100% on cost.Attyla wrote Wed Aug 10, 2022 3:59 pm:possible, probable. Our cap space in 2023 at this time is not favorable to signing a RB to a big contract or even a reasonable contract.
I anticipate us being a player in the 3rd round range replacement for our RB1

We also currently only have 41 guys under contract next year. However looking at those numbers it’s only 4 players with a negative cap hit if cut pre June 1. That’s interesting. I also agree they plan to roll over as much as as they can.Jeremyturner1976 wrote Wed Aug 10, 2022 5:54 pm:100% on cost.
Without signing Waller, over the cap shows that we have a tiny bit to work with in '23. Literally only a couple of million more than we currently have left this year. We won't be signing much of anyone in '23 is my guess.
It is why I still feel we go into '22 with a significant part of our remaining 22 million for this year carrying over. 45+ million next year moves the chains imo.

McDaniels went all in for this year, Josh is a weapon, he is not going anywhere. The OPs logic is flawedRaiders Baby » Thu Aug 11, 2022 10:07 am
On our end, the only trade that I think makes sense is player for player. If we could swap Jacobs for an OT or NT, maybe we would think about that. But what team and what player? Doubtful we could get a starting quality OT for Jacobs, but maybe a NT? Is that even worth it?raiders93 » Thu Aug 11, 2022 11:26 am
All about the trade value which I think is ultimately why a trade is highly unlikely. RBs don’t tend to have much trade value by nature - less when they’re in a contract year.Raiders Baby wrote Thu Aug 11, 2022 10:07 am:On our end, the only trade that I think makes sense is player for player. It’s fair to say our RB room is deep, and we’ll probably cut guys that will make other teams as depth. From that perspective, the Jacobs trade idea is interesting. But I tend to agree with the “all hands on deck” side of the argument — doesn’t make sense to trade Jacobs for future assets when we’re all in right now. Unless we can get a guy that immediately improves another position (a tricky proposition) I wouldn’t do it. I’d rather have a position group that’s extra deep than a future asset (even knowing we’re likely to lose Jacobs next offseason)

This is Ivan's clowniest post so far this yearIvanavich wrote Wed Aug 10, 2022 2:50 pm:Ivan says that Jacobs will get traded in 2022.
I asked myself-- is Jacobs going to win the Raiders any playoff games as the starting HB getting 20 attempts at touches in games?
My answer is -- no. No playoff wins with Jacobs as the starter. In the playoffs, the HB has to be able to break tackles and get 1st downs and TDs. Jacobs can be covered by a LB. When the opponent's defense takes away one WR, as is the typical strategy, Jacobs won't be able to punish the defense in the passing game.
Jacobs can get 1,000 yards, if healthy. He's competent as a runner. He can pass block competently. Unfortunately, in the playoffs, that usually isn't enough.
Jacobs is going to get traded for a 4th round pick in 2023. as that is his projected comp value, IMO. I am not employed by the Raiders in any capacity. You can say that you read it here first.

As constructed, we have a three-year championship window. Will Jacobs here in 2022 help us achieve that championship more than a mid-round 2023 draft pick would?Attyla wrote Thu Aug 11, 2022 2:56 am:McDaniels went all in for this year, Josh is a weapon, he is not going anywhere. I keep thinking about this fact. Having adults in the front office has already been so rewarding this season.

we are actually a one year window team with two option years. The QB contract determines if the options happen or notSir Raider Duck, OMS wrote Thu Aug 11, 2022 12:42 pm:As constructed, we have a three-year championship window. I believe so, which is why he won't be traded unless someone makes a ridiculous offer.
