Whatever was going on with Mayer has to be mental.FLORIDARAYDAH » Thu Nov 14, 2024 4:41 am
Not at all. He has said many time he looked forward to being a 1-2 punch with Bowers. Nothing but a fan made controversy. Nobody misses half the season because a player of the same position is drafted . It makes no sense. It's as ridiculous as tanking. I will trash my career so the team that fires me gets a better draft pick next year3rd and Long wrote Wed Nov 13, 2024 6:37 pm:He didn't seem "fucking pissed" to me.

I doubt may GM's or HC's would tank on purpose without buy-in from the owner.FLORIDARAYDAH wrote Thu Nov 14, 2024 4:41 am:Not at all. He's talking about "sleeping well" at night, which implies he wasn't doing so before.DanKD » Thu Nov 14, 2024 2:14 pm
Ive worked with individuals who were not doing well mentally and I wish theyd have taken a leave and returned after getting well again. The alternative is usually they keep deteriorating until something bad happens and they end up fired anyway with their life in shambles. And not everyone is the same. Ive never needed to go on a leave for mental or physical health but we all have our biochemistry and life situations.NoClapsPlease » Thu Nov 14, 2024 4:22 pm
I’m over this guy.RunOverByHubbard » Thu Nov 14, 2024 4:26 pm
I disagree. He gets a few games to show whether he is good to go and he still has the ability to give us and great 1-2 at TE. An off season trade could be in the cards but let’s not be hasty.rich72 wrote Thu Nov 14, 2024 12:29 pm: We need to trade this guy as soon as possible.

Yeah, that's concerning to hear. A friend of mine from high school developed a mental illness and would have episodes where he would become obsessed with some minutiae and spiral down into a dark hole. It was like some negative ear worm that he couldn't get over and severe insomnia was one of the symptoms. He was mostly fine between episodes, and it was many years between them, but the last one was the worst, and he wound up committing suicide after months of going through what sounded like an absolute hell. I'm no psychiatrist, so I'm not suggesting it's the same thing Meyers is dealing with, but in that context, life is absolutely more important than football.Sir Raider Duck, OMS wrote Thu Nov 14, 2024 12:53 pm:He's talking about "sleeping well" at night, which implies he wasn't doing so before.
Sounds like he got inside his own head and was driving himself crazy. Doesn't seem like a lot of fun.
Hopefully, his head is now in a good place and he can contribute for us.

Yeah, it's hard to say without expert medical opinions, which I'm sure that the Raiders are getting. Having Bowers on the roster and Meyers on a rookie contract makes it easier to take a chance , but a lot goes into that evaluation.RunOverByHubbard wrote Thu Nov 14, 2024 4:26 pm:I disagree.
