Per The Athletic's Tashan Reed, Brady's ownership bid will be discussed at the NFL Fall League Meeting on Tuesday in Atlanta. There, the league financial committee will review his bid and potentially vote on it afterward.
According to Reed, Brady would need the approval of 24 of the league's 32 owners.
Brady and businessman Tom Wagner agreed on a transaction to purchase approximately 10 percent of the Raiders from owner Mark Davis in May of 2023, but that transaction is still pending a vote from NFL owners. That offer has since improved financially because the league's financial committee "expressed concerns that Davis was giving them too large of a discount," per Reed.
Should owners not vote on Brady's stake at next week's meetings, the next chance to do so would be in December at the NFL Special League meeting.
Brady's ownership bid has led to his new role as a color commentator for Fox looking different than other broadcasters. As he awaits a decision, the NFL has already restricted his access to other team facilities or broadcast production meetings that typically include meetings with coaches and players before games.
According to ESPN's Seth Wickersham, Brady would also be prohibited from publicly criticizing game officials and other teams if he became an owner. Essentially, he couldn't disagree with a call while on the air or he would be subject to fines or suspensions.
A role as an owner would also mean Brady is subject to the league's gambling policies and anti-tampering policies. He would be allowed only "strictly social communication with members of other clubs," per Wickersham.

It wouldn't surprise me if there were a clause in Brady's agreement with Mark that would give Brady the right to buy controlling interest when Mark and Carol die or sell out. A number of NFL owners (Kroenke, Haslam, Biscotti) got their teams this way: Buy into minority ownership with a clause giving them first dibs to buy the rest of the team at a predetermined price (usually a formula relying on the team's current base price with adjustments for inflation, increased valuation of other franchises that have sold in the meantime, etc) when the main ownership becomes available.Raider Jim wrote Thu Oct 10, 2024 8:31 am:Broadcast deal is just a filler to keep him busy.
