The problem with AP isnt only that our Offense is garbage tier, the problem is our Defense isnt great either and hes supposed to be a Defense minded coach. If our Defense was playing lights out but our Offense sucked, that would be acceptable and something to work on. When both sides of the ball are underperforming then we have a real problem with our coaching staff. I was one of the biggest AP fans also before the season started and now im saying eat the contract and ship him out.

what we deserve vs what we are likely to get are not necessarily exclusive. The top 2 guys are consensus top 15 players, you may disagree but the guys who do it for a living see it that way. Now QBs are an inflated position and for good reason. We struck out last year, we are probably not going to this year. My gut tells me Davis is already on the phone to Deion Sanders talking about what his kid can do for the team after we draft him.

Whether folks like it or not, Sanders is somehow going to be a Raider. I think you are spot on.

There is no amount of cap, picks, players or coaches that will fix this team. That has been proven for 2 decades.
Im glad there are fans that still have hope, after 50 years my tank is empty. Well the problem is that we haven't had a true franchise QB since Gannon. If we hit on one finally, then yes the turnaround can absolutely be quick. Look at Buffalo turning things around once Allen got dialed in, Burrow got Cincy to a Superbowl very quickly after decades of hilarious failure, Washington is pretty frisky this year with Daniels after being a dumpster fire for so long, CJ Stroud immediately made the laughing stock Texans a playoff team, etc. The list of teams that suddenly turned it around is very long and the vast majority of the cause is finding a good QB.

I understand being skeptical of whether or not we'll actually do that this off-season and that's fair but if we do find a good one, look out because this team has the potential to being a nasty playoff team with good coaching and a good QB. I'm a notoriously cynical bastard with near zero expectations every year and even I concede that hitting on the QB makes shit change very fast, even for us. This is why I've hated Davis and his Front Office for so long, they haven't been taking shots in the draft for a QB, just trotting out bullshit washed ones from Free Agency but that all changes this year. It might fail but it might not, you just never know. Who thought Josh Allen would basically be Superman coming from a tiny ass school in the middle of nowhere? Be skeptical but still leave a sliver of faith in there!

Only our fanbase can be critical that Crosby, who singlehandedly carries this defense is questionable because he does not get turnovers. Some players need to see it before they can learn it. Maybe now that he has seen it, he can understand what they are trying to teach him. He has all the physical gifts in the world, its the mental part he needs to grasp. Let him grasp it somewhere else. No more projects, reclamations or middle of the road QB's. Just draft the guy .... whatever it takes this next time, just get him!

I would not want AP in charge of hiring an OC. I think most of us agree with that.

But one thing I have difficulty with is trying to list those things that AP does bring to the table. Yes, he is not McDaniels, he has done a good job of that, but lately I am finding it difficult seeing exactly why the Raiders should retain him at HC. Definitely hasn’t brought what we saw last year. I think the original idea was that he’s a good motivator - brought a level of grit, tenacity to the team (last year).

This year that’s nowhere to be found. We’ve got kind of a pattern of one thing goes wrong and we have no ability to bounce back. We’re not hanging in games, we’re getting run out of the building. The physicality we saw last year has turned into softness.

It does look entirely possible that last years results were more a euphoric state from getting rid of McDaniels as opposed to anything AP actually did.
