This is a very good observation. A player that can't process info. on the fly quickly & make the right reads will fail in McDaniels system. Yesterday, somebody posted a video showing instances where it was not clear what the hell Carr was seeing & processing. The video provided ample proof as to why he is no longer the QB of the Raiders.Raidernation1979 wrote Thu Jan 26, 2023 9:41 am:Another point to consider. The McDaniels all fence requires intelligence. Both to be able to remember everything and then process it after the snap. It doesn’t matter how well you throw or how fast you are if you can’t do those things correctly, it will never reach the Heights it can.

Players at most positions coming into the NFL are developmental. Outside of the RB & WR position, where college players can come in and play some of their best ball in their careers in the first year, it is rare that a player come in and play at their best.Attyla wrote Thu Jan 26, 2023 7:11 am:If you pick a QB at 7, do you really want a developmental guys? I would rather have a guy you just need to get up to speed at the pro level, not a guy you need to go back and fix a lot of stuff with. We have had too many of those guys over the years.

With more and more teams going to RPO offenses or a spread offense where players work from the gun, more and more college players are coming into the league far more ready to play since the style of offense is more in line with their college days. I am not expecting a finished product, but a guy who will start from day one. Corners or linebackers can do it. Edge is another where the impact is day one if you get the right guy.Dark Horse » Thu Jan 26, 2023 11:36 am
I'm not sure Stroud is a day one starter.Raidernation1979 wrote Thu Jan 26, 2023 9:37 am:If you’re a perennial playoff team like the Chiefs, you can take a chance in the top 10 on a guy to sit for a year. We really don’t have that luxury as we are not. We need players. If you get a Brady type guy then you can maybe make it work. If they love say a Levis type player. If you don’t Brady for 1-2. He sits under Brady then it may work.
Levis and Richardson are developmental guys. You don’t expect them to go game 1. Stroud/young are day 1 starters.
None of the 4 are without question. Some have coachable flaws. And then you have young who plays excellent but he’s small.

Developing a rookie QB should be looked at in three ways - pocket passer vs running QB vs dual threatDark Horse » Thu Jan 26, 2023 11:54 am
1. I don't have a conscending attitude, I'm telling you your comparison to Pryor is flat out wrong and I am on solid ground with that. But if your skin is as thin as a Carr brother, you might take it that way.CWood24 wrote Wed Jan 25, 2023 8:56 pm:Dont ever call out anyone for bias when all you do is post highlight video’s & favourable draft reports, stop invalidating others opinion because it makes your own worthless
Anytime anybody posts any scouting reports that say anything bad about him you discredit it
This thread is becoming worse than the prime Carr thread because of your man crush on an incomplete QB
Right now Richardson is exactly what Pryor was a running back playing QB that IS a horrible passer
The reason we’re in this mess right now is because of potential we drafted a boat load of guys with potential that just needed to fix this or that & we have went nowhere what we need to do is take the no brainers options for once stop trying to be smarter than everyone else
Next year draft is stacked at QB we should clearly roll with a vet, build the D then get our guy

Yeah, his mechanical inconsistency is definitely lower body and body alignment related. His upper body mechanics are where you want them already. And his pocket presence is impeccable. These are qualities you coach and develop.kramNAVILLUS wrote Thu Jan 26, 2023 11:37 am:Developing a rookie QB should be looked at in three ways - pocket passer vs running QB vs dual threat
1) Pocket passer: If they have the mental capacity then start right away. If not or if a quality veteran is on the roster, then sit for a year and develop
a) Start: Payton Manning, Andrew Luck
b) Sit: Phillip Rivers, Carson Palmer
2) Running QB: Simplified offense and design run plays allow them to start right away. They can develop their football IQ and passing mechanics on the go. However, it might benefit to sit for a year or two
a) Start: Mike Vick, Cam Newton (both could probably be placed in the dual threat category as well)
b) Sit: Lamar Jackson (sat for most the year behind Flacco), Jalen Hurts
3) Dual threat: Similar to Running QB, they can start right away with designed run plays and simplified passing offense (PA, RPO, etc). Best option to start right away & help the team without ruining development. But sitting can help as well as shown below if a quality starter is on the roster.
a) Start: Josh Allen, Russel Wilson, Carson Wentz, RGIII (Vick/Newton)
b) Sit: Rodgers, Mahomes
Some may disagree, but I view AR15 as a dual threat QB. His completion % and passing stats were nothing to write home about, but his release is a thing of beauty IMO. Some say that his mechanics need work (and that may be true on footwork and read progression), but his release is smooth and one of the more natural that I have seen. Don't be shocked as we approach the draft that he moves up to the #2 (or even #1) slot for QB rankings - especially following the combine and pro days.

Some mock drafts are based on what someone thinks a team should do. Others are based on what they think they will do. And others are based on what will get clicks. Meh. Mock drafts, and especially mock trades, aren't much more than fan fiction this time of year.Attyla » Thu Jan 26, 2023 1:09 pm

Proceeds to write a short story about how he discredits articles and how everyone else is wrong, and their opinions are basically worthless. Then says other posters have thanked him for assumingly shedding his great football knowledge upon them

My favorite is when a site mocks a weird, off-the-wall pick to us, then uses that weird pick (which THEY mocked) as "evidence" of Raiders dysfunction, i.e. "And at 7 we have the Raiders taking a wide receiver, despite having a plethora of talent at that position and unaddressed needs elsewhere, once again proving the clown show in Henderson never ends" or whatever.chucker wrote Thu Jan 26, 2023 1:03 pm:Some mock drafts are based on what someone thinks a team should do.
