Never understood what is so great about the Bears job. Caleb Williams for all his talents seems to be a malcontent. Of the 5 rookie QBs we seen play this year - Williams was easily the least impressive. Maybe you could make a case he was better than Penix in the couple games we saw from Penix. Could also argue Williams had a substantially better roster than Daniels, nix or Maye.

Is it possible Williams is a reason NOT to go to Chicago? You’ve got a QB that has already been crowned and seems to have fully bought into his own hype in spite of the fact that he didn’t actually play particularly well…. And they’re shocked a coach might be reluctant to handcuff himself to that?

Outside of football Cincy would be a depressing place to live.

Mark nixed that idea some time before the pats appointed him. Wanted to create a Raiders way instead of another Pats west. Hondo gives Mark props for doing this.
- Hondo doesn't think we will appoint a HC until the Lions are out of the playoffs. He gave a pointed look when he said it. Sounds like he's fairly sure Johnson is going to get it.
- If that happens then keep an eye out on a possible trade for Hooker from the Lions. Already knows Johnsons system and has spent some time learning to be an NFL qb under Goff.
- Many senior NFL executives do not think there is a single qb worthy of a top 15 pick in this year's draft.
- Jerry Jones is giving off late era Al Davis vibes. He's swinging hard to win it again but not in a good or sustainable way.
- Rob Leonard (our Dline coach) should be given the likely open DC position by the incoming HC. He's done great work this season and is highly respected by players and coaching staff alike.

Quite a bit of fluff and meandering points that go nowhere but those are the main highlights.

^^^I really wanted Coen. Unfortunately, he supposedly said he was not ready to make to jump up. That's not really what he said. He said that it doesn't need to happen right now because he's happy doing what he's doing. And he said that when they were still playing. He said something to the tune of "he believes he's ready, but doesn't believe you're ever really ready".

IMO he'd take an interview if the right job were there.

Brady doesn’t get any of that access because of his link to the Raiders. It’s been that way all season. He doesn’t get to go to practices or meetings or anything with the coordinators.

Aaron Glenn is one interview. Glenn's interview was virtual, so doesn't count as a Rooney Rule interview...... we'd have to interview him in person at a later date for him to help fulfill the Rooney Rule.

I was a regular user on Raiderfans.net but it sound like it has died for good; just wish Bob would have given the forum users some notice that he was going to end the forum….look like I will give this forum a try Someone just brought up that it had closed down and I wasn't even aware. I was a member of rf.net from back in 2002, been a long time, things changed a lot as the owner realized the site could be his personal piggy bank. When we started this site up that cocky bastard claimed we'd go under like so many others he'd seen start up and not make it. Looks like he's the one who couldn't make it. The difference between what rf.net became and what this site is: raiderforums is here for the right reasons, we needed a place we could vent, share our suffering, some are optimistic, more are pessimistic, and occasionally we get to celebrate, although it hasn't been very often. The other site was ruined by greed and that will never happen here.

I feel a renewed optimism that Mark Davis is going to get out the way and we're eventually going to be relevant again and it's a damn good feeling and glad we still have a place we can do all the above and hopefully celebrate more often than the former. :beer:

Maxx invited Howie Long on his podcast last offseason and Howie gave him that same advice down to the word. Maxx nodded but not sure he was hearing him. It will take a HC with gravitas to keep Maxx from hurting himself 100% right. It takes a HC willing to put the hammer down for the good of the team and Maxx.

TT made some good early round picks, and he's not the one who hired AP.

Minshew was a bridge, that's it. It was a long term strategy, which this team needs to engage in. Wait for the right QB to come along, and then grab him. Also, Minshew had never played as badly as he did here under Getsy. He certainly sucked at times, but with a system that didn't take advantage of our O-line strengths and no running game, it's hard to see how anyone could've been successful.

Getsy was a last second scrap heap hire because Whatshisface went to Washington at the last second.

I don't like this one bit. Unless we know we're going to land Johnson and a better GM than Telesco, this makes zero f'ing sense. IMO this is not Mark's doing and I don't think he would have fired Telesco. I believe this is a Brady call. I suspect that Jed Hughes and co. came in and a full analysis was done of what the team is looking for on the football side, including HC and GM, and that Telesco was outside of those parameters. If that's the case then the best plan is to start fresh. Most new owners start fresh with a new GM/HC and I think that's what's happening here. Yes the team is still owned by Mark but my impression is that he's looked at his own record as owner as critically as fans have and that's why he sold a chunk to Brady at a big discount.

Letting that process play out instead of continuing our old ways seems like the right move. It is definitely going to be an interesting year - none of us know for sure how it will turn out but I'm open to a wholesale process change.

If Drew Allar comes out he’s gonna make a whole load of money. I think he’s defaco 1st round pick even if he’s a couple years away from starting

I'm with you on Tiers 1 & 2 but I would completely eliminate Tiers 3 & 4. I don't want any of those guys.

I absolutely don't ever want a father-son coach-QB combo. I'm not worried that it will happen though.

So far I'm happy with our candidate list. I'd still expect Ben Johnson to pick a team with a good QB situation, but the fact he's even agreed to an interview is an indication of positive change.

The top two won't get past the Giants at 3. Might not get to 3 if Browns and Titans both go QB, which they probably will. I wouldn't mind that one bit because it prevents us from reaching for the "top" QBs in this draft and allows us to focus on getting BPA outside of the TE position.

I want O-line in the worst way, but BPA at any position except the one mentioned above would be best.

Johnson has been clear he won't interview with every team looking to fill the role, and according to the report, he would be more interested if the Jets' quarterback situation was more solid. He is only accepting interviews for squads he wants to coach, and won't take a meeting just because the opportunity is there. If that's true, then him interviewing with us means we're definitely in the running for his services, even if we aren't his first choice.
