have that mentality.
The nfl has turned in to a kindergarten for man babies. Not all, but many players think the coach is supposed to be like their daddy, or fun uncle. The game and work environment is supppsed to be fun. Its a professional business. Not a daycare for wayward boys. The fun comes when you win. Until you are doing that consistently, it should be nose to the grind stone.
Now of course, you shouldn't run every business this way, but this is a mans game for men. It takes violence of action, dedication, hard work, and desire to be great.
When I am leading Susie from accounting I am a much different leader than I am leading a team of men to do violent things. Dang dude, I just read this and ran through my front door without opening it yelling "Come and get it mother fuckers!!!!"

Re: Wild Card week games

Any scenario with Brady in it seems like wasting time to me. I see more benefit of having Brady around in what he does not in game time but everything else. I’d want my young future QB to absorb what he does in practice, his workouts in season and off season. What he demands in those around him. How he treats his body via workouts and nutrition etc. How he game preps, etc…….. From what I have read or heard here and there, how Tom Brady approaches the game of football is second to none. That’s why I bring him in especially if we have a young qb in the wings.

Re: Wild Card week games

True, but why sign a guy to start when you 100% know that you'll need another new starter in a year or two? I just don't see us being an average QB away from title contention. Why can’t it be both? Why can’t Brady come and we draft someone to learn under him and/or keep Stidham? I do t think it’s all or nothing for Brady. I have to trust big Z on this.

Re: Derek Carr - Official Merger Thread

The church has its own YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram account where they post clips of their services. It’s not some Carr “hater” sneaking in to a church service to record a guerrila style video of St. Carr exposing his ego and proclaimed self-righteousness.

You are grasping at straws at this point. I just googled the "church" and when I clicked on the website the first thing I saw was Dereks full page photo and under the photo were two links:

"New Here?" "Give Now"

Re: Derek Carr - Official Merger Thread

Hondo has been spot on with a lot of his reporting, and really lines up with much of what we've seen. Some of the stuff in that article is amazing to me. This stood out:

The team employee said, "I remember one of Carr's friends saying that Derek was hurting. While he felt the team should've won in KC, he thought Mcdaniels' relentless and consistent push was not what the team needed."

One player summed it up best to me, "Josh sees a standard, and you have to meet that standard every second to win the trophy. I believe Derek saw it as constant negativity." Followed by this....which is also telling...

"They added, "Derek was all in but I think he felt like the fun was being sucked out of the team. No one outworked Derek, but McDaniels was relentless. McDaniels has a Super Bowl or bust mentality, and Derek had nine years of this."

To me that says Dereks first priority is to have fun and be comfortable with mediocrity rather than be intense in your search for a trophy

Re: Who would you pick at 7?

Admittedly Im drinking a fresh batch of koolaid but I have full trust of Mr Z and Co. The recent articles and interviews the last couple of days I am seeing genuine accountability for everything. Commitment to Excellence is coming back. I think our scouts are looking at prospects and not only evaluating their skillsets but also their character and mindsets to see if they are mentally tough and will fit in only striving for exceptionalism. I'm feeling it.....

Maybe I am 100% on Planet Homerdom but I'm effing jazzed for the offseason and next year.
