I am debating Christian Gonzalez vs. Carter. I think both could be there at #7. Gonzalez seems to have everything you want in a corner and I would take him over a questionable QB pick. Carter is no doubt a stud, but.....if we took him, I would have a bad taste in my mouth and be fretful over the consequences. Therefore, Gonzalez is my pick.Ivanavich » Thu Mar 23, 2023 7:43 pm
I expect that Carter will be taken off the Raiders draft board because of his red flag. That's the minimum I expect out of our GM.RunOverByHubbard wrote Thu Mar 23, 2023 7:22 pm:I am debating Christian Gonzalez vs. Carter. I think both could be there at #7. Just like you also never know if the teams at the top would not be able to reconcile taking a guy with a 50-something completion percentage and an extremely small number of games started. Despite the rumors, players can drop - because teams lie this time of year. They lie a lot.

Any chance at all that they shock the world and go Robinson at 7, or trade back a few and take him then? Not advocating for it but it would be interesting. Pound the rock with a game managing QB and a two headed monster at rb. Let Jacobs walk next year, and ride Robinson for 3 or 4 more years after.HesterLayes » Thu Mar 23, 2023 8:58 pm
He’s an elite prospect and some have him as the best prospect.Jeevo wrote Thu Mar 23, 2023 8:56 pm:Any chance at all that they shock the world and go Robinson at 7, or trade back a few and take him then? Don't think we will, not saying we should, and I wouldn't, but it would likely make us a pretty tough out on O.

When you look at our needs it sounds insane but I just had dinner with a guy who tried to sell me on it. Not buying yet but he made a pretty good case.HesterLayes wrote Thu Mar 23, 2023 8:58 pm:He’s an elite prospect and some have him as the best prospect.
If you are a Bo or Campbell type I’d take you that high, but it’s tough in todays game.Haven’t seen enough of him,but he is an excellent player.

I’m an old school guy who grew up in a time when RB’s were maybe the elite position.Huge Campbell and Dickerson fan.Seemed almost every team had a good one.Jeevo wrote Thu Mar 23, 2023 9:03 pm:When you look at our needs it sounds insane but I just had dinner with a guy who tried to sell me on it. Both vs the Chiefs, or anyone else, would be fun to watch.Ivanavich wrote Thu Mar 23, 2023 9:09 pm:Robinson vs. the Chiefs > Jacobs vs. the Chiefs -- in my assessment.

If we’re not drafting a QB - those 2 seem to be by far the best value. I’d lean Carter just because I think dominant d-tackles are probably harder to find and generally prefer to build in the trenches.RunOverByHubbard wrote Thu Mar 23, 2023 7:22 pm:I am debating Christian Gonzalez vs. Carter. Just no to Robinson (any RB) in the first round. Especially when you have the roster the Raiders have. Who need nearly everything on defense & Oline. The only way you take a RB in the first if he’s Tecmo Bowl Bo. & he plays in real life like the video game. FYI, that’s not happening. Make any argument you want, it’s still not best for the team. Any team.Ivanavich » Thu Mar 23, 2023 10:01 pm
Games are decided by which team scores the most points.MexicanHulk wrote Thu Mar 23, 2023 9:46 pm:Just no to Robinson (any RB) in the first round. I love Robinson. Would love to have him on the team. But not at that price because of what you can have. He could be a top 3 RB year one &, a good CB, DE, DT (not even elite but pretty good) provides 3x’s the value an elite RB does. No to a RB in the first. Especially top half 1st

The way to having more points than the other team is by USUALLY having the better overall team. & that is by having players that give you the most production/value on the field. Wether you’re preventing the other team from scoring &/or scoring yourself. So having a RB that can get in the end zone is not the only way to do that.Ivanavich wrote Thu Mar 23, 2023 10:01 pm:Games are decided by which team scores the most points.
The most valuable players are the players who actually score those points.
If Jacobs had been elite, then the Raiders probably would have won 2-4 more games last season. Let's not devalue the HB position because the previous guy couldn't find the end zone. 2,000+ total yards - but only 12 rushing TDs and 0 receiving TDs and 0 TD passes - well below average scoring output based upon yards gained or 'touches' had.
Robinson should be able to do better. Better than Jacobs = more wins.
