And in case you were wondering, here are the AFC-West QB rankings from the above article:live.B.A.raida » Mon Jul 25, 2022 10:46 am
Carr is like a Soap Opera, you can leave it alone for a full year.. come back and pick up right where you left off because it doesn’t change. Same damn story lol….GoodTimeCharlie wrote Fri Jul 15, 2022 1:10 pm:I believe a quarterback can improve in any attribute. Hell, even hand-size can improve for a short spell. Josh Allen is the poster-child for improvement. He came into the league as a better version of Trubisky and transformed himself into an absolutely “elite” quarterback.
So why can’t Carr?
Dedication and Intelligence. We are entering year 9 with a quarterback who has been a carbon copy of himself year after year. Sometimes we catch some fortunate breaks and Carr lays it all on the line like in 2016. And sometimes the breaks don’t go our way and Carr puts in a decent to good effort for half a season. Like the other 7 years. 2016 was a total outlier. We’ve seen the best that Carr can be, and we will never see that again.
Year fucking 9.
Same quarterback. Same Carr. Same small brain. Same small heart. Same damn story.

Such a bullshit reason though.signal wrote Mon Jul 25, 2022 8:49 am:“I’ve coached against him quite a bit, and he sees it, he makes checks, he can operate the offense, he has all the physical skills,” a defensive coordinator said. “His issue is, he just doesn’t like to be hit. You hit him a lot, then you can get him. But if he is on time, on rhythm and protected, he can do it all.”
This rings true for me and coincides with what I see when I watch games. Maintaining composure when the other team is bringing it is not one of the traits Carr brings to the table. I know it pisses people off, but I have seen it too many times, Carr does fold like a cheap shirt when the going gets tough and it just not me who sees it but those who coach against him.

Did I say that QBs get better when they get hit? Good grief, try using some reading comprehension. I know after watching Carr for the last 8 years, you might not realize it, but there are some QBs that don't fold like a cheap shirt. Try watching some other games.FlyBono24 wrote Mon Jul 25, 2022 11:04 am:Such a bullshit reason though.
Doesn't EVERY QB start getting flustered when the O-line breaks down and they start getting pounded into the ground constantly? Has any QB ever gotten BETTER after getting hit a bunch of times?

not every QB gets flustered when getting hit. And Carr has rarely been constantly been "pounded into the ground" as you said. If he gets hit, he can get rattled. When Wilson gets hit, he still throws TDs and stands in there. Same with most all the guys on the list of the top producing QBs. I believe there was a certain Bengals QB who got blasted weekly and still went to the dance unrattled.FlyBono24 wrote Mon Jul 25, 2022 11:04 am:Such a bullshit reason though.

I am fan of several teams in other sports. At no time have I ever encountered stuff where some are so caught up with the hero worship that they are unable to accept any criticism of the player. It is really odd the way some people need to defend him no matter the evidence.Attyla wrote Mon Jul 25, 2022 11:30 am:not every QB gets flustered when getting hit. Derek has flaws in his game like every QB but his biggest in my opinion is that he does not respond well to getting knocked around. It is not a crime to point out this flaw in his game. That is what this thread is supposed to do as well as point out his positives. Relax, we will find out soon enough if the new braintrust can help smooth out his flaws and max out his positives.

yea, I point out that Aaron Judge has problems with low and away and high and tight and other Yankee fans say "yea" but he has improved on some of that. I say that Gretzky parked his ass near the net and waited on passes for half of his career and hockey fans say, "yea, that was Gretzky's office." Flaws are part of the game, maybe the one guy I can think of who did not have a "flaw" in his game was Ty Cobb and that unspeakable bastard never even sniffed a ring inthe World Series. I don't mind guys who are flawed, heck I expect them. Pointing out the flaws is just conversation. I am not the guy running around saying Carr is shit. I point out the flaws, and I will continue until that pass to end the game is a touchdown instead of an interception.signal wrote Mon Jul 25, 2022 12:19 pm:I am fan of several teams in other sports. That said, like you, I am hoping the new coaching staff can take Carr to the next level.

It is bonkers, but I think I have a reasonably good attempt of explaining it:signal wrote Mon Jul 25, 2022 12:19 pm:I am fan of several teams in other sports. so it bears the question, and we have been asking it since the disaster of 2017...is this his make it or break it year? His contract says yes, and the new weapon he has suggests a balls to the walls approach which also implies yes. If he replicates last year is that good enough?JRaider17 » Mon Jul 25, 2022 1:50 pm
It really sucks that every time we say this something catastrophic/didn't see coming happens, sometimes multiple times in the same year.Attyla wrote Mon Jul 25, 2022 1:41 pm:so it bears the question, and we have been asking it since the disaster of 2017...is this his make it or break it year? Me personally, I know a lot of the old time fans are getting to that edgy "running out of time" feeling of never reliving the glory days. I for one still have some tread on the tires but I am far nearer the finish line that the starting line. So for me, replicating is not in the cards, the offense as a whole has to improve on a sharp incline. That has to start with the guy who has the ball in his hand. Yes the defense has to do its part but if we are going to be using a lot more short passing that keeps the defense off the field. McDaniels has to figure out how to win the TOP game so our offense is setting the tempo and not putting the defense out there longer. Frankly, back to my previous point, I know a few of guys who are not going to be around if this does not work in the next couple years.
Attyla » Mon Jul 25, 2022 2:07 pm
yea, and I am actually thinking about a few guys I know that are enjoying extra innings and I am not sure how may they are going to enjoy. I remember when the Cubs won it all there was this story about a guy who was on his death bed and his son was with him as the fireworks went into the sky. He was not sure if his dad heard the announcers celebrate the final out. It was a terribly poignant moment for me. I certainly want to see us win one more, but I want it more for our guys who are rounding third base.JRaider17 wrote Mon Jul 25, 2022 1:50 pm:It really sucks that every time we say this something catastrophic/didn't see coming happens, sometimes multiple times in the same year.

Russell Wilson has played behind worse olines his entire career. I heard he isn’t too bad.FlyBono24 wrote Mon Jul 25, 2022 11:04 am:Such a bullshit reason though.
