I’m a Young guy,but I wouldn’t mind Carter in the first and a Richardson/Hooker in the second.STHfrontrow wrote Fri Nov 18, 2022 6:55 am:So with the 3rd pick in next years draft the Raiders should select Jalen Carter from Georgia?
Stidham to start next year with the cap space saved from Carr we use to fill out the rest of the roster.
IF the Raiders are lucky they will get some draft capital for Carr in a trade and then can use that to get the QB of the future.

I could live with that.HesterLayes wrote Fri Nov 18, 2022 8:10 am:I’m a Young guy,but I wouldn’t mind Carter in the first and a Richardson/Hooker in the second.

Yeah. I've only been kind of joking the past two years when I said we should draft all DTs. We have 10 draft picks in 2023. I'm so f'ing fed up with getting gashed up front in the rung game, no interior push on passing downs, and our pass rush consisting singularly of Maxx Crosby.Raiderz4life wrote Fri Nov 18, 2022 4:00 am:No the top need on this defense is a DT and it's not even close. The teams interior pass rush is absolutely loathsome

Are you sold on Carter? He looks really good but I have a hard time taking him over will Anderson - guys a superstar imo.HesterLayes wrote Fri Nov 18, 2022 8:10 am:I’m a Young guy,but I wouldn’t mind Carter in the first and a Richardson/Hooker in the second.

I won’t pretend to know who the good QB is going to be but I am ok with taking a swing and missing. Failing happens, not trying is inexcusable. I hope Derek continues to cry and embarrass this franchise, Mark deserves it if for keeping him this long.Raidernation1979 » Fri Nov 18, 2022 9:14 am
Failing only occurs is you give up. Keep swinging.sdraider85 wrote Fri Nov 18, 2022 9:10 am:I won’t pretend to know who the good QB is going to be but I am ok with taking a swing and missing. To win what exactly?heavyD wrote Fri Nov 18, 2022 7:59 am:I’m being totally honest in that the offense is good enough to win with a top 15 defense. Building a top 15 defense should be the goal and I don’t mean via free agency as that simply hasn’t worked out for this organization.

As I mentioned, forget the offense. You can keep kidding yourself that it is 'good enough to compete' but I saw that offense fail to cross the 50 yard line against a bottom tier defense in a must win to stay in the playoff race game.heavyD wrote Fri Nov 18, 2022 7:59 am:I’m being totally honest in that the offense is good enough to win with a top 15 defense. Doesn't his contract get guaranteed for the next 3 years if we keep him beyond 2/15? If that's the case, I don't see him being a lame duck at that price.GUYDON wrote Thu Nov 17, 2022 4:19 pm:He may be back, but we will have a high draft pick rookie waiting to play. I personally think he is gone and a guy like Stidem plays the first couple weeks until Levis (or who ever) is ready. If Carr is back he will ne a lame duck. I think the coaches are well aware of his coaches pet routine

I am not persuaded by your answer.Jeremyturner1976 wrote Fri Nov 18, 2022 9:37 am:As I mentioned, forget the offense. Back to defense though -
First, 30 million is three proven defenders - 2 Linebackers and a DT.
Second, A first round pick is a single player, not proven in the league at all.
Third, you say free agency has not worked. Exactly how great has drafting defensive players in the first round worked?

Not gonna happen.Willmark wrote Fri Nov 18, 2022 3:02 am:Again I don’t want him back, haven’t since 2018. I’m only telling you he is going to be back and are going to continue the same conversations as we are right now.
It sucks but is what it is.

If the Raiders wish to remain an average or a below average team than they will keep Carr.tatalalicious » Fri Nov 18, 2022 12:08 pm
Nah, any attempt to rebuild the defense will take years, alot of draft capital and money some of which is tied up on offence, the talent top to bottom just isnt there. Keeping Carr at 35 - 40 million per will make that job almost impossible and his track record of erratic play means that nobody can credibly say that the offense is set with him at the helm. Drafting a rookie qb at the top of the draft buys the franchise time and frees up money that can spent elsewhere on the roster, it makes too much sense. I think this new regime probably knew Carr's deficiencies well in advance of this season and gave themselves an out should things go south this year. His play on the field and crying at the press conference, especially from a 9 year vet only strengthens the decision to dump him after the season. Remember these guys are accustomed to having a qb like Brady as a field general. I don't see the Raiders keeping Carr, especially at his salary over the next few seasons.heavyD wrote Fri Nov 18, 2022 7:59 am:I’m being totally honest in that the offense is good enough to win with a top 15 defense. He'll restructure and babble on about doing it for BS reasons like helping the team...It will look better on paper but make no mistake Mark will be dumb enough to keep him AND pay him all the money...The $$$ will be reaarranged but in the end Mark will pay the sackless Turd a boatload more than he's worth and fking the Raiders yet again.16 to 88 wrote Thu Nov 17, 2022 8:46 pm:Both excellent points.
They are not going to give him 35m next year coupled with 25m in dead cap space. His replacement is on the way he knows he is being shown the door and is broken mentally...
