Re: Maurice Hurst and Arden Key Cut

I’m not going weird here but I don’t read Keys words as bashing the Raiders at all. I take it to mean something along the lines of maybe being cut is what will make him reinvent his attitude and be the wake up call he needs to excel his game. I don’t think it will work for his football skills but I still don’t read it as “bashing” the Raiders. Maybe it’s because when I was in my early 20’s I found myself in jail one night and it allowed me to reassess my life for a few hours. Without going into details, looking back, going to jail that night may have been the best thing that happened to me as it forced me to make a decision to go left or right at the fork in the road I was traveling. Too sappy? Not at all bra. Spent my 18th birthday in court......18 months later...... never went back.

At any rate....far too many players leaving the Raiders with similar comments over the years.

Too sappy? Appreciate your take and shared experience. But it seems like with Key it's a different matter.

It's like these athletes don't try to help their team don't like the football and don't want to fight. All they do is repeat mantra about community improvement and financial self-education like those things are supposed to fight the mysterous intergalactic conspiracy only Key-like know about.

That's ridiculous. Everyday a lot of players prove that passionate sincere self-dedication is valued, encouraged and well-paid. But lazy losers like Key continue to whine and lie. He got his ticket to NFL and he flushed it down the tube. If he couldn't do any pass-rush in this Raiders D-line, where can he be useful? He is the worst of the worst, no financial self-education will cure that.

Re: Raiders vote to skip OTA's citing "COVID concerns"

It didn't hit me at first, but this is also a lost opportunity for the NFL to set a good example. Prior to the vaccines, it was important to take precautions, make sacrifices, and keep everyone safe. But, it's now time to get everyone vaccinated and get back to normal. Many people's lives, livelihood, and quality of life depends on this. The players could have set an example, but they didn't.

Re: Raiders vote to skip OTA's citing "COVID concerns"

What's interesting is that the players have said that they didn't like that the OTA's didn't feel "voluntary". So now some players are pressuring others to not attend, in essence making it so skipping them isn't voluntary. Oh for fucks sake!

This is the first I've heard of this.

So now they need to "feel" like they can do whatever they want and don't pressure me?! Ahhhh. Here's a ice cream little boy, sorry about that!

smh.

Can't even be bothered with 10 lousy separate days of OTA's where there is no contact and nothing but 7 on 7's and 11 on 11's.

I wish I had a union like this.
No reason for people not to give themselves rights.
It's just there is a vaccine now, man up and get back to what you do like the rest of us. I wish I did too!!!

My union sucks.

Since they took over our place of business back in 06 I have not seen one single solitary big time union rep show up. They appointed a bunch of over worked employees from our company as volunteer shop stewards who neither have the energy of knowledge to properly support us.

Not one has shown up now in 15 years and they make a TON of money off of us.

Re: Raiders vote to skip OTA's citing "COVID concerns"

Yeah it's not about covid. As far as the legend Upshaw goes, the NFL players were left way behind the other major pro sports during his tenure. Bryant Gumbel's famous quote was that all Rozelle had to tell Tagliabue was where Gene Upshaw's leash was. I'm not allowed to discuss why...

coronavirus is a political issue in America at every level, not a health issue. The players are stuck playing coronavirus politics too, not their fault. Some CDC mouthpiece keeps getting quoted and is making political decisions for all of us.

Players are Americans and thusly are subject to the rules made by the federal and state governments.

The players, in 2021, as a group have nothing to fear from coronavirus.

So... to sum it up:
I, and most NFL fans, are sick of the NFL being used by the owners as a political platform.

I blame the owners 100% for this situation.

Re: Raiders vote to skip OTA's citing "COVID concerns"

Raider players will always vote for getting out of working.

As said, millionaires can get a vaccine, go get it and if you are one that doesn't want to, then you are on your own at that point, if you don't come that would be means of termination.

Let's not make this too hard. This.

Nothing but a bunch of lazy fucking lazy fucks.

Your excuses are your own. Pretty safe to say that while not all the players on the team are on board with this decision overall it's a really bad look. These guys need ALL the OTA's, mini's, TC so on and so forth they can muster. This is straight up garbage and I am so incredibly sick of the massively overpaid/overhyped my shit don't stink social justice warriors who now can't be even so much as bothered to show up for work.

Fuck you and your high horse you rode in on.

Re: The Derek Carr Discussion Thread

If the Raiders had put together a Defense over the past 7 years Carrs "record" would've been alot better and this thread wouldn't exist.

True or False If the Raiders put together a defense it would have likely come at the expense of talent and $$$ spent on the offense........Especially the $$$ spent on trying to create a moat around our skittish QB.Carr has never performed well under less than ideal circumstances so less talent he may have gotten even worse under duress......Too many variables but I'm not sold on the teams win total being much better.

The offense under Downing was a shitshow all season (Carr was excited about the change).......Had we gotten any HC/GM other than Gruden Carr would likely not even be a Raider at this point.

Can't wait until both Gruden and Carr are gone...We ain't winning shit with either one let alone both. :paperbag:

Re: Raiders off Season workouts thread

I like seeing the boys out there tossing the ball around on their own time. It’s one of the few times in the calendar year where it’s more about camaraderie than business. A fan can always hope that this year’s team will be different as there’s always room for a little positivity here at least until the draft as I’m sure many of us will be pretty disappointed then.

