They arent backloading the contracts anymore. They have plenty of cap space next season. The saints have like 16 million now in cap space this season but looking at next season they are already 42 million over next years cap.pfish57 wrote Sun Mar 26, 2023 2:29 pm:How in the fuck do we have just a little over a Million left in Cap space?????

Because we had cap space, but had 30 players leaving and no QB.pfish57 wrote Sun Mar 26, 2023 3:02 pm: We haven't added one difference maker & we are fucking Broke??

We can also see by the Raiders offer that he was being offered a contract commensurate with a guy who may end up 3rd on the depth chart.Attyla wrote Sun Mar 26, 2023 2:37 pm:new coach is savvy. He needed a backup who can mirror Wilson's style of play and he wanted a guy he could pillage info from. Stidham checked both boxes and was pretty cheap as well. Wilson just got more line help and still has weapons, but now he has a coach who is competent to scheme to Wilson's game. Not sure they leapfrogged us but I could pretty easily make a decent case.

12 picks ... Maybe a couple get bundled to move up from late rounds to mid rounds or from mid rounds to day 2?pfish57 wrote Sun Mar 26, 2023 3:56 pm:I don't see any improvement on D...let the good times roll lol

Definitely a weird offseason.

Very true. They foolishly thought they were a playoff team by their actions last year (trading for Adams and signing Chandler). Year 2 is not starting out any better. ZERO added to the D other than some mid to lower tier players (some who may be forced to start). It has been a head scratcher at this point. It does look like the tank is on especially considering our schedule. We are going up against the best QB's and offenses in the league and we did not sign one fucking upper tier defensive player. This season could go sideways real fast. I hope they know what their doing, because it does not look that way.heavyD wrote Mon Mar 27, 2023 8:51 am:Definitely a weird offseason.
On one hand they franchised a RB, signed the top WR in free agency, and paid $25 million for a free agent QB. Based on those actions you would think they are loading up in hopes of contending in the AFC West.
On the other hand they did absolutely nothing in free agency to plug the massive holes on defense basically dumpster diving for low dollar depth players. Hobbs is the only DB on the roster that is considered a starting talent for example and the LB core is Deablo, Spillane, and Masterson. Based on these actions you would think the team is tanking for the 2024 draft.
I imagine the results will be somewhere in the middle which means a 6-8 win team. Maybe they are just looking to have a head start on offense and next season with more dead cap off the books they will address the defense more aggressively depending on how the 2023 draft class pans out. Kind of like rebuilding on the fly while trying to be just good enough to stay competitive.

This isn’t a one year fox to a problem that is decades in the making, aka our crappy drafting.RunOverByHubbard » Mon Mar 27, 2023 11:44 am
That’s exactly what the Sacramento Kings did for years. They finally got the right coach and GM in place and voila — playoffs and they did not add two expensive super stars to make it happen. They clearly play a different kind of basketball now and the coaches run better schemes and the players execute it well.Willmark wrote Mon Mar 27, 2023 9:44 am:This isn’t a one year fox to a problem that is decades in the making, aka our crappy drafting.
If will take years to get out of the hole we’re in.
Question is will Zig or Boy Wonder be around once Davis’ ADD kicks in (again) and he fires them.
Note, that’s not endorsing McDaniels mind you. Rather us churning through coaches hasn’t helped add in picking the wrong ones and letting the right ones go and here we are.
