I'll never forget the Monday night game against the Seahawks, who were playing without their starting QB (Matt Haselback) and RB (Shuan Alexander), and they had lost like 3 in a row and have given up something like 30 points a game. They were reeling...Coloradoraider » Wed Sep 27, 2023 12:11 pm
LOL. Only the Raiders would hire a head coach who had been out of coaching for 5-6 years and make his offensive coordinator a guy who had been out of coaching even longer and was literally cooking breakfasts and changing sheets for B&B.Fade2SilverAndBlack wrote Wed Sep 27, 2023 11:53 am:^^^This X 1000000^^^
I'll never forget the Art Shell clip-board....
Or game 1 V2.0 at home vs SD. Get shut out. One series Brooks was sacked on three straight plays. After the game they asked Shell if there were half time adjustments. He said no we wanted to keep doing what we were doing...
That was one of the worst coaching staffs ever...
“I’m furious,” Porter said. “They might as well trade me. I wanted Mike Martz as my coach and a real offense that’s proven in today’s NFL. Not something dusted off from a bed and breakfast in God knows where.”
"We need to throw more passes to the backs. Thats why I wrote it on my clipboard"....."I don't know why we can't score . "We run the same plays other teams do" Art Shell....

It’s a miracle they won 2 games that season.Attyla » Wed Sep 27, 2023 12:29 pm
I think we can safely say that as bad as we have started, this team would have killed the 2006 Raiders and it would not have even been close.trdaddy » Wed Sep 27, 2023 1:23 pm
Yeah. You guys are right. No more venting comparisons.heavyD wrote Wed Sep 27, 2023 10:41 am:Bold post but I doubt we ever see a Raiders team as bad as the 2006 team. That team averaged 10.5 ppg on offense. Think about how pathetic that is over a 16 game season.

Hey, at least you created a bit of conversation not related to either the Bills game or the upcoming Chargers game.trdaddy wrote Wed Sep 27, 2023 1:23 pm:Yeah. You guys are right. No more venting comparisons.

I feel for fans that paid to watch the B&B offense. It was unwatchable from afar let alone witnessing it live. To highlight how bad that offense was, they scored 168 points in 16 games and LaDainan Tomlinson scored 186 points all by himself that season.Attyla wrote Wed Sep 27, 2023 11:42 am:And I paid money to see that mess....more than once

Trust me that was a really really bad coaching hire. And this is coming from someone who remembers Shell's first go round and was excited to see him back. This coaching hire might be a cluster f#ck but it isn't as bad as that one. This one might be Mike White level thoughlive.B.A.raida » Wed Sep 27, 2023 5:50 pm

I'm confused. So is Jacobs 12 TDs more or less than Tomlinson's 186 points?heavyD wrote Wed Sep 27, 2023 1:57 pm:I feel for fans that paid to watch the B&B offense. That explains the 70 yard FG attemptSir Raider Duck, OMS wrote Wed Sep 27, 2023 9:49 am:Remember that Kiffin's defensive coordinator was Rob Ryan, who'd already been here a few years. They didn't get along, and part of what alienated Kiffin from Al was Kiffin wanting to replace Rob with his father (longtime NFL defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin). Supposedly, Kiffin fired Rob, Rob went to Al to thank him for the opportunity and say Goodbye, and Al basically said "He doesn't have the power to fire you. Get back to work." Kiffin then charged into Al's office demanding to fire Ryan, and Al's response was to type up a quarter-page resignation letter (specifically saying the Raiders didn't owe him the balance of his contract but wouldn't block his employment anywhere else) and hand it to Kiffin to sign. Kiffin refused, but spent 2008 trying to get himself fired (so he'd be paid the rest of his contract), while Al just wanted him to quit (so he wouldn't have to pay). I remember Jerry McDonald commenting that both men had acted so childishly that one wished neither of them would get his way.

I was against the firing of Mike Shanahan. He was trying to modernize the offense and Al insisted the “feared Vertical Game” was still the way to go. The NFL was changing and Al refused to. Being a rebel 1962-1985 was fun. After that he became almost irrelevant to the league.raiderramon » Thu Sep 28, 2023 1:55 am
I think Raiders had 10 tds in 2006. The whole season! 10 tds. that's it. Its unreal.
