You both add an, um, interesting spice to the flavor of the board and I wouldn't want to see either of you leave. And besides, three plus years is a long ways off and who will care by then.

I'm not sure why anyone cares this much about a faceless poster on a message board.

If you dislike someone on a message board then, at most, you read the first and last sentences of what they say because that's where bad posters choose to take shots at other posters. I can't say I read much of the middle of what Ivan says, but much of it could be overheard at a local pub near closing time and probably wouldn't carry much weight.

The best way to marginalize a bad poster is to ignore them, instead of replying to everything they say.

Ignoring him works great. A few posters jump at his every word and he just posts more. When they are not around he rarely even posts and when he does it's not ridiculous because nobody else will take the bait. I love talking to folks on here but I'm not losing any sleep over any of them. It's like being at a big party you just don't hang out with those you don't like

that is your opinion. I have read where he is never wrong. OK, if that is the case, he has nothing to fear and nothing to lose. If he is lying, he will refuse the challenge and I will claim a victory which I will repeatedly remind him of every time one of the top 3 QBs in next year's draft start a game in 2026, should I breathe at that time. Make no mistake, he has taken his shots at me and I know his motives. The gauntlet has been thrown down and now I want to see if he is man enough to accept. I doubt he is.

we shall see, I have offered the bet, his credibility is on the line. Either he can back his claims and accept or he is a fraud. there is no middle ground.

Attyla wrote Sat Nov 26, 2022 3:21 pm:Tell you what Ivan (and yes, you posting in the Carr thread encourages me to look) I will make you a serious bet. You say the first round QBs are busts. I will allow you to put your money where your mouth is....If even one of the top 3 QBs drafted in 2023 are starting in year 3, you stop posting forever. If none of the three is not starting (or number 1 on the depth chart but not starting due to injury) I will do the same. And everyone knows that is quite a thing for me to bet considering. That gives you three years to be right. And by start of 2026 if one is starting, by definition, that means not a bust.

Care to take me up on this or are you going to pretend you never posted that the first round QBs next year are busts and move onto another completely false narrative. How about it, economist? You claim you are never wrong, prove it.

Over & over I read that we can get rid of Derek Carr pretty cheap next year against the cap.

What I want to know is if we keep him for 2023 are we obligated to keep him for 2024? (not obligated, but you know)

Meaning, will his contract be guaranteed after 2023? or can we dump him in 2023 with hardly anything against the cap in 2024?

If we keep Carr for 2023 then $7.5 million of his 2024 salary is guaranteed. So if we cut him in 2024 then the dead money hit is about $12 million when you add on the dead money from his signing bonus.

Yeah, he said he could get with his buddies and win a Super Bowl, but he'll do us a huge favor and grace us, the lowly Raiders, with his omni-presence instead, super nice, awesome and loyal guy that he is.

Every board has a couple of members do these bets. Usually resulting in a loser leaving for a few months before returning and then getting called out for returning resulting in more back and forth from each poster and their allies and it goes on and on and on like sand through the hour glass and dysfunctional Raider seasons, these are the days of our lives...

I'm just here for the beer and popcorn

(On a side note, a better bet is a reasonable amount of money put up which the loser has to donate to the charity of the winners choice)
