Good get him the fuck out yesteryear.GUYDON wrote Thu Nov 17, 2022 2:35 pm:McD isnt going anywhere he is "doing what he was hired to do". Carr will become the scapegoat, we will draft a QB high, excitement will take hold, jerseys will be sold, all will be forgotten once Raiders start winning and the world will say "wow maybe carr WAS that bad"

It’s no secret that the Raiders have been one of the most cash poor franchises in the league and it will take time to catch up the the other teams. I don’t know how it affects signing bonuses and coaching hires, but when too FA signing bonuses have topped 50 million and you’re NOI is 30 million, that makes it tough.

value is not the same as cash solvency. Value addresses worth if sold. Mark is straped with a large amount of debt each year as well as a hefty payroll. While I do not think the report is accurate, it is not unreasonable to think that the amount of time in Vegas, coupled with the first year with zero butts in the seats has not fully equipped him with the financial windfall he will ultimaely get. He also bought another sports team in a far riskier financial arena.NoClapsPlease wrote Fri Nov 18, 2022 9:48 am:Your info is dated
The franchise‘s worth has gone up 49% since moving. It’s one of the most valuable franchises in the league. They’ve already caught up and leapfrogged over 2/3 of the entire league in a matter of 24 months.

I didn’t suggest they were the sameVEfreak wrote Fri Nov 18, 2022 10:12 am:Asset value =/= net operating income
Net operating income was negative 5 million in 2020, after the move. It was about 120 million in 2021, good for 23rd in the league. The raiders have triple their net operating income since 2019 but they took on a ton of debt to do it and it could be a while before they match the big boys (>200 million a year).
Like I said, the cash in reserve must have been very little compared with the rest of the league because the net operating income was so poor for so long. It will take time to build a war chest.

That’s not what I said at all. I said they had a bunch of years of horrible revenue, followed by one negative year, and then on single year of okay revenue.NoClapsPlease wrote Tue Nov 22, 2022 4:01 am:I didn’t suggest they were the same
All franchises have debt
You suggested the franchise was still in the red and amongst the poorest of franchises and I simply said your info is dated.
5 in the red in 2020
+ 111 in the black for 2021
And it’ll be up even more in 2022, perhaps the 200+ or very close to it.
Info is dated and perhaps irrelevant at this point.
Fresh from buying a WNBA franchise with liquid cash, signing gruden to 100 mil contract during the low points where some thought we couldn’t even afford to pay Khalil Mack. But ~ 24-32 million in firing mcdaniels is going to shut the doors?
Please.
I call bullshit.

It’s not that Mark can’t afford to fire McDaniels (of course he can) and more that it’s just bad business in general to fire a head coach in year one of a four year contract. Teams rarely ever do this after the first season to a coach signed to 4 years or more. It’s why Rhule made it to year three and it’s why Kingsbury won’t be fired as they mistakenly extended him and have to keep him. Steve Wilks was that last one and done coach and it’s a pretty rare for most management groups to admit mistake after just one year and have to justify to ownership.deathstar wrote Mon Nov 21, 2022 11:22 pm:The reporter who said, "Mark Davis is not going to fire Josh McDaniels due to money" is untrue .

Journalistic integrity is less and less common. Sadly, narratives that run amok without any shred of supporting evidence are too easily gobbled up by the masses. I'm sure Plaschke is writing his correction piece as we speak...deathstar wrote Mon Nov 21, 2022 11:22 pm:The reporter who said, "Mark Davis is not going to fire Josh McDaniels due to money" is untrue .
