To be fair, when I plan it has more to do with months of research of the geography, the layout of where we are staying. I might schedule a few excursions but I find that the hotel you stay at will have great info. This time, since we are there for Christmas, I got us an apartment with a kitchen. No idea what will be open on Christmas day so I need to be prepared for that. I have been told Dublin is basically closed on Christmas day. I will find a grocery store and get the supplies I need to cook for us. Now has begun the weather watch. Also paying attention to the weather at our connector airport. I selected O'Hare purposely because no airport in the US handles weather like O'Hare. Big airport, but our layover is a bit long so I do not have to rush.Sold My Soul wrote Sun Dec 03, 2023 11:45 am:I've found that the more you plan the more that shit can go sideways on ya.
Hope yours goes according to plan.

it depends. I am an avid memorabilia collector and probably have in the range of around 100 autographed items in my collection. So I think it depends on how you value it.Xramfan wrote Sat Dec 09, 2023 1:04 pm:If one has a Blackhawks jersey with the name Griswold on the back and it’s autographed by Chevy Chase, do I have to keep it wrapped up or can I wear it to Christmas parties?

Good info. I looked on Amazon and found the same jersey without the signature for $50 so I am buying that for party wear and I will keep the autographed one clean. 1. If you value the autograph for its long term value, you should shadow box frame it and put it on your wall. I know that Chevy does do a lot of signing, I would estimate the value of that item, sight unseen, at around 200-250 bucks if the jersey is nice and the signing is clean.
2. If you value it for the fun of the item. Wear it, but know that if it gets damaged or the autograph gets smudged you will basically have a jersey with a story. Not a bad thing, I have an Art Shell signed hat that I wear out and about. I also have his autograph on a ball under glass so I do not worry about the hat.
Chevy is a celebrity. Celebrity auto's are tricky things. They go up and down based on a lot of factors, but unlike sports auto's, they can drop to the floor in an instance based on cancel culture. I know, I know, it should not exist but it does and that can make things worthless if someone gets cancelled. Sports guys are not entirely immune to it but even OJ's autographs still hold value. Chevy has taken hits on his reputation over the years but not widespread enough to really affect his value.
But I think it is a cool item, enjoy it however you want.

no problem, autograph collecting can be fun, but it can also be challenging. Authentication is a problem and forgeries are everywhere. I have been bitten by that a couple times. But at least with jerseys you do not have to worry about printed autos. Chevy's is probably not as prone to fakes but not immune. For me, it is about having fun with it. I have the Hanson brothers autos from the movie Slapshot. It is my only "hockey" auto and I find it amazingly funny. I like finding stuff off the beaten path. Your Chevy would be one of those.Xramfan wrote Sun Dec 10, 2023 9:52 am:Good info. I have no idea if it is authentic or not. It was a present from my son last Christmas and I don’t know what site he bought it from. I do t remember if I got any paper with it or not.Attyla wrote Sun Dec 10, 2023 11:16 am:no problem, autograph collecting can be fun, but it can also be challenging. Good chance it is real, the fakes are usually high dollar autos that draw bidders. Chevy does do signings so that would lend itself to a decent amount of stuff on the market. In contrast, Gretzky does not do a lot of signings and he tends not to sign jerseys at all so there are a lot of fakes of his stuff out there.Xramfan wrote Sun Dec 10, 2023 4:58 pm:I have no idea if it is authentic or not. Hanson brothers is epic. That’s a great find

The fact he signs a lot of articles, that will automatically limit it's value in the future...I'd say wear it and enjoy it.Attyla » Wed Dec 13, 2023 6:10 am
value does have a bit to do with how much he signs, but that is not the only factor. Mick signed a ton of stuff but his stuff held value before his death and now the value is way way out there. Chevy's stuff may go up substantially after he passes, or it may hold flat. I tend to think because he was such a huge part of the 80's movie trend coupled with his iconic SNL stuff, his stuff will rise pretty fast after he passes.Sold My Soul wrote Mon Dec 11, 2023 1:38 pm:The fact he signs a lot of articles, that will automatically limit it's value in the future...I'd say wear it and enjoy it.
