How do we get this? Please go a layer deeper than “sign/draft good ones.”

Any good ones in the draft?
Any philosophies?
How can one franchise so consistently have meh to absolutely awful LB cores?

For me personally there are 2 exceptional talent ls who can do it all

Trenton Simpson
Drew Sanders

Then there are a bunch of really good prospect at the MIKE spot

Jack Campbell
Noah Sewell
Daiyan Henley
Henry To’o To’o
SirVocea Dennis

As for SAM & WILL LB’s

Nolan Smith
Demarvion Overshawn
Dorian Williams
Isaiah Land
Cam Jones
Michael Ayers

If we were ever going to draft LB’s now would be the time this is a strong draft i’d Campbell & Sewell are the 2 i think we’d be looking at as they are kind of what Graham like & the type of guys Pats drafted

I think Spillane could be solid & if we get Van Ginkel he be a good vet presence with some talent

Jack Campbell to me has got to be a target. Probably the best sideline to sideline prospect in the draft and has a good ceiling. He tackles with good technique and can both cover and handle the run. We missed out on the best free agents but I would kick the tires on Walker and Matthew Reed if they are still out there (were available last I looked) and Reeves Maybin might be decent.

With the extra picks we have, I wonder if we don't try to trade up into the late first (if he's there) and try to grab him

Love Campbell he seems like a throwback LB with modern traits he gives off Luke Kuechly vibes although a little less mobile but more physical, he kind of say old school Raider for me

Like i said him & Sewell seem like the most likely LB for with there size & speed combo seems like the type of guys we value at LB

I think Campbell will be there in the 2nd, if we could somehow end up with a 2 out of Simpson, Sanders & Campbell it would be a win for me

Glad you put Nolan Smith in the linebackers bucket. I'm not sold on him strictly as an edge but the guy can cover and move in space also. I know the size doesn't match up but he gives me some real Jamie Collins vibes. I'd love him on our defense but someone will take him at the end of the 1st.

I'm on my own with this but I love the idea of an Ivan Pace Jr and Dorian Williams combo in the later rounds.

I love Campbell and Sewell (and Sanders as well). Crazy that many mocks have Sewell dropping to the 3rd. I would love to grab Campbell and follow it up with Sewell.

I haven't seen it with Sewell, looks like a plus athlete but that's it. I'd be very surprised if he goes before the very late 3rd. I got him with a 5th round grade myself.

This is the real raider curse. A lb core that can't cover and can't tackle.

If we do that, we probably do not have to move up much past 28th or so. While Campbell is my target, a lot of teams will be filling roster spots low in the draft because, well, they are already good. I see a run on WRs late in the first if my crystal ball is not completely broken. This draft does not have a great receiver class per se, but the depth guys are there for teams to fill holes. And this receiver class has guys who can also play special teams and that duel threat will make teams willing to pull the trigger on these guys in the first round.

yea, not high on him. His angles in coverage are really lacking and he relies on his athletic abilities and has not really worked on his technique. He is a developmental guy in my book and while he probably goes higher than he should, I doubt he breaks into the second round.

I feel like people used to say "LB corps", and somewhere along the line it got changed for most people to "LB core". Saying LB core isn't completely senseless but it still feels wrong to me. Maybe I'm the only one. Carry on.

FA LB have been cheap this year.

However the market is thin. AnthonynWalker and Jordan Jenkins are two guys I would 100 percent take a flyer on coming off their injuries last year. Other than that Tranquil and Van Noy would be ok additions if they could be got for a bag of dirt.

Our LBs have pretty well sucked as long as I can remember. LBers can play a long time if you get good ones. They can still produce well in to their 30s
If you build your LB corps you can build around them pretty easy, and have a half decent defense while you do it.

Jack Campbell seems to be the guy in the draft. But drafting ANY LB (not converted saftey) would be a step in the right direction.
There are guys like wagner and david avalible right now on the market.
Just for once address it.
The last time our LB corps was decent was 2016 we had Mack, Irvin, And Malcom smith. We went 12-4. We were getting lots of turn overs that year. Unfortunately we didnt keep it together. We need 3 beasts that play together year in and year out.
