Brian Setzer did a great show in Sacramento about two years ago. Nearly the same set up as the Stray Cats, but has a piano player too. He had people out of their seats. The dude really knows that fret board.Sold My Soul wrote Sat Apr 17, 2021 7:21 pm:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zk_WpqVFYZg

New Riders of the Purple Stage played at the "Freshman Orientation" dance/concert when I was at UC Santa Cruz (October 1969). I jumped up on the stage at the intermission and slipped through the big curtain and what did I see? I saw none other than John Dawson (AKA Marmaduke) using a cardboard box top to separate the seeds and stems and then he rolled a big joint. He lit it and offered it to me. I obliged and took a couple of puffs; he then said he had to go back stage to his band mates. Well, even rock musicians had crappy Mexican weed back then. Anyway, he was a nice guy and may he RIP.352Raider wrote Mon Apr 19, 2021 8:42 am:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJdq0OcRK3o

Wow, must of been awesome to see and hear what you did back then....Jerry on the steel guitar is classic, what an honor you had to experience that! Too bad the weed was nothing to write home about.RunOverByHubbard wrote Sat Apr 24, 2021 2:32 pm:New Riders of the Purple Stage played at the "Freshman Orientation" dance/concert when I was at UC Santa Cruz (October 1969). Garcia was not playing with NRPS that often and he was not that night. But, the band was good anyway. But, in plethora of concerts I saw from 1967-1973 or so, they were not a stand out. I mean, I got to see Janis and Jimi and Morrison and Moby Grape and best of all The Who. And I do honor and treasure that period of my life. I have a lot of posters from the show I attended, collected later, over the years. For example of one I have:352Raider wrote Sat Apr 24, 2021 8:24 pm:Wow, must of been awesome to see and hear what you did back then....Jerry on the steel guitar is classic, what an honor you had to experience that!
