I'm notorious for my horrific takes on the draft and constantly overthink it but that year I wanted Burns at 4 and I was crucified. We'll just ignore the fact that I wanted N'Keal Harry at 27 hahahahahahha

By next Friday (or is it Wed?) we will know if Carr is cut. If not cut we will know there is someone talking trade with the Raiders.

Next up will be the combine; this will shake up the top ten in mocks somewhat.

Then comes free agency, hopefully our haul will include a d lineman, an o lineman, and a lb or db. And a qb? Who they sign will tell us more about their thinking.

Then we ought to have a pretty good idea of where we are going in the draft. I can't wait!

Charlie Campbell (Walter Football) is one of the most accurate mock draft gurus over the past few years (if not the most accurate), which is based on multiple metrics - I have a link below if you are interested in past mock draft accuracy. His latest mock (Feb 6) has the Raiders taking AR15 at #7.

Mock draft: https://www.nflmockdraftdatabase.com/mo ... 2023-02-06

Mock Draft Grading: https://www.fantasypros.com/nfl/accurac ... drafts.php

A lot can happen between now and the draft, but if Rodgers or Jimmy G are not on the team and AR15 is there at #7 then I'm guessing he will be the pick.

Campbell does seem to rank high in accuracy most years, but I'd assume that's based on his last mock of each draft season and not the early February version. Mocks this time are year are pretty loose with a lot more information to come from teams and from prospects.

IMO, you cannot count on targeting a certain QB next year. If he is that good, a lot of teams will be targeting him. I say decide if one of the top three are good enough to draft at #7 and take him. If not, take the best defender on the board. Go with Stidham or maybe (MAYBE) sign a FA to start next season. If we don't field a good defense, it won't matter who is QB'ing. Look at the Chiefs -- I bet many of us cannot name a starter on their defense except for Chris Jones. They have a superior QB and make sure they have a good OL and weapons. Then they have great game-planning and in-game adjustments on offense in particular. They get along with a decent or middling defense that makes some plays when they need to. Their pass rush game the Bengals fits at times. Aside from Crosby, our pass rush sucks and has sucked for 15 years.

Some stats on our defense:
Dead last in interceptions
Third to the worst in sacks.
Third to the worst in completion percentage (opponents complete a high percentage)
Bottom of the middle third in rushing defense stats
Towards the bottom in forced fumbles and recoveries

Our top three picks should be LBs, DBs, and DLs.

I’ve mentioned Charlie is solid in the past.We often chat.Good guy. He usually nails the Raiders picks for some reason.Abram for example.

Once we get Rodgers or the QB spot is lined up,he will know more.

I don’t want to swap with Green Bay.The pick compensation is all over the place.I still believe it won’t be anything significant.

I'd be ok with a swap of 1st rounders and some form of the pick(s) if Carr is traded

Bottom line is if you want a superstar, you're gonna have to pay. Imo Rodgers is still elite even if he's coming off of a statistical down year. But then you have to factor in a bum thumb and scab level receivers to throw to

Mizzou guy here..
Levis had three short TDs against us.I wasn’t super impressed though.I know injuries and surrounding talent…I just was never “wowed” with him this year.

I finally watched some film of Levis. I would not draft him. Too high of bust potential.

I think it’s because he’s the only guy that allows the Raiders to change from the Al Davis years. Big Al hasn’t had a say in a Raiders draft in 12 to 13 years, but 95% of mock drafts will give us the fastest guy coming out of college. Every. Single. Year.
