A very good job when considering there are some real talent challenges among the starters and virtually no depth of any quality.

This is largely scheme, playcalling, and hair on fire hustle that we are living on here.

We have a few pieces but more holes but still putting a respectable product out there.

Just a stuffer/pusher in the middle of the line might reduce a lot of the bend in the don't break D.

Maybe the chefs boat race our asses but I think we have something here.

For the first time in a while i’d say we maybe need to invest more draft picks in the offence than the D

T’Vondre Sweat in the 1st would be perfect for us a big run stuffing wrecking ball in the middle of the DL

After that it needs to be QB & OL x2

I want Sweat too. He’d be perfect to make a wall of the middle, but I haven’t seen him anywhere ranked as a 1st rounder. In fact I’ve always seen him in the 3rd. So maybe he moves into the 2nd, but this team really needs to learn to draft 1st round talents in the 1st round. Something I can’t confidently say we’ve done since Khalil Mack in ‘14.

I’ve seen Sweat mocked in the 1st a bunch usually mid to late 1st the highest i’ve seen him is at 12, i think by the combine he’ll be a consensus 1st pick he might be the best DT in this draft

I’ve watched him a bunch he is so underrated as he isnt a stat line guy but i see him as the guy who’ll make the stat line guy, Maxx next to this kid would be sure fire DPOY candidate instead of an afterthought

I do think the 2nd tier QB’s this year in Daniels, Ewers, McCarthy, Pratt & Ward if they declare are worth a look so no rush to get a top QB or even tradea way picks for any of them although we wont be in the convo for Williams, Maye or Penix anyway

According to the Athletic this is the best Raiders defense statistically since 2002. I have to apologize to Graham as I wanted him fired in the offseason but he’s proved me wrong this season.

You and almost everyone else on this forum.

I am uncertain how they are getting it done, but they are getting done. Going into the season, the LB unit appeared thin as ice, the secondary highly suspect, DT position lackluster to bad and the one guy who we thought might come in and make a difference has been a huge disappointment.

Yet, here we are, and they are getting it done.

Maybe the difference this season has more to do with them finding an identity. Support and trust each other and play with your fucking hair on fire.

In the off-season, there was talk of simplifying the defense so the players could play faster. I think it’s being underestimated how well that worked.

Can this defense sustain its success going into next season? Consistency has been lacking from this team for a loooong time. It would be nice to go into a season not having to worry about one side of the ball.

Start crying now. There'll be no 1st round QB in 2024 drafted by the Raiders.

OR

The defense sucks just as much as last year, but this year the offense is horrible and teams/ offenses are not giving us their best efforts because

say it with me

"teams play down to the level of their opponents!"

Offenses don't need to put up 30 points, so they don't, and it makes the Raiders defensive stats look much better than they should.

The defense has a bunch of average starters and back up caliber players. It does not have elite players outside of Crosby.

And the defense benefits statistically (but not with wins) because Jacobs the best clock wasting HB in the NFL gets 25 touches every game, despite the fact that he can't find the end zone enough to justify those 25 touches.

Outted the defense yet again. :eyes: :hypnotized: :money:
