It does hold some weight, but when people have to go so far outside the lines to defend Carr, I think that says enough. Anyone whose watched this game long enough knows what they're seeing.Jeremyturner1976 wrote Thu Aug 18, 2022 11:19 am:The argument blaming the defense just holds no weight - the offense has sucked damn near as bad - while using significantly more of our salary cap.

If two players are equally good, then their cost would be a simple way to determine which has more value. The cheaper player(drafted )would have more value than the free agent player. One could then argue that the Raiders invested more on defense given the costof draft picks in relation to the players’ talent.GoodTimeCharlie wrote Thu Aug 18, 2022 12:00 pm:1 guess. What’s cheaper, a good player on a free agent contract, or a good player on a rookie contract?

So your feeble attempt at humor is all you could come up with to rebut my point.GoodTimeCharlie wrote Thu Aug 18, 2022 6:08 pm:https://media1.tenor.com/images/4ef36ef ... d=12678639

Couldn’t agree more. We’ve been putrid with personnel on both sides of the ball but defence has been almost incomprehensible. If Andy Reid secretly infiltrated our draft room and deliberately tried to draft flops for us… the results likely still wouldn’t have been as bad as what our FO did on its own. It’s not for a lack of investment - we just sucked at investingdanchase45 wrote Thu Aug 18, 2022 11:46 am:The defense since Carr has been invested in heavily by the draft. Here are some facts for everyone. Since 2014 when Carr has been drafted, here is the breakdowns.
First round - Defense (6 picks) Offense (5 picks)
Second Round - Defense (6 picks) Offense (1 pick and that was Carr)
Our drafting has been downright atrocious, and many years have set back this team every year. In 2016 we drafted Joseph, Ward, and Calhoun as our top three picks to help our defense. In 2017 we drafted Conley, Obi, Vanderdoes. Stop this nonsense that we invested only on offense.

Last season during a game against Dallas, Herbert threw a TD pass for three yards. That's what the stat sheet will say. What the stat sheet won't say is that he avoided 3 D-linemen, scrambled while keeping his eyes down the field, and then fired a dart on the run between two defenders to get that TD pass. Meanwhile, the Chargers had the worst rushing D in the league. But who cares??? We're not talking about the Chargers defense; we're talking about Herbert.
I don't care how shitty a defense is. When you have a QB that makes plays, you know it. You don't have to fight about it, you don't have to shift goalposts, bend over backwards to cherry pick stats, or make up excuses.

Yes you are missing the Biggest difference.Stafford is a tough mofo who has a pair.danchase45 wrote Thu Aug 18, 2022 1:13 pm:Let me use Matthew Stafford as an example. People like points per game. So what about this argument? Stafford versus Carr. I won't even use Lions versus Raiders, because people here think that wins and losses is a QB stat.
2014 - Carr (15.8 31st) Stafford (20.1 22nd)
2015 - Carr (22.4 16th) Stafford (22.4 17th)
2016 - Carr (25.3 9th) Stafford (20.7 22nd)
2017 - Carr (18.8 22nd) Stafford (25.6 8th)
2018 - Carr (18.1 28th) Stafford (20.3 25th)
2019 - Carr (19.6 24th) Stafford (21.3 18th)
2020 - Carr (27.1 10th) Stafford (23.6 20th)
2021 - Carr (21.8 18th) Stafford (19.1 25th)
Stafford is a crappy QB. He only had a top 10 offense one year. He even was in the league for 5 years before I started comparing him to Carr. It was his fault the Lions sucked. Oh wait, he won the Superbowl last year. What was different about Stafford last year? Could coaching, good drafting, and signing good free agents actually make a QB better? Am I missing something here?

because when our receivers fail they suck but when one improves, credit CarrTrainnvain wrote Thu Aug 18, 2022 5:41 pm:What difference does it make if he is a system fit or a Carr fit? Carr was the QB in that system and threw every pass that hit him in the hands

Does Derek Carr wear eyeliner even though he is a Christian?

and no, he does not, he has dark medial and lateral canthus. The condition is called Periorbital Hyperpigmentation and is fairly common.
