True but we lack depth at a LOT of positions.Skullz » Sun Aug 19, 2018 3:55 am
Yeah Bono, Joseph is looking like a tweener but I think he can be effective as an in the box safety. Jury is out on him, the Harris story is a good one although I have to admit I was really hoping Obi would be healthy right now. As far as what our entire starting 11 on defense will end up looking like though I actually think it’s gonna be pretty good. Just hope our nickel and dime packages are up to the task. Whoever our top two safeties end up being out there, I don’t think they will be awful. I see a lot to be optimistic about.Sloth_Fratelli » Sun Aug 19, 2018 3:59 am

Of course we need our offensive line to stay healthy or it’s going to get dark fast. But until we cross that bridge we actually will have one of the better lines out there. Penn and Miller will be the weak links but I think they are up to the task. Gruden and Carr will dictate the tempo and as a fan, for me, that’s a very good thing.

So do I. Him at LT and Penn at RT for the foreseeable future. Expect to see a lot of misdirection and pulling, And for them to utilize the strength and athletic ability of our offensive line. With this team the run game is going to be fun to watch. We aren’t gonna see too many of those plays in preseason. The offensive line is actually a strength right now, maybe even one of the best in the league, just zero depth. And Miller and Penn will leave something to be desired in pass direction on deep or intermediate routes, regardless of what numbers say I’m using my eyes. Just gotta scheme around it. Either way, Carrs play should compliment their success.Sloth_Fratelli wrote Sun Aug 19, 2018 3:59 am:Gannon said on the broadcast that he expects Miller to be the starting LT.

Cook has been up & down but is trending upwards but is looking like a prospect finallysignal » Sun Aug 19, 2018 6:35 am
Yes, a bit surprised how badly the backups along the OL played. Also a bit surprised not to see the backup RBs competing for jobs. Warren really kicked ass out there but why was Richard and Washington not used more? It seems like the Raiders will only keep one of these guys...and well, you would think - in a preseason game you would want them out there competing.Skullz wrote Sun Aug 19, 2018 1:15 am:Dudes... all my dudes...
Our backup QBs are fine. It’s our depth on the offensive line that caused most of these problems today. Also our depth at CB. Everyone knew this was going to be a problem. So let’s not all act suprised. The good news is none of this shit is really gonna matter unless guys get injured, and even then, we aren’t talking about playing a bunch of second and third stringers at once.
Zero reason to panic. Not to mention we were extremely vanilla and Gruden was Evaluating depth. Winning this game was at the bottom of the list as far as the priority. Also, I almost prefer getting slept on by our week 1 opponent right now.
I really hope guys step up at corner this year. Seeing our pass rush get wasted is going to drive me insane.
As I said before the game I’m high on Conley and Melvin. Finally. I really think they have the talent but more importantly. the right attitude right now. So we just need guys to stay healthy. And hope our nickel and dime CBs are up to the task. In many ways this will be our X factor. The standards are higher and I truly we can trust this staff to fix what needs to be fixed. That alone is a cause for optimism. But to see you guys bash cook and Manuel, when they basically had a JV oline in front of them. Not really fair. Lol
Take zero away from the final score of this game, for our own good.

Cooks ceiling is as an average backup. We need better than that behind Carr. If there’s one personnel mistake we made this offseason it was not signing a more reliable backup. Someone like Matt Moore would have been perfectEvil Empire » Sun Aug 19, 2018 7:15 am
We need to go all out for Teddy Bridgewater. You couldn't ask for more in terms of a backup. We have many tradable pieces.AutumnWind32 wrote Sun Aug 19, 2018 6:42 am:Cooks ceiling is as an average backup. We need better than that behind Carr. I think we have pretty solid depth compared to recent years. I think we have depth at RB, WR, TE, DL and LBs. I admit the OL depth looked bad which was very surprising. This 3rd presseason game will show alot more of what were capable of. Rams game, we just basically were going thru the motions and trying not to get hurt or show off our actual playbook.Sea of Hands » Sun Aug 19, 2018 8:49 am

So far with two preseason games down, the only thing I’ve seen is how players like Joseph are soon to be a memory in this League. He hits people; hard. That’s being phased out. Defenders will have to start politely asking people to stop running and lay down. But now Karl Joseph (even playing against 2nd/3rd string guys) is getting BEAT in coverage way too often.
