So the wife had an area rug she no longer had a use for that she purchased several years back and asked me to sell it for her. I looked up the rug price now and the cheapest I could find it for was 65.00 plus tax new and shipping. My wife is very meticulous and this rug looks brand new with no stains and we don't have pets and a non-smoking house.Diesis » Fri Jun 17, 2022 11:17 am

So I list it on FB marketplace for half price, describe everything with a couple of pictures showing just how pristine this rug is, nothing. Hmmm, time to slash that price to 20 bucks? Nope. Not even one person contacted me. 15? Surely 15 for something in that supreme of condition that is going to cost somebody way more than that. Nothing. 10? Not even one bite. 5, yes you read that correctly, 5 measly bucks. Three (3) people finally contacted me with the ol' "is this still available" reply but never re-contacted me after I told them it was.
At this point a long time has gone by so then I got to thinking, what would happen if I listed it for free? In less than 24 hours I had 37 people clamoring for it including the 3 previous people who wouldn't part with 5 dollars for it.

Somewhat related, although in the opposite way. I read this on line so grain of salt and all that, but someone put their couch out on the curb with a "Free" sign on it. No one picked it up. They replaced the free sign with one that said $100.00. Gone the next day.16 to 88 » Sun Jun 19, 2022 5:44 pm
