I am hoping we trade down and end up with an extra 1st for next season. We can dream.signal wrote Sun Mar 26, 2023 12:55 pm:I think the Raiders will do one of the following three things at 7 depending upon how the picks fall before them:
A) Draft a QB.
B) Draft a CB.
C) Trade down and get more draft capital to address the D.
I guess there is a possibility of trading up for a QB, but don't think it a probability. I think if they trade the pick it will be to trade down to gain another PREMIUM pick or two.
I do suspect them to trade up several times later in the draft.
P.S. I will be shocked if they use the pick to get a right tackle or running back. Just does not make sense to me to use that PREMIUM pick on either position given where the team is right now.

I would like to think that one of these talented edge rushers are at least a thought at #7.signal wrote Sun Mar 26, 2023 12:55 pm:I think the Raiders will do one of the following three things at 7 depending upon how the picks fall before them:

Yes, that is a possibility. But looking at the talent in the draft it appears to me (and I am no draft expert by any means) that there is talent at both positions deserving to be drafted at 7. But think that the team is in more need of a CB than they are of an Edge, so think that they will lean more heavily in that direction. But their assessment of the draft talent may be different than mine...and well, mine is merely based upon common wisdom that anyone can gather from various sites on the internet. I have not interviewed any players and yes have conducted any workouts or have spent time analyzing tape...so yes, you may be right and Z may believe that the talent at Edge is superior to that at CB and go in that direction. But all things being somewhat equal....assuming that, which I could be very wrong in doing so, CB makes more sense.Ismail86 wrote Mon Mar 27, 2023 9:32 am:I would like to think that one of these talented edge rushers are at least a thought at #7.

Pretty deep draft at both positions. At least based on talking heads it seems wilson is kind of considered a tier above the rest of the edge class. Whereas corner - I’d say the top 3 (Gonzalez, Witherspoon, porter) are all kind of interchangeable and even banks and smith aren’t too far behind.signal wrote Mon Mar 27, 2023 9:42 am:Yes, that is a possibility. I'd only trade down if it's a great offer. I want a defensive stud!!RI RAIDER wrote Mon Mar 27, 2023 3:49 am:I am hoping we trade down and end up with an extra 1st for next season. We can dream.

I don't know why he is even being called an EDGE. Not only is he more than just an EDGE, he is 238lbs damn point. Last I checked that's a LB!WolfRaider wrote Mon Mar 27, 2023 10:37 am:I'd only trade down if it's a great offer. I want a defensive stud!!
Difference between Witherspoon at 7 and Banks after a trade down, could be the difference between a top 10 corner and an average 2# CB.!!
If Washington or Bucs want 7 overall. I want there first and next year's 1st.
If we do end up picking in the teens. I want Nolan Smith!! Not solely as an edge, but use him as a blitz heavy outside linebacker. Micah Parson style

If we don’t trade up for Young or stroud..if by some miracle they fall a couple slots, I’d play it safe and take a very good corner prospect and I’d like Gonzales.HesterLayes » Mon Mar 27, 2023 2:09 pm

Hahahaha, I had actually typed how Mahomes runs the perfect amount at the perfect times in my previous post, then I deleted it cause it pissed me off.Attyla wrote Mon Mar 27, 2023 3:36 am:The running QBs are extremely risky to draft. Unless they learn how to play in the pocket and learn the proper mechanics of passing (and get the accuracy into the mid 60's) they do not last. It is why Richardson is such a huge risk to draft. It is a nice fantasy to think he will improve his accuracy at the next level, but you cannot draft him assuming you can improve that aspect of his game. You draft him for what he is now, a guy with freakish athletic skills who is going to be a 50% passer. He will never be a Mahomes guy who can play in the pocket accurately and use his wheels when needed. He will be the guy who uses his wheels as his first option, like Lamar. It is how he has gotten to the pros and it is very hard to alter that instinct once a player has established that part of his game.
That being said, yea, I am not a Run first option QB, way too risky and most do not last long at the next level.

You go Gonzalez over Witherspoon? I’ve got slight concerns Gonzalez may have a little “looks like Tarzan plays like Jane” in him.HesterLayes wrote Mon Mar 27, 2023 1:56 pm:If we don’t trade up for Young or stroud..if by some miracle they fall a couple slots, I’d play it safe and take a very good corner prospect and I’d like Gonzales.

I have concerns that Witherspoon thinks he's going to hit NFL players like he did in college at 181lbs.raiders93 wrote Mon Mar 27, 2023 3:32 pm:You go Gonzalez over Witherspoon? I’ve got slight concerns Gonzalez may have a little “looks like Tarzan plays like Jane” in him.
