Since there is nothing left to discuss this season, let's start talking draft.

A lot of people repeat the name Nick Bosa as our #1 draft pick, so I wanted to ask why. I have only watched him play 1 or 2 games and he looked fine. I really don't know him very well. I looked at his college stats and they don't floor me. He essentially has two years of production.

Compared to his brother, his stats in the first two years are worse. Nick had 13.5 sacks, Joey had 21. He has had injuries. His sacks this year were against Rutgers and Oregon St, which combined are 3-17 and then he got injured against TCU. In 2 years, he didn't have a single multi-sack game and 12 games without a single sack.

I am not trying to troll, I am just asking why are people so stoked on him? If his name was Nick Smith, will you guys still want him as the #1?

Because people read too much from the so called experts... Bosa is a solid player, but not nearly as good as his brother.

Bosa is the type of player that shows up more on film as he does on the stat sheet. He makes his presence felt on the stat sheet, but what's really impressive is he's consistently in the right place doing the right thing.

He's good against the run and the pass. He plays with excellent leverage and holds the point of attack, containing the rush with 'outside in' leverage while still rushing the passer. He has quick, but heavy, hands-- he has a variety of pass rush moves, and when he gets his hands on you he delivers a blow. Disciplined player. High-end athleticism with high-end motor. Commands double-teams and defeats them. He's the kind of player that will cause trouble on his own but will also make it easier for other players to do their jobs. He's just a very refined player, he'll be effective right away and should be a high-quality player for a long time (providing he stays healthy).

I think he is money first, fame second, a long list of other things, then football.

Really not on board with either Bosa. It's like asking for a hold out.

I personally prefer Ferrell, but it doesn't make a difference. We're drafting a RT #1 overall anyway.

95% of football players are about money now.

I don't know if I would agree, the defense is in shambles, and they need some studs upfront... I think they go defense but I'm not sure I'd go Bosa first

Nick is the definition of an all around player. While he could improve his run technique (where his brother was absolutely stellar) everything else about him suggests he'll be an elite player in the NFL. Joey "produced" more b/c he stayed planted at the DE position. Nick has been all over this line and played many different roles and part of this was due to lack of talent at the DT position last year. He commands a double team everywhere he's at. His first step is one of the fastest I've ever seen. Even better than his brother's IMO. He's also not a one-trick pony. He has many different moves that is extremely beneficial to him b/c he is a cerebral player. Very smart.

He's a day one starter who just need to refine his run defense and I don't doubt he could do that. I am worried about him now w/ this injury. I am less worried about it though since he took off the rest of the season to make sure he's right and ready for his NFL career.

And this is what I hate considering the excellent talent available on defense this year. Some guys who would normally be top 5 picks will fall b/c top end talent is big on that side of the ball.

Ferrell is a good player, but doesn’t have the athleticism of Bosa.

The reason his stats aren’t as good as his brothers is the heavy line rotation used at Ohio St.

Bosa is plug n play. It would be a slam dunk if we can draft this kid.

Valid question and definitely the last name helps but I think with him mainly you know what you’re getting - he’ll come in and be a double digit sack guy pretty much instantly. He’s also polished - he’s got hands, he’s got counter moves, he’s got the first step and bend (probably better than his brother).

You don’t normally find guys as pro- ready. While i think athletically he might be a rung under the Garrett’s and clowneys out there I think he’s a better prospect than Chubb.

Josh Allen from Kentucky is the other guy that really intrigues me. Not as polished as Bosa and gonna need to grow into a full time pass rusher but damn - his first step and speed around the edge are unteachable. If you think you can coach this kid up (who seems to add a new weapon every week) I think he could be better than Bosa. From a risk perspective Bosa is a much safer pick still though

Because he is a more athletic Joey Bosa, and one of two blue chip prospects in this class. It's a no brainer for a team with the worst pass-rush in history.
