Everybody’s got a price. Jacobs and Hunt are the 2 starter worthy RB’s to get if a perennial playoff team’s starting RB goes down in the preaseason.Jeremyturner1976 » Mon Aug 08, 2022 4:04 pm
If our road graders can get it done up front, and they were opening some big holes, I am almost as excited to see that as I am the receivers.GoodTimeCharlie wrote Mon Aug 08, 2022 2:05 pm:Everybody’s got a price. But I do look forward to seeing Zeus and Jacobs as 1A-1B.

We get more if he leaves after the season. 3rd round compesatory pick is what people are saying.DrDUne wrote Mon Aug 08, 2022 8:57 am:While I agree with you, others won't see it that way. It is "coach speak";

It's fun to read people responding without discussing the premise of the OP.Attyla » Tue Aug 09, 2022 3:13 am
actually everyone was discussing the premise of the subject line and the original post. You are just not happy because pretty much everyone shot it down.Ivanavich wrote Tue Aug 09, 2022 2:17 am:It's fun to read people responding without discussing the premise of the OP.
and they have lost games when he was out, this sentence means nothingIt is a fact that the Raiders have won games when Jacobs was out.
this is not a fact. His stat line is actually really good as a receiver in space. It was Gruden's system that hamstrung him because Gruden did not call plays very often that targeted Jacobs in the passing game, and that is on GrudenIt is a fact that Jacobs hasn't been very good as a receiver when he was in space.
it is doubtful he gets beat out by one of the other guys. The stable we have is not that strong. And him getting beat out by the rest of the backs combined? I would hope that 4 other guys combined can exceed what a single player can do. That is how the game is being played these days.Jacobs isn't irreplaceable. Jacobs could get beat out by one of the other backs... or get beat out by the play of the rest of the group of backs as a whole.
As of right now, we will not be spending big in free agency. We are projected to have less than 10M in cap space. As for Jacobs value as a compensatory pick? Jacobs might only get 600 yards or he might get 1200 yards. It will not matter. What will matter is that he is a 2 time 1K back and teams will look at his entire body of work in consideration of signing him. GMs are not short sighted guys.Jacobs might only rush for 600 yards. If it happens, he won't get a big FA contract and the Raiders won't get a 3rd round compensatory pick... and, for the record, if the Raiders GM plans on spending BIG $$$ for FAs next year, Jacobs contract won't have any compensatory value at all.
If he plays all 17 games, he will exceed 60 yards per game in all purpose yards. And that I would put money on.Personally, if I were to bet money, which I will not, I'd bet that Jacobs gets less that 1,000 yards rushing in 2022 if he plays all 17 games as a Raider. So, now you know my position.

It's highly unlikely Jacobs would get us a 3rd round comp pick. If he got paid $8 million a year, for example, he'd be projected to bring us a 5th.HesterLayes wrote Mon Aug 08, 2022 9:19 am:They will run his tires off this year and then let him and drake(if not cut) hit the open market and get a 3rd comp pick.
They drafted their replacements already for 2023 with White and brown.

if we get a 6th or 7th and the production associated with his best years here I am cool with it. RBs do not last long so we have gotten what we can out of the guy. One more year of solid production and I consider it a draft pick we did not waste in the first, which is saying a lot over the last few yearschucker wrote Tue Aug 09, 2022 5:48 am:It's highly unlikely Jacobs would get us a 3rd round comp pick. It s an unfortunate fact that RBs aren’t that valued anymore in NFL.chucker » Tue Aug 09, 2022 10:29 am
I agree. I think Jacobs will be a valuable part of our offense so I'd rather just use him and then if White is the heir apparent, well then that's awesome. It's certainly true that you can find RBs later in the draft with a 6th or 7th comp pick, but you're more likely to find a guy who does nothing. Jacobs has as many yards as the the 11 6th and 7th round guys picked in his draft year combined.Attyla wrote Tue Aug 09, 2022 5:54 am:if we get a 6th or 7th and the production associated with his best years here I am cool with it. yes, it is not as cut and dry as those who say you can get the same production from a 6th or 7th rounder or even a group of the same. Jacobs may have been drafted too soon but that is a subjective thing. But his projections were most always a first rounder.chucker wrote Tue Aug 09, 2022 10:29 am:I agree.
