Still think we should trade down as much as possible to acquire capital for this year to spend on o-line / D and additional picks to target Caleb Williams in 2024raiders93 » Thu Mar 16, 2023 7:21 pm
Odds on being able to trade up for Williams are slim. A QB needy team(s) will tank and that pick becomes unavailable pretty quick.Raidersmojo wrote Thu Mar 16, 2023 3:34 pm:Still think we should trade down as much as possible to acquire capital for this year to spend on o-line / D and additional picks to target Caleb Williams in 2024

Just to play devils advocate regarding his pro day, maybe his focus was on his legal matters leading up to it and therefore skipped training/preparing for it?FLORIDARAYDAH wrote Thu Mar 16, 2023 1:46 pm:Yeah the pro day will really hurt him. Some team would take a shot early after the racing but that workout shows a total lack of effort

Or maybe he’s a great player from purely his god given gifts. After peeling back the onion it’s revealed he’s straight up lazy. Talent alone is not enough to succeed in the NFL.HesterLayes » Thu Mar 16, 2023 9:04 pm
If no trade up or down I’m still going Gonzales16 to 88 » Fri Mar 17, 2023 10:57 am
And then the question becomes will he even have a good year? Maybe he flames out or gets injured real bad. Wanting to always hope for the next shinny thing that comes along is betting on the come.raiders93 wrote Thu Mar 16, 2023 7:21 pm:Odds on being able to trade up for Williams are slim. I seem to recall reading somewhere that his effort was called into question, it was a scouting report but I don’t remember who wrote itHellbound wrote Thu Mar 16, 2023 8:35 pm:Just to play devils advocate regarding his pro day, maybe his focus was on his legal matters leading up to it and therefore skipped training/preparing for it?
I have no idea what/if he had a lazy rep in college or not and his effort or lack of certainly draws a bunch of red flags but an excuse could be made that prepping for his pro day was the last thing on his mind in regards to his legal matters

Interesting situation…The regime is trying to clean out the old mess and rebuild while competing at the same time.I hope it can be done.Dark Horse » Fri Mar 17, 2023 11:15 am
Because A. Caleb Williams is a better prospect than any of the QBs this year, B. Whatever team is at the top is highly unlikely to not need a QB as was the case with the Bears and C. We have only 7 picks next year as opposed to 12 this year.
Two years? Hell no, one year.HesterLayes wrote Fri Mar 17, 2023 11:05 am:Interesting situation…The regime is trying to clean out the old mess and rebuild while competing at the same time.I hope it can be done.
Makes this pick interesting…do we go up to three for AR and let him sit two years? Do we trade down and acquire even more? Stay at 7 at get BPA.
Gonzales would look nice for the next ten years facing the young bucks at QB in the AFC

My guess - it all depends on how they feel about AR. If Z and Josh are both VERY excited by his potential and believe there is a very good chance that he will develop into a difference maker at the QB position, then yes, I can see them moving up. They may include a player on the roster to help augment the draft capital payment.HesterLayes wrote Fri Mar 17, 2023 11:05 am:Interesting situation…The regime is trying to clean out the old mess and rebuild while competing at the same time.I hope it can be done.

If they were to trade down, I would target Maryland CB Deonte Banks and pocket at least another 3rd.Raidersmojo » Fri Mar 17, 2023 11:38 am
we are going to be so bad next year that we will have a top 5 pick. Don’t think we will have to give up to much.raiders93 wrote Thu Mar 16, 2023 7:21 pm:Odds on being able to trade up for Williams are slim. A QB needy team(s) will tank and that pick becomes unavailable pretty quick.

Once again, I’m not a fan of Carr. I also find it funny that if you are a fan of Carr it seems you can’t have an opinion. Weird how it works around here.Dark Horse wrote Fri Mar 17, 2023 10:45 am:OMG, for the millionth time, we will NOT be able to trade to #1 to get Williams. It's particularly bizarre to see a Carr fan push this agenda.