Re: Raiders select at #17 in 2021 Draft

I'd like that start to the draft. Hope Parson's makes it to 17. So do I. I really doubt Parsons will fall to 17. Watch it happen though and we pass on him and reach for a player. I would melt down. I already have been telling myself if something like that happens don't post for 12-24 hours. And have the blood pressure meds already out to be taken....

Re: The Derek Carr Discussion Thread

The rest of the story you left out:
GM McKenzie decapitalized the roster in 2014, making it a rebuilding season where the Raiders had no realistic chance at a playoff spot.
That's on McKenzie, not Carr. Why should Carr value winning more than the GM who was in charge of the roster???

Then, in 2015, GM McKenzie decapitalized the roster again. 2015 roster was worse than 2014 roster.
That's on McKenzie, not Carr. Why should Carr value winning more than the GM who was in charge of the roster???

So, 2014 and 2015 don't matter. They keep the stats and played the games, but as far as Raiders players were concerned... the season was lost before week 1.

Before I go any further, when was the last time a GM drafted a starting QB in ROUND 2 and MADE HIM play on a rigged roster that prevented him from winning enough games to go to the playoffs?

Go ahead, name 1.

What GM McKenzie did was to crap on Carr the person, not once, but twice. Carr took it a lot better than I would have. I'd have demanded a trade to a team that was TRYING to go to the playoffs.

Then, Mark Davis hires Gruden. Instead of riding with Del Rio and maybe going to the playoffs again, he okayed it for Gruden to decapitalize the roster. Mack... gone for no help that season, and then, boom!, Cooper gone, again, for no help that season.

GM McKenzie crapped on Carr for a 3rd time in 2018. Me the starting QB... I'm pouting on the sidelines, throwing Gatorade cups and flipping off Gruden. Carr, he takes it and keeps going, I would never let the same GM crap on me 3 times.

So... instead of micro-analyzing Carr's performance in non-playoff throwaway seasons, I'd stick to Carr's performances in the other seasons where theoretically the GM, HC and owner are all trying to win enough games to make the playoffs.

Carr gets way too much crap from fans. Put yourself in his shoes as I have... I'm sure that YOU would have sacrificed your body voluntarily in 2014, 2015 and 2018 to try and win a meaningless football game in a meaningless football season... just because they keep records and don't assign blame for ineffective QB play to the GM, HC and owner.

Carry on! :seenoevil: :hearnoevil: :speaknoevil: :flex: Poor Carr. If only he was drafted by a Super Bowl ready team he would’ve been Grrrrrrreat

There seems to be a specific person pruning the posts and that person certainly seems to have a "slant" on the posts they delete.

With that said Carr dropped that ball like I drop my 7 iron after I hit off the toe of the club. It has a certain "fuck this game" feel to it.

Re: The Derek Carr Discussion Thread

i was told there was no comparison between Lock and Carr, so I took Lock's first 18 games and matched it up with Carr's first 18 games, straight up.

the numbers do not lie, the comparison is there, and they compare very similar to each other.

you can spin it any way you wish, but those numbers are accurate The things that disturb me most about Carr don't show up on stat sheets.

Year 1, 2014, we are getting our ass handed to us by the Rams 52-0. Derek played like utter dogshit that day. 173 total yards, 2 ints (bad ones), QBR a whopping 12, and there's our leader, the "face of our franchise" laughing and joking on the sidelines. This is when I first began to look sideways at Derek Carr. Losing badly, in embarrassing fashion, when he was a BIG part of the reason why, didn't seem to bother him much. I began to pay attention.

Actually, losing never bothers him much. He has made this abundantly clear in his 7 years here as he constantly throws short of the sticks on 3rd down, throws the ball away on 4th, doesn't want to run with wide open field ahead of him, drops the ball and forgets about it when there's contact, and fades into oblivion end of season every year.

He has a give-up, quitter attitude and his play reeks of it. In his press conferences he's a phony. Don't tell me you "left everything out on the field 110%", when that very day you purposely let go of the ball just to break your own fall, and made no attempt whatsoever to recover, giving the Patriots a TD instead of a safety. The only thing he left on the field was the ball.

Winners rise to the occasion. They play better with the season on the line. Carr doesn't.

2020 – 72.325 QBR 1st 8 games. 55.925 QBR 2nd 8 games.
2019 – 61.762 QBR 1st 8 games. 55.762 QBR 2nd 8 games.
2018 – 44.85 QBR 1st 8 games. 46.275 QBR 2nd 8 games. (His choke in game 1 vs Rams (8.4 QBR) ruined his first half, but really played like shit all year.)
2017 – 55.05 QBR 1st 8 games. 45.87 QBR 2nd 8 games. (Sat out Oct. 8 vs Ravens)
2016 – 58.84 QBR 1st 8 games. 54.0 QBR 2nd 7 games.
2015 - 55.08 QBR 1st 8 games. 32.19 QBR 2nd 8 games.
2014 – 48.71 QBR 1st 8 games. 36.55 QBR 2nd 8 games.

I could've done the first 9 or 10 games vs. the last 6 or 7, and his numbers would look even worse. He won't step up when we need him. He fades under the bright lights. He'll never take this team anywhere, I don't care who's around him. He's a loser... and good with it. No stat for that.
