I don't know enough about defense and schemes to have much of an opinion other than our D sucks and I dream for when it doesn't. Assuming we put almost all eggs in our defensive basket, what do you all know about PG's D? Is it a complex system and quickly repairable? Does it rely on heavy talent (we have very little). What can you say about it?Raidernation1979 » Fri Jan 20, 2023 10:02 am
We went a stretch of the season when it was 12th in points allowed. I think there’s promise.RenoRaiders75 » Fri Jan 20, 2023 11:37 am
I sure hope so, it is hard to reset every few years.Raidernation1979 wrote Fri Jan 20, 2023 10:02 am:We went a stretch of the season when it was 12th in points allowed. I think there’s promise.

Scheme wise I think we are good. We need players. Our weakness is at LBers, Safety, Corners, and DT. Most of our LBers will not even be backups on good team rosters. Further, they are undersized and get dominated by opposing RBs & TEs. We can use the draft to solve most of our problems:RenoRaiders75 wrote Fri Jan 20, 2023 7:56 am:I don't know enough about defense and schemes to have much of an opinion other than our D sucks and I dream for when it doesn't. And the Raiders finished 26th in points allowed for the year so that means they also had a stretch where they were much, much worse.Raidernation1979 wrote Fri Jan 20, 2023 10:02 am:We went a stretch of the season when it was 12th in points allowed. I think there’s promise.

Give me two of everything other than edge, I'll get by on one of those but will take a couple if need be.Raidernation1979 » Fri Jan 20, 2023 8:13 pm
Correct. The season started rough. Then as the players started grasping things it improved. Then decimated by injuries they ended the year with 2 30 points games. I saw general improvement as the season went on.Trainnvain wrote Fri Jan 20, 2023 7:32 pm:And the Raiders finished 26th in points allowed for the year so that means they also had a stretch where they were much, much worse.

Replacing Ngokue with chandler jones was a huge mistake. At least we got Ya Sin though out of the deal though. Other than that I think we cant even evaluate Graham until he gets some talent on the defense. Even with that rag tag group there were flashes of good defense. The Kelsy 4 touchdown day was bad coaching or missed assignments. There is no excuse for that. So I think Graham could possibly be the right guy to get our defense good if he gets some talented players and doesnt make anymore boneheaded decisions.HesterLayes » Fri Jan 20, 2023 8:41 pm

A new staff with a musical chairs for starters in the LBs and Secondary? No brainer bring him back and let them build for a year or 2.Dark Horse » Sat Jan 21, 2023 7:10 am
He also didn't like the fact that Daboll and the Giants announced he was expected to return to the Giants while he was interviewing for HC of the Vikings.HesterLayes wrote Fri Jan 20, 2023 8:41 pm:He was well respected in the Giants locker room and front office.he had a head coach interview with Minnesota.Apparently the guy was/is legit.
I did some research on why he didn’t remain with the Giants even though he was thought of highly and Daboll said he wanted him.
There were other things, but the main two I found were he didn’t like the way they treated his close friend,Judge after promising him patience.
He also didn’t like the Brian Flores accusation of racial bias in his interview process.
His numbers weren’t great in NY,but Daboll liked him and seems like he was highly thought of in the league.

Graham is on a short leash. Obviously we are not there at the complex, do not see how he runs practice, nor do we see how he gets his coaches and team ready for a particular opponent. But I have read that Josh is a detail guy, and by all reports gets his offense fully prepared for a game. Even his detractors grant him this. So, I imagine, that Josh would spot if one of his coordinators were not doing the same.SkullCrusher » Sat Jan 21, 2023 8:10 am
Talents not great, but wasn't impressed in much anyway with the D from the coaching end. Liked previous years D better.
