Thats not how contracts work, the team can't just tear it up and write a new one. Players have to agree to the new contract for it to take effect. Carr could just say "nope" and keep collecting his checks, they could cut him but that would be stupid.Jeremyturner1976 wrote Wed Sep 28, 2022 11:16 am:We could always rewrite his contract also and use him as a bridge QB. If nothing else we can re-sign him closer to his value. I just don't see anyone (Including us) paying 35 then 42 million.
He has his work cut out for him this season if he thinks that is happening imo.

When the option is to get cut with two million dead money, or to sign a new contract more appropriate to his value - I believe the option is simple.sooperkool wrote Wed Sep 28, 2022 2:09 pm:Thats not how contracts work, the team can't just tear it up and write a new one. Who would ever sign a contact if they could be voided so easily and without consent?

You're focussing on the wrong part of my post i think,. Sure they could cut him and go with a rookie...that part i think is stupid and as such it's somewhat of an empty threat because McD would need to hit a home run in the draft for it to work out. But yes, Carr has been performing below his usual standards as of late, I don't think he'll be cut because of it because cutting him says " I can do better right now than Carr" and Davis has stated that we're not doing another rebuild right now.Jeremyturner1976 wrote Wed Sep 28, 2022 2:23 pm:When the option is to get cut with two million dead money, or to sign a new contract more appropriate to his value - I believe the option is simple.
The team has all of the power in this situation. You have read the contract right?
Carr signed a year to year contract essentially, and so every year as opposed to getting cut it can be rewritten - or he can be cut.
2 million is pocket change and Carr holds nothing near 35 million in value. As mentioned, he would have to absolutely go wild for our team to even consider keeping him at 35.
Look at his last 17 games, it is bad. Like bottom 10 QB level bad. Hell, he isn't even completing 61% of his passes this year. Cutting him would be far from stupid if we go QB in this draft - which I believe we do.

I believe this season and Carr's last 17 games significantly alters even dimwitted Davis's opinion.sooperkool wrote Wed Sep 28, 2022 2:37 pm:You're focussing on the wrong part of my post i think,. So, in essence Carr holds all the power.

I just want to respond to the draft part of this. Yes, they would need to hit a home run, but to keep that analogy going, this upcoming draft seems to have a lot of fat pitches in it, and we've been playing our way into a hitter's count with our 0-3 record.sooperkool wrote Wed Sep 28, 2022 2:37 pm:Sure they could cut him and go with a rookie...that part i think is stupid and as such it's somewhat of an empty threat because McD would need to hit a home run in the draft for it to work out.

A homerun? Carr is 0-3…Gtfo with that BS we can be 0-3 with an UDFA QB. Typical fanboy drivel acting like replacing Dereks “production” is difficult.sooperkool » Wed Sep 28, 2022 3:24 pm

Dude has "proved" way more than enough. Time to let it go. I don't want any one read, silver spoon stank rubbing off on our prospect.Jeremyturner1976 wrote Wed Sep 28, 2022 3:40 pm:For my part.
Carr as a cheap bridge QB at 15 or less, or Baker/Garrapolo at 5. I would even give Stidham a chance as a bridge QB.
The first option gives Carr another prove it year as well and gives us far more firepower for our cash strapped '23 season.
I also want a top 5 pick 1st round QB. Let the chips fall where they may on who that is. Ziegler's guess will be far better than mine but like the Chiefs, it is time to roll the dice.
I do like what I have heard about Levi's.

Again gtfo with the BS. Our season is done. We won’t be making the playoffs and will be lucky not to finish 4th place in the AFC West.sooperkool wrote Wed Sep 28, 2022 3:24 pm:Were the season only 3 games long you might have a point

You have every right to give up on the season. i choose not to, why does that make you mad? None of us have the ability to change the team or actually play for them. I don't question your fandom, don't question mine when i promote positivity in the face of negativity.sdraider85 wrote Wed Sep 28, 2022 4:53 pm:Again gtfo with the BS. Our season is done.
