A few things I've noticed about this guy:

Pump fakes.
Play action.
Looking off defenders.
Hitting receivers in stride or out in front so they don't have to slow down.
(Good ball placement)
Pretty good pocket awareness.

Not on the bandwagon till I see more, but he might just turn out.

My only issue watching O'Connell is, he seems to shot put the ball more than throws it. Hos throwing motion is just weird. In the end ot may not matter, but for now it os a concern of mine.
Good news is, Im sure we will see plenty of him in the Pre. May run in the the same situation we had with car where we have a guy but injuries and the rookies play elevates him to start.

throwing motion can be worked on. It is his footwork that is wildly crazy. It can be fixed but that takes a lot of time when it is as bad as his is.

Awkward throwing motion and poor footwork and yet accurate in college. Could mean there is a lot of potential there.

Everything I have read indicates he is sharp (intelligence can be underestimated) so looking foward to watching him develop. Did not play with a dynamic back, an incredible wall for an OL or top tier WRs so....looking to see what he can bring at the next level.

I do not disagree, but he is raw and will need time. He mostly did not play against elite teams, some but not mostly. Like I said some time ago, he was probably over drafted by one round but Zeigler sees something in him enough to pull the trigger a little early.

Super interesting observation , as I hadn't watched tape of him really.

Just went and watched a reel and the very first throw on it, I saw something that resembled what you spoke of, looked like a shot put motion.. I said to myself, "uh oh", but then every other throw I saw, he didn't appear to have that shot put effect, more just a super compact "quick" release from my eye.

Now, I am not the best at seeing the footwork or pinpointing it, but what I saw didn't look anything like what was so disturbing about Carr to me in that area(ridiculous happy feet and nervousness) What stood out to me was his placement of throws. There were a couple where a defender got beat on the throw that I think NFL caliber would have snagged, but damn, I like his placement and accuracy from what I say. Oh, and no ridiculous "rainbows".....seems to have good touch there.

The other thing I noticed, and someone said is that his throwing motion did really remind me Brady. This pick may be really interesting! Now I'm excited to see this guy a lot and wee him develop!

Like I said, the cool thing is we should see him a bunch in the pre-season. With Jimmy out for who knows how long, my boy Garbers might stick around for more than just practice squad.
Im guessing Garbers has grown quite a bit during the offseason. I like him. The competition between him and the rook should be fun to watch.

Rivers had the ugliest motion/release I've ever seen. It didn't hamper his ability to play in the league

Rivers is a bad comparison. He blew up almost every college team record and was a concensus top 10 pick in the draft. Yea, he had that side arm throw but he was a machine.
