Not fun up here Raider fans. Fire a few miles from my front door. We're mostly uphill from it . Under Evac warning. On the other side of the Hwy (44) about 400 yards away, they've been evacuated. Left Fri and came back Sun but still in a pickle.
Got all the goodies loaded up but gonna lose a lot of pretty valuable stuff if it goes haywire ( namely my antler collection). But then again, it's only "stuff". Did make points with the wife though by pulling down our wedding pics she left on the wall. Sorry for the ramble... Asking for prayers. She's pretty shook up over it all.

Sorry to hear man. That fire really blew up. A few years ago I’d be up there on a strike team but they retired my ass out. Keep us in the loop.

Is it true California doesn't do the prescribed controlled burns anymore? If not that makes the fires harder to contain. Hoping for the best for you and your family.

Some local agencies do them in certain counties however the National Forrests have mostly been left alone. Ive hunted Shasta-Trinity areas and it is so dense with dead floor and then thick with ladder fuels and dry timber. Its insane. Some insurance companies have stopped homeowners policies for all of California.

They have also restricted logging quite a bit as well

Starting 6 years ago, my ins started to go up. 780 to 8-something then to 1100. Got dropped before year 4 and today, year 6, I pay over 4 grand. Just carrying minimums, on a retirement income. Sucks.

As for the fire, we're looking at some thunderstorms moving in with 30 to 40 MPH winds this weekend following rising heat and lower humidity these next 2 days.

All vehicles still packed with goodies and my mini motorhome still hangs in there (92 mini-winni/ Toyota V6 w/truck cab. So got a home whatever happens. And yes, my Deer tags and license were some of the first things I grabbed!

Please pray for all who have been touched by this devastating occurrence.
