As I've said, I love Maxx but considering how needy this Raiders team is, there's not much Maxx can do to make them any better...and as much as I hate to say it, if trading him to give us better draft positions, I say do it. Even if it takes 2-3 years for the new players as well as the new GM/HC regime are able to make the Raiders relevant again, 3 years from now Max will then be on the downside of his career, so if if get "an offer we can't refuse", trade him now while his value is at its highest.Be_Easy_25 » Tue Jan 21, 2025 2:10 am
This is a problem for several reasons:raidersince63 wrote Sun Jan 19, 2025 4:06 am:As I've said, I love Maxx but considering how needy this Raiders team is, there's not much Maxx can do to make them any better...and as much as I hate to say it, if trading him to give us better draft positions, I say do it. If a team wants to give up a treasure trove of picks for Maxx, we should pull the trigger.raidersince63 » Tue Jan 21, 2025 4:14 am

Your opinion is the same as mine, an "opinion".
1) Raider fans deserve career HOFers to cheer for;
NO, Raiders fans deserve a TEAM to cheer for and we're nowhere close to that.
2) Draft picks don’t always hit;
I think everyone already knows that...but picks that are never made NEVER hit.
3) We’re unlikely to get the appropriate draft capital for him anyway as no team in the top 5 is giving up their pick (plus more) for a 27 year old player with nicks and bruises.
Well, that's pure conjecture and you can't get anything unless you first ask for it.
4) Maxx isn’t just a great player, he’s great at one of the most important positions in roster construction. As such, getting good players in the draft (if you manage to do that) may still not yield the desired outcome you want. There will also be in impulse to simply try to fill his role once traded ala Gruden drafting Clelin Ferrel.
Gruden is not the GM or the HC.
Keep him. We’re getting ready to add a nice piece at #6. We have a nice piece in Brock Bowers. Christian Wilkins will be back. The cupboard is not bare on the roster.
We had all of those players this past year...how'd that go? (4-13) Do you think 1 draft pick at #6 is going to turn things around?...besides aren't you the one who just said; " Draft picks don’t always hit"?

- Yes, on this board, we give opinions. It’s common in English language to state opinions as fact. Ex. “The Raiders suck” is an opinion stated as fact. No need to add “I think” or “in my opinion”. No need for reminders.raidersince63 » Tue Jan 21, 2025 5:28 am
OK, if you say so.Be_Easy_25 wrote Tue Jan 21, 2025 5:22 am:- Yes, on this board, we give opinions. It’s common in English language to state opinions as fact. Ex. “The Raiders suck” is an opinion stated as fact. No need to add “I think” or “in my opinion”. No need for reminders.
- Sure.
- It’s actually not conjecture and if it is, any opinion ever made is conjecture.
- Doesn’t matter if Gruden is GM or HC. Point is, that’s a high value position on the roster. The minute you trade a player from that position is the minute you immediately start looking for a high caliber player to fill that position.
- Considering 2 of them were hurt, did we “have” those players on the field? Is there some reason to doubt they’re still capable of producing in the NFL?
Stud + new coaching staff would help change life for this roster imo. We have a good chance at improving this roster and coaching staff.
Ex. Crosby, Mason Graham, Wilkins on our line is a problem for teams next year if it happens.

If Maxx wants a new contract fine but if he tries to play dirty with it then It is time to send him on his wayraidersince63 » Tue Jan 21, 2025 11:55 am
Yup, in a skinny minute and like I've been saying, Maxx does this franchise no good in its present state, so if you can get someone to bite on a trade or trade package that nets us a crazy return on Crosby, pull the trigger now while Mad Maxx' value is still high...as far as drafts picks, if we can snag Dart and/or Jeanty I'll be shickled titless.CWood24 wrote Tue Jan 21, 2025 11:02 am:If Maxx wants a new contract fine but if he tries to play dirty with it then It is time to send him on his way
I’ve said it before I love Maxx but he has his price & if it did happen then we have to use those picks to build q foundation for future.
What if trading Maxx got us Adbul Carter/Mason Graham & Jaxson Dart in the 1st this year with 4 more possible starters on day 2 - Would you do it?

With Maxx’s grumbling’s about his contract & John Spytek reputation for scouting playersCWood24 » Wed Jan 22, 2025 2:09 pm
It kind of is which is smart because if they want to lock him down it’ll get him more moneyAttyla wrote Wed Jan 22, 2025 1:47 pm:Maxx talking money is not grumbling about his contract.

Seems to me that if he's bringing up money there must be a reason...otherwise, why would he do it?Attyla wrote Wed Jan 22, 2025 1:47 pm:Maxx talking money is not grumbling about his contract.

that one is easy, he has 2 years on his deal and being an elite pass rusher you rarely see one in their prime go into their final year of a contract. The deal is usually redone the year before. So that would mean 2025. Talking money now sets the stage to get the best deal he can. And he is surely aware of our cap room, that we have a new GM who will want to make a splash. It is the perfect storm. Maxx ain't dumb.raidersince63 wrote Wed Jan 22, 2025 2:36 pm:Seems to me that if he's bringing up money there must be a reason...otherwise, why would he do it?
FWIW, the Raiders need not consult Maxx or any other player for that matter as to who should or should not be the GM and/or the HC. Maxx just needs to STFU and do the job he's paid to do. Nobody held a gun to his head and made him have the Raiders logo tattooed on his body. Considering how few players stay with the same team throughout their career, that's about as dumb as having your first girlfriend's name tattooed on you when you're 18.
