A lot of you guys crack me up. "If what we want isn't there just trade back and pick up an extra 2! Like its so damn easy. Hey you there other team! Give me your lower #1 and your #2 and I don't give a shit if you don't want to trade.....we're the Raiders and we say you have to!Ordos » Fri Mar 29, 2024 10:19 pm
Is it easier than, "do everything we can to trade up, even if the teams above us don't actually want to trade?"ELCAraiderfan wrote Fri Mar 29, 2024 9:42 pm:A lot of you guys crack me up. Every year it’s the same thing since forever. People think trading down is like buying candy. It takes two to tango.ELCAraiderfan wrote Fri Mar 29, 2024 9:42 pm:A lot of you guys crack me up. CJ Latham is a 360 pound monster who plays RT but I think early in his career would probably be best utilized as a guard. I like him because I do think he could be a player that you could play inside but could move outside if there ever was a need for him to do so. A few mocks have him gone by #13 but most do not.HesterLayes wrote Sat Mar 30, 2024 4:33 am:i’ve mentioned this a couple times…
i mean if there was a Pace or Ogden type i’d hop all over a tackle, but Thayer is young and pretty damn good. i see a tackle in lots of mocks..i think we have much bigger needs. Are there any Zack Martin type guards? i don’t think so this year.

It's the same with people in the trade up camp. Think rationally and if you had a top 5 pick and the supposed great qb class this year with a need at qb, why would you trade out of it? Better yet, a blue chip prospect that probably would've went #1 any other year might fall into your lap at 4 or 5. Why would a team drop out of that position for a few picks?Marzan wrote Sat Mar 30, 2024 2:32 am:Every year it’s the same thing since forever. People think trading down is like buying candy. Draft based on talent/quality but trade based on need. That goes for the other team as well. We likely can't reasonably trade into the top 3 because all three teams need a QB. But if we're sitting there at 13 and want to draft guards and BPA is a tackle then a team that really needs a tackle may value that pick differently than we do if we're happy with Munford at tackle. That's a very possible scenario - I like Munford, but some don't so YMMV.RI RAIDER » Sat Mar 30, 2024 6:41 am
This year is a little different. There are teams going all in (like the Cowboys, Packers, Niners) who need an OT. I think they trade up to get one so it might as well be us (if that is the direction that TT is looking at).ELCAraiderfan wrote Fri Mar 29, 2024 9:42 pm:A lot of you guys crack me up. For the most part, our takes are very similar in that we both think the OL is in DIRE need of an influx of talent. And yes, one body ain't gonna get the job done. I do like the scenario where the Raiders are able to trade down and get more swings at addressing some of these holes. If TT is able to find that team that wants that #13 spot and is willing to pay to move up, I am all for it.chucker wrote Sat Mar 30, 2024 6:17 am:Draft based on talent/quality but trade based on need. Obviously you don't just automatically make a trade - it has to work. I get the scenario that a guy like Latham could start out at guard and potentially move to tackle, but my preference is to accumulate more picks and more bites at the apple.
We not only don't have a starter at RG, I'm not even sure we have a backup because I don't know that Fluker can even be considered a serviceable backup. We also don't have a backup tackle, unless you count Wagner who has never played an NFL snap and was injured for his rookie year after also having injury issues in college. I suspect we'll fill the roster with some vets soon, but the depth chart on the oline is brutal and we need bodies.

I think oline is the biggest need. You're absolutely correct in that there is no starting guard and lack quality depth throughout. imo the secondary would be the second biggest need. Same as the oline. Lacking a starter at cb, safety is decent but you could probably use an upgrade and the secondary lacks quality depth also. Dline while upgraded could still use another guy. If Wilson doesn't step up, there's a need for another edge guy. Koonce showed flashes but that's still only 2-3 guys. Lb could always use an upgrade. Spillane is fine but Diablo is pretty mid imo. If DA is gone after this season wr becomes an issuechucker wrote Sat Mar 30, 2024 6:17 am:Draft based on talent/quality but trade based on need. That goes for the other team as well. Good to see that others have a weird sense of humor. It is a long offseason and it was a silly attempt to bring some levity to the discussion.Attyla wrote Sat Mar 30, 2024 6:17 am:Signal gets a thumbs up for the elephant vid
