I do expect the Raiders to address the position. And I also expect that we might take a step backwards if we start a rookie - O'Connell is not a great QB but his rookie year was fine and, if a draftee is worse but developing, that's OK.
Watch JJ & Penix in Wolverine vs Husky's,
Bo vs ... in Oregon vs Colorado,
and immediately after watch Raiders vs Giants or the Raiders vs Chiefs (the first one in which the Raiders lost - sometimes loss tells you way more about a QB than wins). Focus on the QB play and judge who comes out as the more polished QB.

Not a guy I'd usher out of our QB room with all deliberate speed because he isn't mobile.
When you take into consideration that our defense was hampered by our offense last year, what they did was very remarkable. And I couldn't agree more when it comes to AO. This time around he starts out with a real HC that will have everybody on the same page, guys that want to play for him instead of going through the motions and one OC who no doubt he's already been working with.

Exactly. He literally lost them the SB twice. They won despite him. I’m surprised Shanahan made him even look as good as he did. Most of those games weren't won through dominant performances, but because the other side shot themselves in the foot. Take the Ravens for example. The best running team in the league refused to run the football and their MVP QB choked huge dick during critical moments.
So O'Connell has at least that going for him. That doesn't mean he should be the automatic starter, but he can make most of the throws and won't do stupid shit. After all these years of watching this game and this team in particular, I've come to the conclusion that Do No Harm is half the battle.

I won't panic if O'Connell is the starter next year. But I'll panic if the team doesn't demonstrate that getting a long term QB is a priority because that is just an indication that the wrong guys are making decisions.
